Answer: (That I can't provide myself because limited internet data) Watch the video. Does releasing Megazard Y activate Drought? If yes, then yes. If no... well, you get the picture.
The video itself doesn't show shit with that. However, I severely doubt that hacking it in would leave it without an abillity. It's more of a question of whether or not the ability changes upon the mega mega-evolvingAnswer: (That I can't provide myself because limited internet data) Watch the video. it couldve been given another ability via hacking or something...i cant really see the video for some reason, so if there's evidence against, don't mind my ignorance please. lol.Actually, looking at it again now that I'm home and have a free moment, checking the sun's appearance in-battle in-game for comparison against the video, it does not appear to have activated Drought. There isn't any sunlight shining onto the battle field during all of this, nor is any shining on the bottom screen. Granted, the camera angles and low quality could just be making it hard to see. And he could have been out 6 turns for some reason as well.
Though without being able to compare stats beyond HP, and without knowing the IVs/EVs to compare anyway, I'm not calling anything for certain yet. The apparent lack of Drought suggests megas are cosmetic if hacked directly, but there's not enough proof here IMO. Especially not for something that'd have such a drastic impact on the meta.
Because we're not sure if it works in game. The simulator needs to reflect in game as close as possible, that's why we're researching it.Why are you talking about this? Soul dew, boosts mega-laties. Case closed.
Also you need to be sure to implement mega charizard Y being able to mega evolve into X, and vice versa, and the same with MM2.Because we're not sure if it works in game. The simulator needs to reflect in game as close as possible, that's why we're researching it.

Since people have been asking, I can guarantee that Megas are not cosmetic. That Charizard-Y was just hacked directly in via the Japanese editor thingy, but because the default ability for Charizar in the editor is Blaze and it wasn't changed, it had normal Charizard's Blaze instead of Drought. It still had the stats of Mega Charizard-Y, and you could have given it any damn ability or move you wanted via the hack thingy. Kind of like Hackmons, huh? ;)What I want is confirmation is if Megas are cosmetic or that Zard-Y either had its ability changes or waited for its sun to end. But I can't find anything on it via searching, except for that video since I know what to look for. My search-fu is weak.

Confirmation that ZardY's ability did activate upon being hacked in, according to the hacker.

I mean, for our purposes, it really doesn't matter, since anything can have any ability anyways.But... there's NO sunlight in the video. I just checked again. Same time of day, used Sunny Day before megavolving into X to simulate Drought. In my game, the sunlight is clearly visible prior, during, and after mega-evolution when using all the exact same moves and against the same opponent. In the video, there's not any sunlight at all. It's not a low quality or bad camera issue. That Zard-Y either didn't have Drought (either stuck with Blaze or was hacked a different ability) or the user, for whatever reason, waited for it to end before mega-evolving in that video.
Sorry if I'm coming across stubborn, but I like hard proof in these sorts of things. Like, hard proof that doesn't leave doubts.
Only question I have is if megas can mevo into themselves. The only X Y forme megas are charizard and mewtwos. Mewtwos don't like wasting an item slot and charizards are outclassed in BH if they use their standard abilities.Megas can now mega evolve on the sim. What new strategies could possibly be developed as a result?
