Other Silly Things You've Seen On The OU Ladder: V2

Why would you choice band a Pikachu? Light Ball multiplies its Attack by 2, which is certainly much better than 1.5x and move locked.

Most of these don't qualify as silly.
- That Gengar should've had Shadow Ball instead of Dark Pulse, but other than that I fail to see anything impossibly terrible about the set.
- Electivire is... okay. Not great, but inherently not terrible on account of being fully evolved and having a decent BST.
- Eviolite Dusclops is actually a decent wall.
- Ninjask is still used to Baton Pass, though why I'm not sure. Infiltrator Ninjask with Night Slash is a counter to Mega Gengar, though. (Silly fact of the day, right there!)
- Torterra is inherently not terrible for the same reasons as Electivire.
- Life Orb Ambipom with no moves other than Fake Out and Last Resort can actually do some serious damage.
- Shell Bell is usually silly, but Special Metagross is "usable"... with Power Herb Geomancy in Balanced Hackmons.
- Draco Meteor on Garchomp can actually hit physical walls for fairly major damage.

On another note:

http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/ou-89836496 — In which someone randomly sends me a personal challenge. Now, I haven't done much of anything in OU for a while, but I know enough to know that these sets are bad.

Featuring:
- Special-based Unnerve Tyranitar on an Air Balloon. In his defence, I was only able to set up my Mega Gardevoir sweep because he missed Blizzard three times in a row.
- Non-Drizzle Politoed that isn't Choice Specs, and seems to have a strange EV spread judging by how much damage Psyshock did and how little damage Hydro Pump did.
- Mega Aggron with no STAB that also has a really strange EV spread. My Shadow Ball did more than it should have, and his Earthquake did even less than it should have. Also, turns out that even with the resistance my Hyper Voice would've done more damage than Shadow Ball. XD
- Skarmory without HP EVs. Which he tried to switch in on Mega Gardevoir.
- Aerial Ace Metagross. That doesn't have full Attack investment.
- Air Balloon Celebi with a -Sp. Def nature, and that also has no Sp. Atk investment. Again, another situation where Hyper Voice would've done more damage had I bothered to calc it.

252 SpA Mega Gengar Sludge Wave vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Ninjask: 327-385 (100.3 - 118%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Ninjask Night Slash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gengar: 158-186 (60.3 - 70.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
It isn't a counter, nor is it even a check.

It can check the usual Perish Trapping set. Actually, it can check both sets.

Versus offensive Mega Gengar:
252+ Atk Choice Band Ninjask Night Slash vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Gengar: 236-278 (90 - 106.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Versus Perish Trap Mega Gengar:
252+ Atk Choice Band Ninjask Night Slash vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Mega Gengar: 236-278 (72.8 - 85.8%) -- 81.3% chance to KO from 75% (after Substitute usage)

It can't "check" it though, it can't live a hit from it whatsoever. It can leave it in low health, but it can't completely check it.

It can, theoretically, OHKO it. Takes a bit of luck, and is completely useless outside of this one limited purpose, of course.

Also, if you're running Adamant 252, then you need 156 Spe EVs to outspeed 252+ Mega Gengar, and assuming you aren't, then ya.

Actually, I'd run the calcs with 252 Attack, 252 Speed. But that's neither here nor there, since this Ninjask set serves literally no competitive purpose anyway, seeing as Mega Gengar is banned to Ubers, and this isn't the topic for this kind of discussion.

Insomnia is never a good thing, and obviously the same hold true for ladder players...

Found this:http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-89985223.
Not the weirdest thing I've seen, but that Heracross was a bit odd. Item especially.

I'm....yeah, just let the first turn speak for itself on this one.

Others things I've seen tonight:
Non-Guts Raticate in OU, Swords Dancing in front of Sableye. Oddly the rest of the team was decent.
Infernape outspeeding CharX but not a nonscarf Garchomp. Wormdam, and Hyper Beam Honchkrow.
http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/ou-89990485 - Kecleon, Surf Weavile?

Just watched a replay with an Umbreon - Swagger / Psych Up / Protect / ...and wait for it.... Foul Play. Gotta love copying all those boosts you can't use.

Granted, his opponent was using a Thunder Fang / Fire Fang / Dragonbreath Hydreigon, so it's pretty balanced.
