Sorry but I have another Tyrantrum comparison:

I love this design so darn much. He and Pangoro have spots on my team just for their looks.
And who knows, the King of Red Lions might have tiny little arms under there.

I know this is kind of off-topic, but by far my favorite user of synchronoise is Umbreon.

I agree. A psychic type move that only hits dark types and follows the type chart is just so amazing.

About the worst move debate, I would say the worst move is smog or ally switch.

Smog has a power of 20, so it has damage dealing potential on par with Rapid Spin. Furthermore, it has a mere 70% accuracy, on par with Focus Blast and Thunder/Blizzard/Hurricane when used in normal weather. For additional effects, it has a 40% chance of poisoning the target, but that reduces down to 28% after taking accuracy into effect. Therefore, it is outclassed by the higher power, higher accuracy, and higher effective chance of poison Sludge bomb.

Ally switch is a move that switches the user and an ally's (center ally in a triple battle) position. In a single battle, it is a lower PP Splash. In a double battle, you loose a turn (hopefully) cause both hits to be NVE. The fact that Deoxys-D, Claydol, and Mew are the only pokemon that lack paper-thin defenses and get the move makes it even worse, as all other users would probably fall to whatever attack they got (bar maybe a resisted weak special move to specially defensive Gallade, Gardevoir, and Beheeyem, all of which have horrible bulk, and all of them bar Gallade are slow). Furthermore, ExtremeSpeed, Fake Out, and a faster +1 priority move will all go before it and hit the intended target. Furthermore, that trick won't work against an opponent expecting it, and all users are weak to Ghost, with all but Gallade weak to Dark and all but Gallade, Natu, and Xatu weak to Bug, and spread moves will still hit the intended targets.

They pay close attention to tournament strategy? That makes sense, but somehow it's surprising to hear. A pleasant one, to be sure.

Anyone else going to name a Spritzee SCP-049?

It would be kinda cool if frozen pokemon are given a 50% defense increase.

I think a re-type to ice until it thaws out is more likely, and more realistic. I mean, would you endure several very sharp rocks launched at a very high speed straight at you, or an opponent cloaking itself in a very hot fire and slaming into you any better if you were trapped in ice?

Did we.... always know that we could fully customize the character at the beginning? I feel like they implied more options than, say, 3 defaults.

No, the fact that you could customize your character was only hinted at for quite a while, and then it was even longer until it was announced that you had any customization ability at the beginning.

Okay, so I had a really brutal day and I come home to see Tyrunt get an 11/10 POTYAY evolution.

This calls for some celebration.

From Pokebeach

With thanks to KurowaSan for the translation, an interview with Eurogamer has revealed that there will be a greater variety of wild Pokemon in the grass. The idea is that each time you enter tall grass, they want you to find a different Pokemon. Also, depending on the color of the flowers in the tall grass, the ratio of the Pokemon encounters and their types are different. Masuda also stated that there might be an easier way to obtain Shiny Pokemon, while Yoshida said that they wanted to make a Shiny Pokemon's color stand out more.

We've known since May, when they actually bothered talking about and showing stuff.

Why has this been so overlooked? The flowers is perfect for finding those specific rare pokemon you may have been looking for ala Static / Magnet Pull abilities. Something I've always wanted is just an absolutely huge variety of pokemon in the games and I think we're finally seeing that!

And what could be the deal with the shiny coloration? Maybe multiple shiny color palettes?

I've said it before, I've said it again. I wish every pokemon had as much variability (visually) as Spinda. My Squirtle looks just like anyone elses Squirtle (aside from shinyness), it would be cool if there was random variables that made every pokemon looks slightly different.

Yes that would definitely make people actually have a reason to care about their pokemon and such. Great idea, I doubt they'd be able to do that though.

I wouldn't mind a second color for shinies though that would be kinda cool and it could give us things like the strange colored ones in the anime.

what happens when kecleon gets hit by fire blast and gets a burn??

Burn or poison is not cured if your type changes to fire or steel after getting the status. A poisoned pokemon's type becoming poison cures the poison, though, so it could be either way.

So fire kecleon can actually be burned..but poison kecleon wont be poisoned...hmm interesting

You know, they really seem to be coming up with alot of new abilities and are not shy about giving them to old pokemon. I'd really like for them to revisit Dialga and Palkia, both version mascots who got nothing in terms of a signature ability like the rest.

Dialga: Fast-forward. While Dialga is in play, all individual turns count as 2 turns. Pokemon would still only get to use 1 move, but for the purposes of sandstorm, leech seed, toxic, burn, etc, it would be 2 turns. This would be great since Dialga is immune to most of that and, most importantly, it would finally allow it to use its signature attack, Roar of Time, without drawbacks.

Palkia: Wormhole. Prevents the opponent's use of its held item whenever Palkia is in play. Palkia is based on space, so it could theoretically separate an item from its holder without a second thought. Suddenly, walls are losing leftovers, the Lati twins don't have Soul Dew, no scarves, and Arceus is default normal-type.

Giratina: Dark Matter. Because Giratina can create and control a world of its own where time and space don't apply, it is unaffected by the abilities of Dialga and Palkia. Furthermore, it isn't affected by sandstorm or hail damage. Origin Forme retains Levitate.

I'd love to see more pokemon get abilities that match them flavorwise, but it sucks because I doubt GF can come up with anything better than these three, for example.

So I was considering the ramifications of Dry Freeze, the ice move that hits waters for super effective damage. I wonder if using it on water/grounds, Gyarados, Ludicolo and Kingdra will hit for 4x SE damage. Makes sense right?

And then conversely, it'd hit water/ice types and Empoleon for neutral damage.

Furthermore, Jynx would be a great water counter with it. :D
