(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

Yeah, and that's why I hate that it's so ugly.

Are you talking about the vague Taillow silhouette creature that picks you up when you use Fly? I'm not bothered but it, though it would be cool if they could make a flying model for all the big Pokemon i the Regional Dex that you can see carrying you. However that would be considered a very trivial detail.

Or are you talking about Mega Latios/Latias when you're Soaring? This also goes back to Detective Barricade post. Considering normal Latios and Latias are able to support your AND Steven, I do find it kind of odd that every time you use Soaring you need to Mega Evolve the Eon Pokemon. I suppose Mega Evolving allows you to go at high speeds and do those tricks, though if it make the cutscene shorter I wouldn't mind riding them in their normal form (would still like to have a speed boost, though).

Was talking about the vague (disgusting) silhouette. How do you see a Taillow in it? I'm extremely bothered with it and it doesn't look like a Pokémon.

This silhouette also appears in a freaking cinematic, when Steven flies away on a mon of his. I mean, they could've at least done it well in a cinematic..

And though XY and ORAS combined gives you access to most Pokemon, there are still some Pokemon you can't get with a pentagon internationally. At least in the US, we still haven't gotten an event for a Mew, Jirachi, Darkrai, Manaphy, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect. Of course Japan has made sure to release many of these Pokemon in various ways, though they themselves are missing Mew, Manaphy, Meloetta, and Genesect (and Arceus, though one is being given out for the next movie).

But as Jibaku pointed, the pentagon thing does help clear the way by getting rid of many Pokemon who over the years was released as an Event and got a special move out of it. Still, I do think by the end of Gen VI they should have planned a way for all nations to have had some way to get access to every single Pokemon. Heck, I'd argue ORAS could have done it, they could have made special Mirage Spots only accessible if you have a certain item given out by events.

FUN FACTS:
1. Mew hasn't been given out since 2010 as a HGSS event.
2. So far the only legal (pentagon) Jirachi is Shiny.
3. Though Manaphy isn't legal, Phione is! :P

I use Fly when I just want to get to a city/route. Soaring is fun and all, though at this point it's become a novelty I only use to get to my daily Mirage Spot.
And I Soar to where I want to go because it doesn't require any specific Pokemon to be in my party at the time. Then again I'm either SR'ing a legendary or sticking a Pokemon with Ditto and hatching at Battle Resort, so...

Here's something that only now has really annoyed me: how Mega Slowbro is presented in both the official artwork and in-game model.
When we all first saw Mega Slowbro, I don't think many of us liked it:
Screen%20Shot%202015-03-12%20at%206.05.42%20PM_zpsggkbsbpm.png

Look at that face. It is begging for the sweet release of death. This is especially bad considering the expression on both regular Slowbro and Slowpoke, which is blissfully unaware.
It doesn't get much better when you see the in-game model:
slowbro-mega.gif

While the expression isn't as strong as the official artwork, it still isn't very happy.

What saddens and annoys me is how cool this design can be just by changing the pose and expression:

Look how cool that is. Mega Slowbro looks ready to fight and it is so dynamic. It isn't pitiful like it shown officially.

At least the animated trailer for ORAS did a better job at portraying Mega Slowbro. At least it looks happy:

Isn't that the whole point of the design though? Of course it looks sad because it is, well, being eaten alive. Its expression was a solid design choice in my opinion.

Not the mention the fact that it is stuffed in a position that makes an astronaut EVA suit look roomy and otherwise not cramped. And it has to balance itself on it's tail throughout the whole battle, otherwise, it'll be target practice.

I think that's also the point. There are a number of relevant moves from past gens that are incredibly hard to obtain and/or event exclusive. Things like Sheer Cold Suicune, ES Entei, Follow Me Magmar (im looking at you Sejun), Softboiled Clef, Eruption Heatran, etc that require you to really go far back which a lot of people won't have access to unless they hack it in anyways or just get some super outdated game. Since it's more likely that people will hack those mons in anyways, it's not the worst idea to make them illegal in the first place. Plus, I'm also quite certain that gamefreak's not a fan of RNGing and probably view it as a form of hacking and they don't think any competitively relevant mon (esp. legends) from the past gen is legit anyways.
I honesty didn't think of exclusive past ten moves, I see the point. It really just demotivates me from playing the previous gens, knowing any good pokemon I get wont be usable (thank you smogon for not banning those). They made everything obtainable within 6th generation, but I dont really see that as an excuse for letting down all our old friends we spent countless of hours getting. They could have made move/pokemon combinations illegal, which would have saved the format at least. Gamefreak sure don't like hacked pokemon, but it's not particularly harder to hack in this gen anyways.

Black Sludge bugs me. It's completely unnecessary in its current state, since it's literally the exact same thing as Leftovers, except only a Poison type can hold it. That thing needs a buff--make it heal more, let it poison if Flung, something. The only real use it has is if you're playing with Item Clause on--and then that means using a Poison type when you may not want to.

It does have a secondary use similar to one you suggested; if a Pokémon that is not poison-type holds it - or doesn't have magic guard or whatever - then it takes extra damage each turn.

Something so minor most people probably didn't even know it, I really hate the fact that they implemented infrared into the gamecards rather than just using DS wireless for these very few features. I get the point in doing so with HGSS for the pokewalker because the DS probably couldn't connect to them, but it really don't see the point in doing so for the key transfer system in BW2. I get why they would limit some features to people who bought the game, but it's not necessary for the actual storyline, trading or battling online so why would they use it for key transfer? I will probably never get to play pokemon black 2 in challenge mode *sad face*

At least the animation that plays for it is shorter than the Leftovers one.

So you can Trick it to somebody with Leftovers and watch the fun. Actually not a bad idea, but like so much else in the game, it seems too gimmicky to actually rely on.

Eh, it's not a bad idea to have over leftovers. Can discourage people who choicetrick; or at least make them pay something rather than getting a good item.
Also you didn't have to post this both here and on unpopular opinions lol.

It's gimmicky, but honestly there are other items that can use some improvement over a Leftover expy that has a niche secondary use.

Also, Black Sludge is way easier to get than Leftovers, which typically makes me happy since I often use a Poison-type somewhere (and my monotype team is Poison, so that makes me happy).

One thing that I don't like in X and Y are the first two towns. Vaniville Town is cramped and Aquacorde Town is pointless. Thanks to the most pointless route in the history of gaming, they feel like one town randomly separated. Plus, without access to a Pokémon Center, if you don't have a Pokémon with Fly went you beat the Kalos Elite Four, you have to walk through those two towns and not-Viridian Forest (way to recycle the layout, Game Freak) plus another route just to change Pokémon! This is made even worse since the previous hometown, Aspertia City, was actually kinda of cool. It wasn't just a handful of houses, it was a city with a Gym and (most importantly) a Pokémon Center, allowing for us to quickly change Pokémon without difficulty. Thanks to this, Black 2 and White 2 were hands down the fastest at letting us rechallenge the Elite Four without needing a Pokémon with Fly in our parties during the actual run until ORAS took that place with the Eon Flute.

How dare you call Aquacorde useless?
It...it.. umm.. has a pretty name!

Who wants to hatch their flawless shinies in places with ugly names? :/

Can't think of any Pokemon I'd want to hatch there, pretty name or no. Rather try and match the theme or type of what I'm hatching, and Aquacorde... does nothing for me. Point is Vaniville and Aquacorde are pointless as separate towns. One's only purpose is to be your home town, the other where you get your starter. They would have been much better as one town.

Another thing about Fairies;
So, they retconned many Normal-types (think Clefable line and Granbull line) into pure Fairy-types. However, the Wigglytuff line got Normal / Fairy instead of Pure Fairy like the rest. And what's the deal with making Audino pure Normal instead of Normal / Fairy (like it's Mega evo) or pure Fairy (like Clefable) ? Speaking of Normal / Fairy, what is Azurill doing in that line? Shouldn't it be Water / Fairy like its evolutions?

Azurill has always been Normal-type since Gen 3. It's weird as hell, but... eh.

For the Jigglypuff family they probably didn't want to make it pure Fairy to help seperate it and the Clefairy family a bit since the two are often considered counterparts to one another (also sound-based attacks are usually Normal-type moves and Jigglypuff has a relation to singing/making loud noises).

For Audino I dunno (get it? Audino, I dunno... moving on). Basic healing also seems to be related to the Normal-type so that could be one reason and when it Mega Evolves maybe it decides to experiment healing with mystical powers? According to extra description about Mega Audino its body does give out a strange pulse that calms whoever is close to it

As for Azurill being part Normal instead of part Water, maybe its to show that it hasn't mastered its Water powers yet and maybe even underdevoloped. Its Pokedex descriptions mentions it only living by water and that it relies on its tail to bounce around, holds nutrients to help it grow, and act like a buoy. Maybe its tail is so buoyant that it can't fully dive underwater, it has to wait until it evolves so that it has the strength to pull the tail underwater with it.

I don't suppose I can say anything about Pokémon Shuffle?

I know it isn't a mainline game, but it is a part of Gen 6, and I do have a bone to pick with it.
