I kinda felt the same about Charmander/Charizard but in regards to Squirtle/Blastoise or even Wartortle. Isn't Bulbasaur more popular than Ivysaur in Japan? (At least, the anime makes it seem so, there've been like 2 or three different Bulbasaur so far)... Squirtle is probably more popular than Wartortle but Wartortle is one step closer to Blastoise and thus better IMO.

As previously mentioned I'm pretty sure the Final Smash for the Trainer will be either Blast Burn/Frenzy Plant/Hydro Cannon depending on the Pokemon, or a separate Pokemon that the trainer uses altogether. Hopefully not Mewtwo, because I want Mewtwo to make a comeback with buffed stats and attacks all-around.
 
As much as I like this update, and I know people will complain about "There are to many pokemon in Brawl" If there is even one more pokemon slot I feel that Lucario would be one of the best choices for them to make to fill that spot.
 
I shat myself when I saw this. =') I remember making a Squirtle moveset but not seriously considering that he'd actually BE in Brawl...wow.

I'm just shocked right now...and intensely excited. Easily the best update for me...probably the best they could have made. =D

Stamina thing seems kind of gay to me though. I don't see why a Pokemon should lose "stamina" because they've been out too long...look at Pikachu/Jigglypuff/ESPECIALLY Pichu if it makes it in.

And I'm interested to see how he would be implemented in the Subspace Emissary. If characters in that mode are affected by their own burdens in their respective games, then how the hell will the PT go along?
I'm thinking, "Holy shit, I have to go complete my Pok'eDex!"

you bring up a good point that i hadn't thought about yet...idk that'd be a little weird.
 
If there are alt costumes in this game as some people have speculated, I would pee myself if Blue was the one for Red.

this is crazy. Hopefully it doesn't mean Mewtwo is going to get kicked out, that wouldn't make much sense.
 
Controversial? Well, I stay away from pretty much all Smash-exclusive forums. Only SmashBoards. I left NSider's Smash Board ages ago and was never really a part of the GFAQs SSB boards.

Good thing, too; that place is a fucking hellhole, full of idiots, people who can't spell/use grammar, etc.

Smashboards I haven't been to in awhile but I don't often have much to contribute, I'll only be going there once the game is released to find out what advanced maneuvers there are in Brawl.
 
I think alternate costumes equaling different in game trainers [ie May/GSC dude/etc...] would be pretty cool. Doubtful though, seeing as all three Pokes are Kanto exclusive...maybe FRLG girl? Ash and Gary could make a special appearance. =O
 
well with the character having such emphasis on using all three pokemon as pretty much a single character (rather unlike Zelda/Sheik), I'd expect the final smash to involve all three pokemon at the same time.

yeah that'd be cool...all three using the ele-hyparbeems?
 
I'm thinking the final smash won't be something the Pokemon themselves use...after all, the character is Pokemon Trainer. I think it will involve him in some way...perhaps throwing out a crapload of Pokeballs which automatically attack the enemies in their own unique ways, or perhaps, a legendary Pokemon...I'd like to see Darkrai/Arceus, but I think Mewtwo would be more likely since I doubt he'll be returning as an individual character.
 
God damn, the thing I find funny about this will be more pokemon throwing pokeballs. Lucario had better show up or I'm gonna be pissed.
 
i don't see why people think mewtwo wont return...just because he sucked. he will prolly still suck in brawl i cant see them making huge changes to his moveset

I know no one will believe me, but i called this last night.

Sitting with my friends (both who left for college this morning), we were speculating who would/wouldn't be in brawl. It dawned on me "Is there any reason Ash couldn't be in brawl?"

"He's from the anime. not a game."

"Yeah, but why not like the R/B/Y Trainer?"

"That's retarded. What would he even do?"

"Iunno, use pokemon?"

"Shut up Patrick, that won't happen."

It seems crazy. I second the Hydro Cannon/Blast Burn/Frenzy Plant, which would be cool, switching the pokemon to use the right FS at the right time?
Amazing.
 
I think entry's are going to return from SSB. Because now that PT is out, I don't see Squirtle at the start of the battle appearing on a glowing platform like how they did in Melee. The Trainer would have to throw the Pokeball and shiz.

Mario could come out of the pipe.

Link could come out of a Twilight Warp thing.

Zelda can appear using Farore's Wind.

Fox can be beamed down, from a ship.

etc. etc. etc.

I sure do hope entry's return.
 
Seems kinda cool, even though I won't enjoy using him. The friend I play with will love it though

Would this mean Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise will no longer be pokeballs? I know it isn't known for sure either way, but I'm asking what you all think.
 
Some how, I though of this charictor when melee came out.... Although I thought it would be ash way back when....


my guess for a final smash is which ever pokemon is out using Frenzy plant, Blast burn or hydro cannon.
