(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

I think so, wouldn't they just make the plastic a different color? And I was really hoping that they would bring back the awesome cartridges for ORAS.
well...

I didn't like how linear Kalos was. It's just "go to this town, go to the next town, etc." over and over. The only backtracking required in the game is during the Team Flare part.
To be fair, pretty much every game past Johto was linear. I mean, like... DPP had that thing where you could challenge Wake before Maylene and in RS (not ORAS) you could totally skip Brawly until the league but that's it. BW at least has the excuse of needing to be linear for the story's benefit, but otherwise the Kanto and Johto games were the only ones you could truly say aren't linear. It's very annoying.

I'd say that RSE are not really linear there is a lot of back tracking and looping around.

I define linear as having to follow one direct path in the storyline with little room for exactly how you go about that. No matter how much backtracking you do in ORAS, it doesn't change the fact you're still following this exact path of events. Meanwhile in RBY/FRLG and GSC/HGSS, you could choose to some extent the order in which you got badges or items. Hell, FRLG had an entirely optional region with sidequests to do. In RSE/ORAS you as the player have little say in what to do aside from like which route you use to go back to Norman (and even then that's a little boring and ORAS just gives you a skiptravel option anyway)

Ok, I see what you're saying. I thought you meant something else.

Game Freak uses Pokemon Bank for transferring because of connectivity restrictions. The 3DS games aren't able to connect to DS games (Download play can't go 3DS to DS). It's not like Gen IV, where D/P could connect to the GBA games via the dual slot feature of the DS Phat/Lite.

Honestly, $5 for a yearly subscription to Bank isn't bad at all. Hell, I still have $5 of leftover credit on my eShop balance from Smash Bros DLC. Game Freak could've just left us high and dry in terms of transferring previous gen Pokemon and made us start from scratch, akin to the Ruby/Sapphire days.

3DS games can't connect to DS games, how odd. Well if that's the explanation I guess there's really nothing to complain about. Without the Pokemon Bank we wouldn't be able to transfer over our Pokemon and I suppose to justify it they needed to have it make money somehow.

But with that all said I still wished they could have made it so the Pokemon Transfer was able to store at least one box of Pokemon. Yes, Pokemon Bank is only 5 buck for a year, but what if I don't want to use the Pokemon Bank for storage? I just want to transfer over my Pokemon and in order to do so now I would need to pay 5 bucks. Like what if I decide to play through my older games and come across a Shiny? I gotta pay 5 bucks just to transfer that one Pokemon over? And I don't think they'll be losing any customers, I think right now only people who are using Pokemon Bank are using it for storing extra Pokemon, I think everyone who had Pokemon they wanted to transfer over had done so.

Finally, by connecting the transfer process to Pokemon Bank they are going to cause a lockout. Maybe not next gen but possibly next handheld console they'll disable the ability to send Gen V Pokemon to the Pokemon Bank. Have the transfer process just been limited to PokeTransfer that wouldn't be a problem.

I don't think anyone has said this, but I miss the unique colored cartridges that they stopped making in Gen 4 onwards. Especially the transparent cartridges of Gen 3. To me, they always looked like jewels.

Not an annoyance, but a little detail that I miss non-the-less.

That would be awesome! Diamond would be light blue, Pearl would be light pink, HGSS would be just like the original GS cartridges with the glitter, Platinum would be reddish brown with glitter, Black would be transparent black, White would be transparent white, B2W2 would be the same except have glitter, X would be blue with glitter, Y would be transparent red, and ORAS would be like their original cartridges.

People who complain about a $5 fee which is stupidly inexpensive. Especially when it covers you for a year.

Serious guys, stop. This isn't like World of Warcraft or any other number of game subscriptions which charge you $10 a month at the least.
This is my point. It's cheaper for a whole year than most games charge a month.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the eShop have an "add needed value" function with a credit card if you don't have sufficient funds for something, rather than the generic $10/$20 credits? It's what I use whenever I buy something from the eShop.

Tbh, I don't really see Bank as being profitable to Game Freak. A $5 yearly income per customer isn't a lot, and it's fairly safe to say that the amount of active Bank subscriptions is small compared to the amount of individuals who purchased at least one of the 3DS games. The income is enough for them to maintain the Bank servers and keep a little cash on the side, but it's certainly not a major money-maker.

I still use transfer to move some new Gen III-exclusive RNGs every here and there such as my hexaflawless Double-Edge Snorunt, but beyond transporter, the extra storage space is worth the $5 investment imo. It helps me keep my stock of Pokemon organized, and being able to move Pokemon between my Y and OR cart is handy, since my Y game is now my designated cloning/999x training-based items cart.

And to throw out one of my minor annoyances, while I appreciate the addition of Super Training, I wish Game Freak would've given us an easier way to check the EVs of Pokemon. Having to use a (rather rare) reset bag and reset the game per check gets a bit tedious when you have a bunch of old Pokemon with forgotten EV spreads.

Well, my parents won't let me use their credit card for things like that :/

Well, my 3DS is an American system, so I can't use my German credit card on it even if I wanted to, and the pre-paid codes available in Europe won't work either.
I guess the only way for me to access Pokebank would be ordering the codes online, or waiting until my next holiday in the States, but I'm not really inclined to do either :/

I really hate that Pokemon Bank doesn't have the same search function as the in-game PC does! Is there even a search function at all?? I've never been able to find one the whole time I've been using it, and it's been mega annoying trying to rearrange it into national dex order so I can see what I'm missing from my living dex (why I didn't put everything in order in there in the first place I'll never know ;-;). The Bank can hold 3,000 Pokemon and we have to manually search for things inside it ourselves? It would be amazing if you could select criteria to auto-sort boxes or groups of boxes to stuff like Alphabetical or Dex order. The UI of Bank in general is just really shitty imo... If I'm doing something wrong please tell me so I can ease this pain, lol.

I've also managed to mess up the placements of some of my boxes while playing with the Grouping function. Another annoying aspect is that you can't move a Pokemon between groups directly, you have to first take your Pokemon from one group and place it in the in-game PC, change groups and then move the Pokemon from the PC to the new group. Guess I'll have to complete the Dex ordering before creating my "Living Dex" group....

Wearing Pyjamas would have been awesome in XY. It could have been a gag costume; like being naked in Xenoblade or the Tuxedo in Metal Gear Solid.

Naked? Do you mean the Oils and the Bikini clothes. :P

Adding onto Hyper Cutter's comment I wish they would let you get clothes based on the trainer classes and maybe even famous NPCs like Gym Leaders, Elite Four, maybe even as a member of the villain team.

Here's something new: What happened to the Kanto Starters that your rival and Shauna got from Sycamore?
