Wether this has been stated or not defiant sucker punch bisharp can in fact be a counter. It can sucker punch into kings shield and be unfazed by the debuff. It can OHKO if banded+Adamant. I've tested it a few times.
Please excuse me if this was mentioned before, but I just noticed that Aegislash has access to Head Smash. Would this be a viable move in any way?
It isn't debuffed+rebuffed, nothing happens at all because Sucker Punch only makes contact if the opponent uses an attack move, which King's Shield is not.Wether this has been stated or not defiant sucker punch bisharp can in fact be a counter. Is it me, or is the Weakness Policy Mixed attacker Aegislash a very good set?
With Shadow Ball + Iron Head + Sacred swords, it is doing loads, thnx to Aegislash's weakness to common Sucker Punch and Earthquake. Being mixed will make him catch many physical walls, such as Skarmory, off-guard, Skarmory will most likely switch into Aegislash thinking it can wall it and put 1-2 layers of Spikes, well it can't with Shadow Ball.
+2 4 SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Skarmory: 330-388 (98.8 - 116.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
I said after stealth rock = sturdy broken, True that though, ofc Skarmory will be WW-ing, but it never outsped my Aegislash (Running 124 Speed, outspeeds Mega Scizor) so I'd do enough to OHKO Skarmory at +2 (Running 80 SpA to OHKO Mega Scizor after 2 Layers of Spikes +2 SpA, because I have klefki and Mega Scizor is a problem for the team, so making sure Aegislash can do something) and after Stealth Rock. I'm not scared of Skarmory unless running Speed EVs which I doubt.
would the colbur berry be a viable item on aegis' automize set to help survive a sucker punch
Would using him as a wall/with a defensive or stall set be viable?
Not really. Spooky Sword doesn't have the right movepool to be a wall (WoW, Roar, Recover, Taunt, ect.). More importantly, Blade Forme has awful defenses, which means that it can't wall anything without sitting there and not attacking.
The bulky pivot set is a much better defensive choice. It has the bulk with Leftovers, can stop physical attackers just fine with King's Shield, and being a pivot with a powerful attacking presence is arguably a much better defence than sitting there and attempting to take all manner of hits.
If you want a wall, try Eviolite Doublade. Crossing swords is fun.
Can doublade take special hits though?
So I've actually been using LO and Head Smash on the thing, just to take Mandibuzz switch-ins by surprise, and it actually.. worked. I know it's terrible and the recoil is HUGE (it's nearly 70%), it does the job of killing off Mandi if hit by Head Smash followed by an Iron Head, most of the time. It's a gimmick though, and I won't be running it again, but it's worth it sometimes, just to bait in Mandi and kill it off. xD
The set I used was as follows:
Aegislash @ Life Orb
252 SpA / 40 Atk / 216 Spe
Rash
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Head Smash
- Iron Head
216 Spe outspeeds uninvested Mandibuzz.
