Resource ORAS OU Simple Questions, Simple Answers (Read the OP First!)

I would like to ask a question, but in the form of a thread. It's a moral question, and I want to see multiple responses. It is very relevant to OU. With this post, I ask if such a thread would be acceptable amongst the OU threads.

People's been hyping a little about stallbreaker Mega Pidgeot, you know, the Work Up | Refresh | Roost | Hurricane set. What are the best EVs for that spread? Would a simple max max in offenses + Speed suffice?

Yes max/max works. You can put some EVs in bulk but you don't exactly want it taking many hard hits and most stall/balanced mons don't hit hard enough to outdamage Refresh anyways.

No, although you should usually not run the plate because of rare stuff with trick and fling.
(Because if he tricks away your plate and flings it, it has 90 BP, whereas the sharp beak and miracle seed have like 30 BP)

Aaaaah. Didn't think of that. Thanks for clearing that up!

Someone used (quite effectively, more through surprise than anything) an Assault Vest with PuP on me yesterday. It hit like a ton of bricks and easily took my M-Alakazam's Shadow Ball
252 SpA Mega Alakazam Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Victini: 146-174 (42.8 - 51%)
(I use Timid to get as many revenge kills as possible, and to add on the pressure to the opponent)

It may not be the best set ever, but it definitely shouldn't be ruled out.

ey fellow memers, whats the best slowking sets these days
Aim has also suggested using this set:
Slowking @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Thunder Wave
- Psyshock
It can still wall physical threats, and it avoids the 2HKO from MMeta's grass knot, unlike Slowbro, while still being able to take powerful physical hits like avoiding the 2HKO from MLopunny's frustration. Due to its already superb special defense and typing, Slowbro can pivot in and out while remaining a great keldeo counter as specs HP Bug only has a 2% chance to OHKO slowbro.

Does Gardevoir's Traced ability is in effect as it MegaEvolves? Example: Gardevoir against Swift Swim Kingdra in rain. As it MegaEvolves, does M-Gardevoir outspeeds Kingdra due to Tracing Swift Swim?

It should, yes. This is similar to Mega Sableye having Prankster on the turn it Mega evolves, so it should function like this.

In the case of Speed changing abilities, such as Swift Swim or Prankster, the turn order is determined before anything else, including Mega Evolution. Gardevoir would get the benefit of the ability on the turn it Mega Evolves. Other abilities are replaced once you Mega, though, so a Flash Fire Gardevoir would get hit by Heatran's Lava Plume if you were to Mega Evolve, since you would have Pixilate when the actual attack hit.

Two questions. One, what's the best non-Mega blanket check to Fairies in the tier? Two, do attack-lowering effects from things like King's Shield or Intimidate hit through sub?

Excluding Aegislash it is probably Scizor. Heatran is a nice fairy check but many fairies run ground coverage and even Clefable can set up on Heatran with T-Wave. Scizor's Banded Bullet Punch OHKO's almost every fairy type in OU with some prior damage bar defensive mega altaria, bold clefable and azumarill which are all easily 2hko'd. Jirachi is also great because it counters stuff like Mega Gardevoir, Sylveon, Mega Diancie [checks if spikes are up] and Clefable.

Substitute blocks things instigated by the opponent such as Intimidate, but not things instigated by the user such as stat drops from CC or the attack drop from attacking a king's shield.

To be precise, Gardevoir loses the ability the instance it Mega Evolves. The speed order, however, is determined at the turn's beginning before anyone moves. So Gardevoir's position in the "action chain" is locked in at the turn's start with the boosted speed, but if anything like Gyro Ball hits it after Mega Evolving, it no longer has Swift Swim or the SS speed since the ability was overwritten.

Does that make sense?
