is there a confirmation on SPACE yet?
it would be a good postgame area, wild clefairies and gastlys and jirachi has been infected with a virus you need to cure. in both games the virus turns out to be deoxys, but in sapphire you cant catch it and jirachi joins your party out of gratitude. in ruby you can catch deoxys and jirachi does not join you

edit so this doesnt take up a new post: fingers still crossed for secret planets instead of secret bases
I know he's trolling, but is it wrong that I legit want this?

Someone in the old thread asked for a translation for this video ...

If someone already did that or if another translation got uploaded somewhere (I guess there should already be an official english translation out there, but whatever), no need to read this at all. As there isn´t anything important said in that video and feel lazy right now, I´m only doing a recap about what´s being said.

For those who´re curious about what´s being said:

Junichi Masuda introduces himself, welcomes the guests to the fair and asks if the pokemon fans liked Pokemon X & Y.
Then he starts focusing on the new games.

After the "Hoenn confirmed!" part, he talks about that the inspiration for the Hoenn area was the japanese island of Kyushu,
where his grandparents as well as a large part of his family lives, and that, because of that, he often spend his summer holidays there.

Then he´s talking about various activities he did back then (swimming in the sea, catching fish, camping in the mountains
as well as searching for bugs and stuff like that) and that, for him, Kyushu is a special place where he could always feel
like he´s one with nature.

Some stuff about his great memories about the days when he made Ruby and Saphire and then some details about the production
of the new games (about putting Shigeru Ohmori in charge of the project, ecetera. well known stuff). After that an explenaion why he put Ohmori in charge.

Ohmori appears himself and explains some somewhat unimportant stuff about how happy he was to be put in charge of
that project.

Ohmori then starts talking about that he wanted are familiar with the original game to feel right at home, but that at the
same time, he adjusted some parts of the game (especially the story) as to allow for new discoveries. Some basic list
about the new additions follows (new mega evolutions, new Groudon and Kyogre, improved secret bases and "much more")
so that even Veteran players don´t get tired of the game anytime soon. Some additional fluff about wishing new players
to be happy with the game, too, and, soon after, they introduce a new mega evolution most people likely didn´t expect at all.
Well they certainly accomplished that last part in spades with the brilliance of Mega Audino. So left field, it feels like now ANYONE else could possibly get a Mega Evolution in addition to the ones already revealed. Shame there isn't really anything else about that video though.

On another note, which I forgot to include in my last post, (in addition to it seeming like an older trailer making me look like a fool with Marts now being on their own again...hopefully the contents are still tied to the number of badges one has) it's really nice to apparently have confirmation that Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre have brand new moves. It'd be even nicer if we could get more information on these guys at some point, but I'm not about to hold my breath for it.

Here we go again...
Nah actually space seems really cool. Maybe the dark clouds on the top of the map are some sort of warp to the moon or other planets where a Jirachi/Deoxys falls and you can catch them.

Well we already have secret bases so yeah

Does ORAS keep the character customisation features introduced in X & Y (or improves them any further, as some of these aspects, especially for male trainer characters, were still somewhat lacking) or are they planning to make them somewhat version exclusive to those games staring in the (apperantly) style and fashion obsessed Kalos region?

If you have the option to make your secret base on the moon then you already know that no one is gonna build their secret base anywhere else.....

I believe we have no confirmation of this yet. The closest thing we know is that you get alternative costumes for contesting. And these costumes match Cos-play Pikachu. The male trainer has been shown in the Rocker look and the female trainer in the Idol look. Speculation is that you maybe be able to dress up in male and female versions of all 5 of Pikachu's costumes. It's also unknown if you can wear those outfits outside of a contest. However besides that there is no other indication of customizing your appearance... yet. (I'm personally still expecting it, but they may want to keep Brendan and May looking somewhat "classic" throughout the whole adventure, so idk)

The alternate costumes to me are soft confirmation that customization is a no-go. It seems pointless to do that when you could just dress up all the time. Plus, there's really no reason they'd wait to confirm it, except maybe they haven't gotten around to making the alternate costumes yet, but that seems unlikely to me. If they really were going to bring it back, I would've expected it to be at least mentioned by now.

I kind of feel like Brendan and May are characters who are established enough that they likely won't really be allowed for character customization. I also think that, unless there's a large enough outcry, then the other pre-Gen VI protagonists won't really see major changes in their design options either, when more remakes come around, but that's completely irrelevant.

Anyway, the Secret Base reveal also provided additional soft confirmations that there would be no character customization, when it showed friends through various trainer classes, rather than individualized versions of Brendan and May. We do know that Brendan will have the option of going Rocker and May can be an idol, and they may receive variations of the other Cos-chu outfits to one extent or the other, but I expect that to be the widest range of customization that will be available.

1) I would totally put my secret base on the moon, though my gym team I made for it wouldn't make much sense...
2) The Pikachu has been confirmed in Corocoro to be a special Pikachu, especially for the costumes. No other Pikachu can do this (so unless the gift Cosplay Pikachu has Volt Tackle normally and doesn't forget it for the bonus move, we won't have a Volt Tackle/Icicle Crash combo).

Actually...where's the Mega Bangle on Brendan and May? We know for a fact that Mega Evolution will be featured in contests, so they would need it. (Just an observation, probably just an oversight by Game Freak)

I believe the key stone is in the heart on May's bracelet. (I don't remember where I saw that, though) And there's one somewhere on Brendan too I'd assume. As for Cosplay Pikachu, yes, it has been confirmed that it is one special Pikachu. The black tipped tail is the sign of cosplay-chu. It's not an event though, just a special Pikachu you get one of per save file. It joins your party after you compete in your first contest: The Source So very unlikely you can have sets that combine Icicle Crash with Voltackle and pretty much a given you can't combine it with event moves.
(My moon team: 3 Clefairy, 2 Luntone, 1 Cresselia)

EDIT: Here's another clean image of contest outfits. I don't actually see the key stone directly but they are both wearing distinct wrist-wear on the same arm as their Mega Bangle. I'd feel pretty safe saying that's where they key stone is.

The Japanese website had the variations with the key stones

Probably just a mixup when the assets were handed over to the local branches

I did say "gift" (meaning it is given to you in normal gameplay, such as Lucario in X and Y).
Yeah, those bracelets do seem like the likely place for the Key Stones.

Speaking of which, is there any plausible reason Cosplay Pikachu is a different pokémon altogether? I can't see why they thought it was a good idea, both design- and mechanic-wise. Wouldn't it be simpler to just say that some Pikachu enthusiatic NPC crafted some special clothes that Pikachu seem to like to wear, or something? Why make it so that only one Pikachu can/likes to/whatever wear them?

Does that mean were going to have to SR for special pikachus?
I might be like the gift Lucario in XY (or the gift Zorua in B2W2) in that it has a set nature and gender.

We can already imply it's always female based on the heart-shaped tail (even if the black marking is new), and the only screen shot of the gender/stats screen is female as well.

Not sure why they decided to make this a separate Pikachu (kinda wish they'd let any Pokemon wear costumes, but alas), but it does make me wonder if more will be different about this particular Pikachu than just the costumes and resulting signature moves? Maybe it'll be like AZ's Floette with boosted stats or something? Probably not super likely, but it's a fun thought.

A question about potential Megabro movesets: Shell Armor negates crits, right? Wouldn't that make CroBro > CroCune? Especially considering the BST of MegaBro:
590 > 580 from Suicune. Furthermore Bro being as slow as always, means that the 100 points are going to defenses and attacks.

Not sure if it'll be outright better than Suicune, but I think if there's one kind of Slowbro that'll appreciate the Mega form, it's Calm Mind versions. Since you don't really want to switch out once you start boosting with Calm Mind, the loss of Regenerator will be much less of an issue. Not to mention the immunity to critical hits, lessened damage from Knock Offs, and immunity to Trick and Switcheroo.

I'd love that, but Floette is a very special case, and I think they would refer to Cosplay Pikachu as a "forme" it if had any stat increases.

I got a few technical ideas in response to this, mostly about restricting the amount of "active" costumes to one, or prevent trading errors, but then I remember that the special Pikachu can most likely be traded, at least between ORAS games.

It will be interesting to see if it can be traded to XY, though. More specifically, if it will retain specialness upon being traded back.

Technical stuff aside, though, it could be to underline the specialty of this rare costumed Pikachu. GameFreak would like players to use the costumes feature (because it's so darn marketable), so Pikachu is handed out as a gift. To make it even more special, the Pikachu is given unique features no other Pikachu have.
Also, and it dawns on me that this might be the main reason: It will most likely be impossible to evolve into Raichu. Special Pikachu is special, and special Pikachu is going to stay special Pikachu, evolution be damned! This would also prevent the problem of players evolving their special costume-carrying Pikachu to see if Raichu also can wear the costumes, and be disappointed when it turns out it can't - and then Pikachu will be gone. Many tears would be shed because kids don't grasp the "quit without saving" trick, so Pikachu is Pikachu-locked from the beginning.

Speaking of special features of Pokémon, we've seen a few now, haven't we? Different Spinda, Notched-ear Pichu, now this Pikachu, Vivillon, Shellos/Gastrodon... I hope that one day, GameFreak will allow texture variations on all Pokémon. In the Anime (most prominently in the Orange Islands), we've seen blue-eyed Pikachu, Vileplume with rings instead of spots, Butterfree with different wing patterns, Orange Weepinbell, Alakazam/Gengar/Jigglypuff with markings, and so on and so forth. It would be great if more Pokémon were given unique textures/markings depending on their region, and it would often be a matter as easily as slapping a slightly different texture on an extant Pokémon model.

I don't think we'll be able to trade the Cosplay Pikachu. Why do I say this? Remember her?:

For those who don't remember, this is the Spiky-Eared Pichu. Before the release of HeartGold and SoulSilver, there was an event where you got the "Pikachu-colored Pichu" (also known as a shiny Pichu) on your copy of Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum. You would trade it over to HeartGold or SoulSilver and go to the Ilex Shrine with it (and an empty slot in your team). The Spiky-Eared Pichu will appear, befriend your shiny Pichu, and she will join your party.
This Pichu can't evolve (due to "time-travel", I kid you not) nor can it be traded to other Generation IV games (the data for it doesn't exist in those games). You also can't send it forward to Generation V on (why the hell did they even make this?). The only stats that are different from normal Pichu are the Pokéathlon stats. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cosplay Pikachu has similar properties (can't be traded* nor evolved plus some extra benefit to help it perform better in contests).
Game Freak, just don't let this be another remake-only Pokémon.

*though the data for it might be patched in (and let's not start another conversation about this. I'm just saving everyone else time by mentioning it myself).

It would not be an issue at all. Pokémon data still has unused trash bytes, they could use one or two of them as a Cosplay flag and allow Pikachu to keep its special characteristic.

It's in moments like this I have to agree with people that say Game Freak might sorely regret creating Raichu.

Well this could go one of three ways.
1) Cosplay-Chu done got the exact same stats as a Normal-Chu
2) Cosplay-Chu is like Floette and by nature of being this one specific Pikachu it's has alternative base stats that are nicer.
3) Cosplay-Chu is like Rotom, while naked she's got the stats of a Pikachu but the costumes she wears alter her base stats.
if you pointed a gun at me and made me bet my money I'd put it on 1 but honestly all 3 seem very possible to me.

So, who's for Cos-chu being able to breed, but her babies will be pichus with spiky ears, who like their mother, will be unable to evolve. Eh? Any takers?
lol, would be fun for sure. And it deffinitley would appeal to all the more... "little girl" type players who are into littler personified Pichus and their mother that plays dress up... I guess I'm for it but kind of imagine it unlikely.

Tonight when I get home I'mma draw a picture of Lt. Surge emotionally cradling his Raichu and yelling that he won't let gamefreak have it.

If one day I wake up, do my morning stuff, then get to OI, and see a thread titled "guys raichu is gone for good wtf gf dont troll us like that" on which they have a video from The Pokemon Company that says Raichu's being erased from Pokemon and some other Electric-type Pokemon would take his place, I wouldn't be surprised at all. Though Lt. Surge would probably do this:

The last part is the most important. It was impossible to add data to previous games. Now it isn't anymore.
