On a mega pinsir set is Close Combat nessecary? I have a shiny jolly pinsir that doesn't have close combat or quick attack. Can this set still work?
Equake
Stone Edge
Double Edge/Return
Swords Dance
252 Att 252 Spe 4 Hp
Pinsirite
Close Combat is the way to go unfortunately. Stone Edge is inconsistent and hits almost the same types as Flying does. With Close Combat, you have a 120BP that can reliably hit Rotom-W and Skarm, etc.

I've SR for a Bold Diancie however im torn between which set to use
Croancie

Although, if you are unable, or hard pressed, to find another Pinsir with usable IVs/Evs, that Pinsir would actually make a surprisingly good lure for pokemon like Zapdos and Thundurus, common checks, that both get smacked by Stone Edge. It's not as reliable as cc, but it does give you a surprise factor.

However, without quick attack, this set won't really be able to flourish as well as normal M-Pinsirs, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem, you'd just have to worry about faster threats a little more.

Ok ill try it. I normally battle my friend who are scrubs and don't smogon sets so i shouldn't have any trouble with my pinsir there but with online battle i might have trouble

Given that we've now got an ORAS viability ranking thread, does that mean it's assumed we've found all the new changes that are coming via data mining or is it just preemptive to the games coming out in the knowledge that more new stuff could be on the way?

We're not sure there's any new stuff (the demo was pretty much mined top to bottom). It is a little suspicious that they revealed all the new Megas before hand... The Orange Islands sub-forum (can't link because I'm on my mobile) has talked extensively about this subject, you should head over there.

I was wondering how to deal with mega sableye, I was vs. some dude and his mega sableye destroyed me. Can somebody help?
The best non-mega counter to Mega-Sableye by far is Clefable, particularly the Unaware variant. If you want something more offensive, Choice Specs Sylveon is a good counter too. If you can afford to dedicate your mega slot to countering Mega-Sableye, Mega-Gardevoir and Mega-Altaria and are also very good answers.

edit : double ninja'd

Okay, thanks, is the Salamence supposed to be 0 happiness cause of ditto?

Salamence has a large number of sets. You can run a bulkier spread with Substitute or Refresh over Earthquake, a mixed or special set with Return/Fustration or Hyper Voice, Fire Blast, Draco Meteor, and Earthquake or Hydro Pump, or even a mixed DD set with Return, Fire Blast, and Draco Meteor or Earthquake.

Gallade has a couple of options too, it can run Substitute over either Zen Headbutt or Knock Off, while this does leave it walled by either Fairies or Psychics, it enables Gallade to set up over Status users such as Mew and Rotom-W. Taunt is a pretty niche but still viable option which achieves more-or-less the same purpose, while stopping the opponent from recovering.

also TheEnder your answers may be faster but mine contain more information so there.

He asked for some good sets, and while you may have posted more options, I gave my my personal preferance on the sets. Of course, sets may depend from team to team, with Gallade having the option to go 4 Attacks, Sub, or even Agility, and Salamence having a plethora of sets, whereas Special, Mixed, Specially Defensive Facade, Bulky Body Slam all are good options. Heh.
