Alright, I have some questions to ask regarding the map.

a7xbJWH.png

1. What the hell is this? Where is the meteor falls? Is this a new area? (I don't remember it)

That's still Meteor Falls, it's just the exterior. Towards the left, you can see the cave entrance.

2. These swirls are weird, possible darkrai location? I hope.

I can only speculate that it's either a very bad storm, or the Distortion World. Pass.
Edit: The more I look at it, the more I think it is the distortion world. It looks very similar to what was shown on the Sinnoh map prior to Platinum's release.

3. That island seems a little odd, far ahead from anything else, anad no buildings on it, another legendary location?

There were a few odd, unused islands to the south originally, but I think that this is Southern Island, which may or may not see a comeback.

4. Is that the shipwreck or an abandoned island? It has green if I can see correctly.

It's a bit big for a ship, so I'm hoping that they expanded on that area.

5. The desert seems way too small :x Where is the mirage tower?

I don't notice anything odd about the desert, it looks about right. Mirage Tower was in Emerald, but it could just be that it isn't visible on the map. That range of mountains going from Chimney to Verdanturf is new, though.

6. It seems that Aqua's base has turned into a cave, oops.

7. Weird crator, it wasn't before, was it?

It was, but it was unused. It used to be smaller, though.

8. Another weird island, it is closer to the land than the previous one, but it is much, much bigger.

That also used to be there, but I had to look at the original map to confirm that to confirm that.

9. Am I the only one who notices that piece of land above the desert? Is that the possible new region mentioned in the trailer? HYPE

MORE NOTES:

Mirage Island (or whatever) seems to be gone.

A lot more dive locations.

The clouds could be covering more areas, including the beloved battle frontier.

Tell me what you think!

Replies in bold.

Ok, speculation hype time again! (sorry if I'll say "that place" "that thing"... it is waaaay difficult to remember English names of a game I played when I could barely say "My name is blabla").

Starting from... The big boys from Aqua and Magma are gonna have Mega Evolutions. Just look at Ivan (Archie, I remember this) and Max (Maxie... this was rather easy): they have the mega-icon on them. Speed Boost Mega Sharpedo with 150/125/115 offensive stats, anyone? Sand Stream Camerupt with a 999 series on his back? Ok let's stop this total madness.

Judging from the map, the first thing that caught my eyes is the Northern black Island. I have two possibilities for this: Darkrai (as someone already tipped)or, given that Darkrai is an event mon, that is an hidden channel to the reverse world and Sinnoh's guys are gonna come back. There's also a weird (and really, really... isolated) Island in the South. I hope is the Hidden den of either your Lati@s. or (and I really hope) it's the hidden den of the stationary Kami trio, especially Landorus, given how hard is to get him in game. Or just the useless Regigigas's new shelter. There's something weird with the Berries guy zone too. There's a large building that wasn't there if I recall correctly. But that could easily turn out to be the Villa of an annoying guy like in pretty much every game. Ah, and the South-east zone is waaaaaay too covered, but, if there isn't any battle frontier but a lone tower, GF you're not gonna get my money. The desert tower is there. It's in the Southern zone, barely viewable, but is there. No more Team Aqua's base outside that town, though. That's a shame. I'd loved to see that guy trying to make Wailmers jumping in 3D.

The third to have an ancient form is Quaza, almost 100%, and I wouldn' mind to see him grounded before he took the skies like 50444857 years ago. The forth one? Mhh... Deoxys came in BW with an event. Celebi can travel in time, maybe he was different way back? Regigigas is the most likely, though. We have all evidence that he got rusted in the meantime.

I zoomed the map, it is hard too see because, you know, pixels, but some things are cleared for me.

It seems that ontop of meteor falls there are craters and paths, now possibly accessible?

The contest halls are still here

The islands right to pacifidlog seem.. interesting, the bigger one seems unaccessible (blocked off by rocks) the closer one is unclear and the two ones to the east are most possibly accessible, with one having a settlement.

Wow. The video was kind of underwhelming, but the newly released map was a surprise.

This is the old Hoenn map, from Emerald. Below, the new map.
page02_img_01.png

I can see numerous changes:

1) Biggest and foremost, the ocean in the East. Now there are islands everywhere. It seems like the days of uninterrupted surfing are gone, this generation, we're going to be island-hopping.

2) Apart from Sootopolis, I count four islands with closed-off water ponds. I think at least two of those will be accessible by Dive only, namely the little o-shaped island northwest of Sootopolis, and the larger, a-shaped one in the bottom southwest.

3) Stuff happening where the Abandoned Ship used to be. Is the Battle Frontier rebranded/relocated? Have they expanded on the Abandoned Ship?

4) Big, white spot just south of Route 132. Is this Mirage Island, or a spot used to obscure something? It's too uniform to be a regular cloud.

5) Something eerie in the north. Distortion world? Darkrai at work? Warp zone to a different time, when Groudon and Kyogre were at the height of their power? We can only guess...

6) Rusturf Tunnel seems not to be aligned East-West anymore. It's been turned 45 degrees, now running Northeast-Southwest.

7) It might just be me and my pareidolia, but I see a face in the cloud in the northeast. Something with narrow eyes and long, spiky whiskers. It reminds me of the Genies, but doesn't look like any of them in particular.

8) Sky Pillar appears to be gone. EDIT: Or relocated to between Sootopolis and Ever Grande City.

9) Ever Grande City appears to be as un-city-like as ever. I seriously hope for a name change, they can't tease players with an entire city, only for it to have ONE building.

Also, when I say a big land above the desert, I mean the big coast of a possibly new region, not that hard to figure out.

EDIT: I am obviously paranoid or something, I clearly remeber a coast to the north and now I don't see it lol

EDIT 2: The smoke's darker shades made it look like an island lol

I think the issue is that no one sees this coast/land that you seem to be referring to. There's nothing of the sort at the top of the map.

No, the crater near sootopolis.
Aqua's base was a building next to lilycove city in the water.
It looks like it has some green though. (the shipwreck)
I thought about that, but might be some kind of red rocks or something, i think they were in the original game.

Also, where is the battle tower. (the tower that was under the desert)
Play through Sapphire like I did very recently and you'll remember it was a natural cave that had lots of construction in it that was disturbing the wailmer.
That crater is the Unown looking thing I mentioned.
The battle tower isn't on this map.

Erm.. see my post above

You are right on the cave, my apologies.

I am not mentioning this crater, I am saying about the crater close northwest to sootopolis, I can circle it for you

Hopefully Primal Groundon gets some physical fire moves to complement his new typing, Fire Punch and Flare Blitz or just for lolz heat crash (Groudon is the heaviest mon in the game ;))

It won't be able to hold an item so it might not affect ubers UNLESS it has perma rain.

Assuming Kyogre's SpA goes up to 200, Modest Primal Kyogre retains the ability to 2HKO 4/252 Bold Blisseg with full power Water Spout WITHOUT Stealth Rock and including Leftovers.

And it can switch moves. That's assuming nothing else, so it's safe to say that Kyogre's reign in Ubers will only increase.

Wow.... that is.... woah. Is that with rain?

That is with rain.

I wouldn't put it past GF to give these two signature 130 BP moves akin to BW's dragons, too. They're definitely going for that "all-powerful ancient behemoth/leviathan that crushes all" type feel, whereas XY's legends didn't really give that vibe.

Providing Primal Kyogre's sp attack goes to 200:

252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey in Rain: 432-508 (60.5 - 71.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

...ouch

EDIT:

Max Sp.Def blissey gets 2HKO provided kyogre is modest (scarf)

252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Blissey in Rain: 360-424 (50.4 - 59.3%) -- 81.6% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

This is definitely some kind of new archipelago accessed by dive. I know there's an item and a trainer in that area even in the originals so it may be purely aesthetic, but you never know.

All it needs is Freeze Dry and then there will be no such thing as a Kyogre counter.

Bye Palkia. Bye Gastrodon. Bye Felicia.

EDIT: Thought I'd have some fun with this. Assuming a +50 boost to SpA, Modest Kyogre would only lose 2% of it's current power when choosing Freeze Dry over Ice Beam (used 4/0 Zekrom as a baseline). Meanwhile:

548 SpA Kyogre Freeze Dry vs 4/0 AV Palkia: 83% - 98%

The only thing that resists all of Kyogre's attacks (I think, don't quote me) is Seaking (dat lightning rod)

Seaking4ubers

EDIT: 252+ SpA Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Seaking in Rain: 233-275 (64 - 75.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Nevermind

I have two theories about that dark-distortion-eerie-island thing in the North.
1. It's to do with Primal Devolution
2. It's where you can get the creation trio - this is under the assumption that they will be catchable in ORAS' aftergame, which seems highly likely given their current availability.

Meanwhile, the locations Sky Pillar and Battle Frontier were seem covered by clouds. Hmm.

Would really love to know about this island south of Pacifidlog. Really interests me somehow.
