Just a thought would it be hard to add a clear list button? Or am I missing something I have to close and reopen it every time I want to scan for someone else

Anyone find a way to fix my issue? I did everything on the instructions but I still get this error:

Anyone know what I did wrong? :(

Whats your windows version? Is it Windows Vista Starter? Or Win 7 Starter?

It is Windows 7 Starter Service Pack 1

That's the problem then. I wasn't completely sure why that error occurred but now I think I know. It seems that both Windows 7 Starter and Vista Starter don't support or include ICS (Internet connection sharing services). Upgrading your windows version should fix this and allow you to use Instacheck. However, for Windows 7 starter there may be a workaround you can try.

Go to the start menu -> search
Type in "adhoc"
Click it and follow the steps (think it only needs a click though)

Again, unsure if this'll work but you can always try. Not sure if this'll work on vista as well. Let me know if it does though.

Okay it is wanting things like a network name and things like that. Do I just set up a random one or...? What exactly do I need to do?

I want to do this on my VISTA PC but VISTA won't work for some reason. When I tried opening the program on my VISTA it never opens the window. It just brings up a pop up window saying:

VirtualRouterPlus has stopped working.

And it never opens. It only lets me click close then it just never opens. Any idea on how I can fix that?

I believe you're pretty much making a new "home" network, and disable your old one, except this one will support ad-hoc. You want this one to connect to the internet, and be your shared connection.

And n sorry, it seems all vista users cant get this to work yet, and I haven't seen any solutions around yet either, nor what could be the cause.

Master_Loki: When I set up an ad-hoc (named Instacheck) and ran my instacheck hotspot program a different error came up. I renamed my instacheck hotspot because the adhoc and hotspot thing had the same name. When I set up that adhoc it also disabled my wireless network connection 2

VISTA was always a bad operating system to begin with. :( It was just always bad. If there isn't a way to get this to work on VISTA or Windows 7 starter then what can I do. Is this ad-hoc suppose to be on my network connections list?

I keep getting alerts to my post, saying there's i guess someone that answered it. BUT I don't see any posts that explains how the Standalone version of Instacheck works?

If the alert says: "[Username] replied to the thread Instacheck Hotspot -- a fast Pokémon checker for XY." that simply means they posted in this thread. if it says they quoted you then they have quoted your post and responded to directly you. Just because the alert says they replied it doesn't mean they are speaking directly to you. Hope this helps. :)

Try and keep the same name and see what happens. The new error has a solution, and it involves typing all the netsh commands on page 1 by pokemon breeder sophie. Oh also try it with your old network still on and connected to the net. Its all trial and error from here.

By default its disabled/hidden on win7 and vista http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/networking-in-windows-7-starter

But you can enable adhoc even though its hidden, at least on win 7: http://gizmodo.com/5421088/get-internet-connection-sharing-in-windows-7-starter-in-one-easy-step

Okay so I created the ad-hoc and made the SSID be Instacheck and the passcode is 12345678. I created the ad-hoc and opened Instacheck. I named the Instacheck SSID Instacheck as well with the same passcode. I still got the error saying the group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.

Question! My 'Shared Connection needs to be Wireless Network Connection or Local Area Connection? I attatched an Ethernet cable to my netbook so I could have the LAN.

Well for the sake of just getting this to work first, the one you should share is the ethernet. As for the error, try and enable your wireless card if it isn't (make sure its NOT connected to the internet though. Try and enable your virtual wifi miniport under network adapters in device manager as well if you can.

Okay so the ad-hoc kept telling me it was waiting on users to connect. So I got onto my VISTA PC and connected to the ad-hoc. Now my network connections have changed. Wireless Network Connection turned back on but it now says Unidentified network (I assume this is the ad-hoc?) and after we created the ad-hoc it turned off my Wireless Network COnnection 2 which is my virtual wifi miniport. I'll post an image and show you.

How do I enable it? When I go to device manager it only allows me to disable when I right click it. So it says my miniport is enabled but that is it not connected to the internet. I also did the netsh commands and allowed hosted networking.

I get the group error no matter what connection I choose to share.

Ok, I don't know much about this, but I disable all other Connections except my normal Wi-Fi and the Instacheck one, then I run cmd.exe and type in netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow and run Instacheck, try it.
