So what is the preferred nature and evs for a Dragon Dance Mega set? There's not one in the OP so I'm a bit confused. And what if you want to go mixed?
How to beat Mega Aggron with Megs Tyranitar?
How to beat Mega Aggron with Megs Tyranitar?
Rock Polish + Weakness Policy is what I run. On Mega Tyranitar, I feel like Dragon Dance is still the better option.I know that the Dragon Dance can be Great, but with Mega Tyranitar Incredible Attack Stat and it's low speed, and Adamant Rock Polish could be a really good option too!
Given the steel nerf, a DD set requires crunch (excellent coverage bar other dark, fairy and fighting, and you're switching out the latters because someone are bulky enough or have priority or, as Conkeldurr, both), then you usually go with Rock stab. Stone Miss is powerful but Rock Slide has its merits, namely 10% more accuracy and a flinch rate that can be useful once you're outspeeding the unboosted metagame. For the last moveslot, I use Earthquake because it laughs at King's Shield Aegi and provides good coverage. However, you miss even neutral coverage on Fighting/Grass pokes. Dark/Rock/Fire would be the better coverage, but Fire Punch isn't available yet outside of Japan. You can run a coverage special moves to hit specific targets (thunderbolt, ice beam, flamethrower or fire blast) or simply stick with EQ. EQ on my Weakness Policy DD/Rock polish TTar has saved me from an agility megaAmpharos certain late game sweep at least three times. I don't think double dark is worth on a DD set, and pursuit trapping shouldn't be one of DDset's task.+1 Jolly 252 Mega Ttar gets 397 speed, 394 is max +nature 130 base which means 248 EVs are required to outspeed everything unboosted at +1 (outside of stuff like Mega Alakazam, Mega Aerodactyl, Deoxys-S and some irrelevant mons like Electrode/Accelgor/Ninjask)
Not sure what to run on my in game Ttar though, lacking Superpower/Low Kick.
Do I go for Dragon Dance, Crunch, Stone Edge, Pursuit/Earthquake? I'm not sure mixed is worth it on a DD set, or if Pursuit is worth it on a sweeping/boosting set where your main goal should be setting up rather than pursuit trapping.
Any advice?
boys.. if i wanna use a tyranitar with rock polish and without mega.. how can i set the EVs? i have an adamant tyranitar.. that can have 221spe with 252 evs and 31 ivs... (i think) ... so with rock polish he can have 442spe.. i don't know if I actually need this... is there a bettere way to set up evs? i think that at least I have to set evs enought for have about 204 spe... just for overspeed fast megas like manectric.. am i right or i really need 252 attk 252 spe?
ps.. my move set is:
rock polish
crunch
eartquake
stone miss (better than rock slide..no?)
item: weakness p.
thanks for help! :D
Procing Weakness policy is nice for the buff but you're gonna have to watch out for anything that forces you to switch. +2 speed Tyranitar can only go so fast.
Put all you got into Attack with 252
I recommend from personal experience to maximize Speed as well with 252, Rock Polish is great but only so much.
I'm personally worried about the Fairy type threats: Mega Mawile, Azumarill, Granbull and Xerneas in particular.
Even access to Iron Head/Iron Tail doesn't do much to stop them.
Also the lack of Superpower at the moment really hurts him.
Well, Tyranitar is generally used as either an offensive Pokemon or as a Special tank. The extra physical bulk is great, but normal Tyranitar is still much bulkier than Mega Tyranitar because of the new item Assualt Vest. 100 / 150 Physical defense does sound great on paper, but it still can't take the most common physical hits like Close Combat, Earthquake, and U-turn. Also, Mega Tyranitar faces competition from other Mega Evo Pokemon, meaning it's going to see little to no usage.
