I'm seeing a trend with blank/incorrect drop down in Instacheck and windows 8Yeah windows 8 :)
But I sadly don't have access to a windows 8 computer at the moment.
I'm really not sure what causes it to misreport. I'm looking into it.

Looks like it worked!Sophie can you see my screen prints? Think I put them up correctly
I know some Windows 8 users did get it working, so it's not impossible.Ah maybe it doesn't like 8. Maybe I can try this on a laptop my bf has with windows 7 and see if that works that way.
Step 6) Set-up and Connect on the 3DS
One thing to keep in mind while doing this, is you must have the Virtual network above your usual home wifi network on the connection list, or the 3DS will pick the wrong network. My home network is "SHAW-EE54BE" so I've placed PokeChecker above it.![]()
If the test passes and connect to the Internet - Proceed to step # 7
If the test fails to connect to the access point - Verify the network is enabled in step # 6 then verify you entered in the right SSID / Password
If the test connects to the access point but not the Internet - This is usally caused by the scan being started early... so you weren't following my steps!! >:[ Just kidding! Try to connect again, if it fails twice please restart your computer and repeat steps # 4 (you may need to do #3 again if the hotspot gives you the error "The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation")
Do you have the Killer network manager installed with the bandwidth control tool? That was causing a ton of problems for me.I keep getting stuck here... Sometimes the test goes through to the access point, sometimes it doesn't even get that far. I've noticed a small difference with our Network Connections, though... I noticed your Virtual Wifi is not connected to your computer, but mine is. Could this be the cause? If it is, how can I fix this? I didn't think disabling it would help at all.
Looks like it worked!
Can you please go into that adapater screen and disable your Local Area Connection. Then restart the computer. When the computer boots back up please do step #3 again then see if step #4 gives you the same error. I've seen a few people have issues starting the hotspot with a LAN on, and I had the same issue personally.
I know some Windows 8 users did get it working, so it's not impossible.
There are some discussions about it earlier in the thread I'm just looking for them :)
Aw geeze thanks for pointing that out. It should say connected if the hotspot is on. If you stop hotspot in instacheck it shows disconnected =/ I'll fix that and then answer your question so I don't confuse anyone else LOLI keep getting stuck here... Page one now :)Sophie what page are your steps?
After you update your drivers from that link, try restarting then doing this:Pokemon Breeder Sophie No idea? I think I'm gonna give up @_@
Okay I found the problem. When it is blank, it's because WinPCap thinks it's installed, but it isnt. Here's how to install it.
1) Search for packet.dll on your computer
2) Delete it, requires admin power
3) If there is something using packet.dll, open Task Mangager, and Services tab, then stop the one that is using it
4) Run the WinPCap installer
5) ???
6) Profit!
It's not looking very good lol it doesn't detect any available networks, not even your home wifi. Did you install exactly to my walkthrough? It's n the front page. Please try going through those steps and let me know if you get any weird errors along the way :) Specifically around steps # 3 and #5

Are you using Windows 8?Re-did all the steps. Still no luck.
No worries :) I'm just hatchin' eggs and helping out haha
It looks like your issue is with the Virtual network, it hasn't even been created yet.
This is worth trying:
I'm not too sure. If that might be the cause, how would I go about fixing that?Do you have the Killer network manager installed with the bandwidth control tool? That was causing a ton of problems for me.
Glad to be useful, haha. I await your answer. :PAw geeze thanks for pointing that out. It should say connected if the hotspot is on. If you stop hotspot in instacheck it shows disconnected =/ I'll fix that and then answer your question so I don't confuse anyone else LOL
All right, I'll try that and let you know if it works. You're pretty close to getting it online. Please try to restart the computer and then do step # 3 again. Open instachecker and launch the hotspot. Don't open the actual instachecker page with all the stats or start the scan. Delete the network configuration from your 3DS and try to connect again.
The fact that you've never seen the virtual adapter makes me think there is an issue with that program. Although you've definitely went above and beyond on trying to reinstall wincap. But you all need to have .Net framework - have you verified that's on the correct version as well?Unfortunately, still no go. I tried the following:
~ Using "Your Uninstaller 7" to uninstall the program before reinstalling it. Nothing. (tried this a few hours ago)
~ Remove the packet.dll. Program still thinks it's installed when trying to re-install it, so progress as normal. Reboot. Try CMD in administrative mode, "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow". Open up Instacheck. No go.
~ Remove the packet.dll. Uninstall WinPcap with its uninstall option. Reboot. Reinstall. Reboot. CMD, Instacheck, nothing.
~ Remove the packet.dll. Uninstall WinPcap. Disable antivirus. Install WinpCap. Reboot. CMD and Instacheck, nada.
~ Remove the packet.dll. Uninstall WinPcap. Download WinPCap 4.1 to try instead of 4.1.3. Install WinPCap 4.1. Reboot. CMD and instacheck, nothing.
The only thing I can think I have remotely different is the windows virtual miniport adapter is nowhere to be found. I've never seen it on this computer before.
If you have the setup.exe for the latest driver, you can rerun the setup and select modify. Then remove/deselect the network manager and bandwidth control.I'm not too sure. If that might be the cause, how would I go about fixing that?
Glad to be useful, haha. I await your answer. :P
EDIT:
All right, I'll try that and let you know if it works.

I'm kinda at a loss here... I'm not sure how comfortable you are with doing this, but you may want to try removing and reinstalling the NIC card driver. That's honestly my only other thought on getting the virtual network to start working.
Sorry if I quote myself, but can i get a response to my question? Thank you :)Hey guys, i tested this new program with other users and it works perfectly.
Pity was they were the ones to use Instacheck as I have Linux as Operative System. Do you relatively know when a version just for Linux would show up?
Thanks for any possible response :D
