XY OU Rate my Team: Mega Scizor

This is the first team I have built myself without any help. Personally I think it has potential but of course, there will always be flaws with every team, but I am not the most experienced pokemon player either. Thank you for the feedback in advance!

Notable Threats:
CM Clefable
CM Mega Sableye
Zard-Y
Curserlax
Hazards

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Atk / 88 Def / 116 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Superpower
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit

Scizor is the core of this team as I wanted to use it in a team and is the mega of this team and the physical attacker. The HP and SpD invests allow Scizor to survive certain attacks, then allowing it to roost (if it can take another) to heal up or switch out into another poke. Swords dance allows Scizor to be even more lethal, given it's mega ability, allowing bullet punch to out speed others (due to priority) and deal even more damage, the knock off is there to deal with ghost and psychic pokes and hinder potential stall pokemon.

Landorus-Therian-Forme_BW.gif

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 232 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn

I chose Landorus-T in this team because of it's bulk and it's potential to turn battles around. He will play the physically defensive pokemon in this team, as well as the hazard setter. Stealth rocks allows me to shut out potential threats such as talonflame and zards to an extent (given they take 50% damage from stealth rocks) limiting their potential to sweep. EQ allows me to deal with fire types such as heatran and covers for Scizors weakness to fire. U-turn and knock off are their for situational needs, u-turn allowing me to switch out and knock off their for the damage and to stop potential stalls.

latios___gif_by_deexalis-d2y0lie.gif

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Recover
- Psyshock
- Earthquake

I chose Latios because this is one of the most threatening pokemon out there. It will be the special attacker on this team and was ahead of any others by a mile. With its SpA ev investment and speed investment along side the timid nature, it is able to out speed most pokes, and if they aren't overly specially defensive, can be seriously damaged by a draco, or even killed. Recover allows for Latios to have increased survivability. Psyshock is Latios' stab move and can also deal with poison types which can hurt Clefable.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hydro Pump

Rotom is without doubt one of my favourite pokemon which is why it made this team, as well as being immensely bulky. It has great SpD. and HP stats which is why it takes the specially defensive slot on this team. Volt switch allows it to switch out should it ever be threatened, and get of some damage in the process. Pain split gives it increased survivability and also allows it to wear down other pokes to a certain degree. Will-O-Wisp allows it to break stalls and wear down potential threats. Hydro pump is there for damage.

Clefable_XY.gif

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell
- Moonlight

Clefable is in this team due to how bulky and annoying it can be. It will be the support / cleric of the team that is their to cure any status effects and heal up other pokemon. Twave is their to slow down, and sometimes stop dead, overly fast pokemon, such as latios / latias, which makes it easier for other pokes to come in and take the kill. Moonblast is their for damage and to deal with dark / fighting types which can be of annoyance (such as machamp, who has put in some work againts this team). Heal bell and wish are there to make sure Clefable can keep the team working without any problems.

663_-_talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Sleep Talk
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird

Talonflame makes this team because of how threatening and versatile this pokemon is. In this team it will play the role of a lead pokemon (because of its fantastic speed stat) and a revenge killer (if it is not the most viable lead) U-turn allows it to escape difficult situations upon switch in (if it gets predicted to be my switch). Sleep talk is part of this moveset in case it gets put to sleep, and still allows talonflame to put in some work for my team. Flare blitz and brave bird are both very damaging moves, and given its gale wings ability, allows Talonflame to gain priority when using brave bird.

EDIT (1/26/2015): Changes made to Scizor, Latios, Rotom-W, Clefable and Talonflame.
Also looking to replace one un-needed poke for a hazard remover / setter

EDIT 2 (1/26/2015): Had a few battles on PS since I made changes to this team. So far there haven't been too many threats which I cannot deal with but fighting pokes are punishing to me, and as talon is lead / revenge killer, if rocks are up fighting types can demolish me.

For scizor, I would either go the Roost +3 attacks route, or the Swords Dance route. Roost is more for defensive Scizors that want the sustain and too wittle down opponents, while Swords dance is better for the setup sweeps. If you decide the Roost route, U-Turn should replace Swords Dance. Even though it doesn't get the Technician Boost, it does get STAB. If you run Swords Dance, Superpower or Pursuit can replace Roost. In fact Pursuit might be worth considering over Knock off in either build as Scizor tends to lure out Fire type switches and Landorus already has Knock Off on your team.

I don't believe Sleep Talk works well with Choice Band, unless you swap out and back in. On Talonflame with the prevelance of Stealth Rock, that isn't a good strategy, as Stealth Rock will damage you by 50% health. I'm not sure what you can run over it however.

Lastly, as with most Volt-Turn teams, you need to be on the lookout for enemy hazards. If you can manage it, Latios carn learn Defog in DPLPT, though obviously this isn't the easiest competitive pokemon to obtain. Scizor can also learn Defog as an egg move, but requires a parent that knows the move and usually leads the Scizor build to be more defensive then Roost Scizor. Mandibuzz is a competitive defogger that is easy to obtain in generation 6. If you want your entry hazards to stay while removing the opponent's hazards, consider Rapid Spin over it.

Hopefully this was more helpful then confusing.

Roost SD Mega Scizor is a really good pokemon in the XY meta, but the set you are using belongs to the bulky spread for the ORAS meta, using a similar one to the XY one would be better. Using a 248 HP / 56 Atk / 88 Def / 116 SpD with an Adamant Nature would be better because it has more power, which can hurt counters, such as Heatran, on the switch harder. Which survives Hydro Pump + burn damage from Rotom-W, has more power, and very similar Defense to the 0 Def with Impish.

I also recommend using Earthquake over Hidden Power Fire on Latios, since it will not only enable for Latios to speed tie with other Lati@s and Gengar but also hit Heatran, which is problem for your team.

SpD Rotom-W doesn't really do much, especially in the XY meta, so why use it?
Instead, using a set of 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe with a Bold Nature does not only improve your matchup vs. Mega Pinsir, Talonflame, Bisharp, and other (Mega) Scizors, but also outspeeds Jolly Azumarill which can be a threat to your team after a BD.

Furthermore, a completely specially defensive set on Clefable is also not the best. Not investing in Defense enables Clefable to lose against Psyshock Latios, Mega Gyarados, and even to Landorus-T. Instead, using a spread of 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD with a Calm Nature does not only becomes much better at handling Latios, but also takes +1 Waterfall from Mega Gyarados better and counters Greninja, avoiding the 2HKO from Hydro Pump. I also do not like Wish without Protect, so Moonlight over Wish is a much better option, really.

Thank you for the help :D and any form of defog could be difficult to obtain, but luckily I do have a defog latias which could be used in latios' place?

Ok, thanks for the help! My team building is kinda poor, and I am kinda new to competitive. Since the release of ORAS I haven't really bothered with it yet but i really want to get into it so I really appreciate the help! ^.^

In game, ivs are more important thn simple access to the moves, (you dont have to worry about them in showdown though). if Latias is battle ready, you can use it, but note that any ADV Latias (ie. a Latias from RSE) is bugged to have bad ivs due to a glitch. Also Latias is more defensive then Latios, which means it will last longer, but not hit as hard. Still it is great if you can use it. Good luck!
