Question: I was wondering how I get a good breeding ditto ORAS? I have a ditto from gts but it doesn't have any IVs maxed and it has a bad nature

http://reddit.com/r/breedingdittos

Another far less reliable method, but a method nonetheless, is hopping onto the GTS and searching for a Ditto. A large number people put in which of their Ditto's IVs are perfect, and you can select whichever one fits your needs, that you have something to trade with.

This is horrible advice. Scamming people by claiming rubbish dittos are 6IV is one of the oldest tricks since the GTS began!

What are Mega Altaria's counters and checks, broadly? My initial thought is "most steels" but Scizor can't switch into a Fire Blast and Heatran can't take Earthquake. Alternatively; reliable scout for scouting Altaria's sets.
i miss the smogdex's checks and counters section ;_;

It really depends on the set, steels are safe if it lacks fire blast and tran is safe if it doesn't have EQ.
Poison types such as Gengar, mega Venusaur, and Amoonguss work pretty well.
The defensive dragon dance set is walled by unaware clefable, while the special set is obviously handled by specially bulky pokemon like Chansey and cresselia.

Why do people use Roost over Recover on Latias? I'm sure there's a good reason but they have the same PP, whilst Recover doesn't remove her ground weakness

So one of the upcoming battle spot competitions has a HA tyrunt as a prize. Is it worth opening a new thread about Tyrantrum since now he has access to Rock Head? Unfortunately the PGL is notoriously untrustworthy regarding stuff like this, and for this contest it actually lists the tyrunt's ability as being Rock Head when its correct HA is Sturdy.

Dragon Dance + recoil-less Head Smash looks fun.

Roost only removes flying type, it doesn't remove levitate.

Recover does not remove its ground weakness, that's only for flying-types. Roost and recover on lati@s are literally the same.

I always thought it removed levitate, too. Huh.

I honestly do not see this as anything more than a fun little gimmick. It's the absolute defitinion of one-dimensional; even losing it's amazing coverage in pseudo-STAB crunch/elemental fangs.

Were crunch + fangs really used very often though? From my experience back in early XY I mostly saw ddance/stone edge/eq/dragon claw, with the occasional ice fang on choiced sets.

It's also got some new things from move tutors, like outrage and superpower.

I remember Joey (PokeaimMD) saying why he uses Roost over Recover in one of his vids. He said that some players think think that Roost removes the Ground immunity of the Lati twins, and think that they can bop it with an EQ, only to be met with disappointment when it fails. So yeah, I think its mostly for those players.
In practice, there is no difference; both restore 50% of the user's HP.

They weren't used, just like nothing about Tyrantrum was used in OU. Nothing about it makes it viable, and I doubt recoil-less head smash is enough to make up for that.

Sometimes when the opponent uses Imprison to block off Recover. Roost being the rarer healing move on most Imprison-ers.

There's a thing called. "Mega Sableye" that, in fact, has both moves.
The thing is, it won't/doesn't currently use Imprison. The reasoning for this is simple. Mons that use Recover AKA Psychic types don't usually stay in on Mega Sableye, in fear of Dark/Ghost Stab and Magic Bounce...

The Bulk Up set that Talonflame used to run during XY has now been more or less replaced by an identical Swords Dance set... correct me if I'm wrong, but that's because SD allows it to boost through Sableye, which presumably Bulk Up doesn't allow, right? Is that the only reason? Right now I have Sableye covered in the rest of my team so if that's the only reason I'll default back to Bulk Up, since that defense boost is really appreciated.

Yes, that's correct - SpDef SD talonflame is great for stallbeaking because it can boost alongside and faster than CM Mega sableye.

I made a new team I'm rather fond of, but I have a glaring weakness to Zard Y in the sun (Fire moves drop Metagross,Magnezone,Weavile./Solar Beam crushes keldeo, and lando-t isn't a fan either./Dragon Pulse stops my latias.) I also share a similar weakness to heatran, who stops everything short of keldeo/lando, which doesn't matter, because they will switch as soon as they see it. Is there a mon out there that can cripple or eliminate both?
