Unpopular opinions

I think you misspelled DP prinplup... Oh God the humanity.
Nah, I agree with Quiladan. Compared to both its predecessor and its successor it's ugly and doesn't match at all. They took the "being a chestnut" thing far too literally and added Pinocchio's nose to it all.

I think they're all pretty nice except for Quilladin. That's the ugliest thing I've ever seen >_>

Marshtomp would like to have a word with you. A friend of mine taught Mudkip was cute and trained it until it evolved into Marshtomp. He got into a trauma and never touched the game for 30 days. Then, after the 30 days was over, he restarted his game and make sure not to pick Mudkip.

I don't know about you but Quiladin is so cute and adorable. It was one of the factors that influenced me to choose Chespin.

Does anybody hold more fondness for the middle-evolution starters than the pre and final forms? They don't seem to be quite as loved since they're so fleeting, transitory.

While I have my exceptions and don't really hate any of the starters (except Pignite, but Emboar saved him), I think Charmeleon, Ivysaur, Croconaw, Combusken, Grovyle, Prinplup, Dewott, Servine, and Braxien are the coolest of their evolutionary lines.
They tend to be a bit awkward looking, but I do love Braxien and Frogadier.

I think Frogadier is probably the best looking middle evolution of the Kalos starters, as Quiladin is... creepy... and I'm still not fond of how Braixen turned out.

Braixen looks so good though. Delphox is what killed the line for me though... like... uuugh... They could have done so much more with Delphox's design (besides giving it a reverse starter gender ratio so the witch can actually be a girl), just by "aging up" Braixen rather than messing up with a fur robe. Seriously, why would any creature naturally evolve a FUR ROBE when it uses FIRE attacks. Just... logically and visually it doesn't make sense to me. (Realizing it is based off the Oracle of Delphi amongst other things)

Maybe the fur is fire-proof thus having the robe covering most of its body is protecting it when it's wielding fire.

While I don't hate the design, I take issue with the overblown ear-hair. All of the Fennekin line suffers from it but Delphox has it worst.

Honestly the ears is probably where the fire should have been on the body, it's the only fully evolved Fire Starter not to light any part of its body on fire unless you count the stick it carries part of its body.

While I've gotten use to it and I think the ear fur looks cute with Fennekin, for Braizen it looks like a strange growth or horn growing out of it ears and Delphox the ear fur is bigger than its head!

Actually, if it was going to have a fire, what would have been REALLY cool is if that dress of it was made of fire. Delphox looked really weird because of it but it would look so badass if it had flame jetting out to form it. Now, especially the artwork, just looks way too human-but-not-human carrying a torch.

I love the design of all the Kalos final starters, but I have to say the things I don't like about them.

I hate Greninja's tongue scarf of all things. I've grown used to it, but the bubbles that were a key part of Froakie and Frogader get replaced by that thing. Even more bubbles would of filled the same purpose easily.

Delphox's ear fluff is really big, but that's about it. Still looks a lot better than Braixien.

Chesnaught just has a stupid expression on its face.

I'd have to say that Chesnaught is the best final, Frogadier the best middle, and a tie between Fennekin and Froakie for first.

Meanwhile, nobody bats an eye at Gardevoir who evolves a flesh-dress.
I always thought that was a kind of gross and unwieldy body-feature, especially for a creature that looks so lightweight.

The theme with Braixen and Delphox is that they strike their wand using their fur like the side of a matchbox. Which insinuates that the robe is so disgustingly coarse as to create enough friction to start a fire.

Honestly I consider Delphox design the better out of all the kalos starters, seriously look for sintoist priest robes, then look at German witches, then look at the masks that represent the crop goddess of Japan now tie in the Oracle thing going in its name with the bonfire dance of Japanese crop festivals, this thing is a mixmash of lore overdose and it works man, honestly if I had to rate the kalos starters designs it would be Delphox>Chesnaught>Greninja. Don't get me wrong the whole frog myth in Japan is cool but I'm not favoring it's slender design over a sintoist witch with a goddess mask that controls fire or a plant Knight with spines as its armor.

I swear to God people get mad at Delphox for 2 main(terrible) reasons and then a decent one, the first 2 are that 1 it's not waifu enough for their furry fanfiction and 2 it's not on its 4 legs. Or people just hate how overdone the fur on her ears is, it's supposed to look like a mask but I understand this one at least as it looks to inconvenient for an animal.

In the language of flowers, chestnut blossoms mean "righteousness", or "seek justice". It makes more thematic sense than people realize to base Chesnaught off of a knight, which was a title/vocation that historically involved upholding and fighting for righteous causes, as determined by the order-of-knights an individual hailed from.

That makes him 50% more awesome as it is not only a visual pun but a concept to run with.

Whelp, I guess I was wrong about the Chespin line. While Quilladin is still fucking stupid... Chesnaught is more awesome to me. Even though I never disliked Chesnaught's design.

Would of loved to see Quilladin look more like a paladin then... whatever it is.

It really looks like Mega Slowbro to me now in the art.

Quilladin is supposed to look like the husk of a horse chestnut.

And maybe an armadillo? Or a hedgehog? I just think he looks really cool from a design perspective when you consider the chestnut-inspiration. His extremities all stand on end to resemble thorns. Even his nose is a thorn.

While I never found it gross, it is a bit odd. And let's not forget about Pokemon like Machoke, Hitmonchan, Mr. Mime, and the Throh & Sawk. Machoke is them odd with the power belt which doesn't look like its made of natural materials.

I think Game Freak should take a step back from making new Pokemon, and instead try to balance the existing ones.

I daresay they do, all the time. Just look at tier lists and Pokémon usage over the generations. New stars rise and old ones fall every time a new game comes out, and this always includes old Pokémon as well as new ones. What is borderline broken in one metagame might be banished to the lowest of the low tiers a couple games down the line. Wobbuffet was considered Uber in Gen. III, Claydol used to be OU, and we all remember how much of a joke Mawile used to be until XY. Existing 'mons are given at least as much care as new ones every time Game Freak roll out a new set of games.

Also, what do you mean with "balance"? A game where all monsters are equally strong would make a very boring RPG, and competitive players account for a rather minor part of the customer base. I really wouldn't want Game Freak to pander to us at the cost of the rest of their customers.

More like weather happened, better spinners appeared and he won 0 offensive presence knock off was just a nail trying to find a place to be hammered in a 95% iron covered coffin.
But in Gen V he was still UU. That's why I'm saying there was something else that screwed it up in Gen VI (which I was blaming on the Knock Off buff/Steel Debuff).
