UU Simple Questions Thread

What does a 'standard' balance team consist of nowadays? Loved Zam + Hippo teams , but now they're both gone, what are some very standard balance mons? (Like in Ou: bulky zor, av torn, hippo etc)

I'm looking for a spin blocker for a grass / fire / water type core team that I'm making. Are there any unique and effective options asides from Chandy? I want something that isn't too generic and obvious. Thanksss

Jellicent is a really cool spinblocker to use that can also provide WoW support. It also fits in the Water-Type in your core. The only Grass-Type one I can think of that blocks Rapid Spin is Gourgeist (Edit: and Trevenant n_n) but it's really not viable at all in UU, so Jellicent would probably be your best bet n_n

I've been on hiatus since August. Has anything significantly changed in the metagame?
Most overused pokemon/sets are SD/SR Cobalion usually equipped with a shuca berry, Taunt Roost LO Hydreigon, max SpA. 3 attacks shuca berry Empoleon with SR or defog as the last move, CM Florges, almost every Suicune carries roar nowadays, Kroogodile is everywhere (usually dread plate). Again, i'd like to point out that i've used the word overused rather than overrated. All of these sets are indeed really good and common for a reason. It's just people forgot these pokemon can utilize different sets too. I think Scarfdreigon, Crocune, BandKrook are better right now just because they are less expected but that's just my opinion. I'd like to stay one step ahead of the trends. Aside from these Jellicent and Rotom-C are getting more recognition, eq is the most common coverage move on Aero, Azelf is the most prefered suicide lead for HO teams but LO NP set is also being used a lot, most Bee and Sceptile prefer adamant or modest respectively, Blastoise carries aura sphere lately. Finally; Slowking, Cresselia, Heracross, Mienshao, Crobat, Nidoqueen, Dragalge, Gligar, Heliolisk, Ampharos and Aggron have dropped in usage.

Is there a good set for quiet Ampharos? I've just bred one (with HP Ice) & I'm going to add a trained version to my trade thread.
I'd assume the best set for a quiet Ampharos would be a TR wallbreaker/sweeper set. Here's the set:
Ampharos @ Ampharosite
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast
Could probably fit Volt Switch somewhere in there, idk. xp

I have a question about Vaporeon; would a Choice Specs set with Hydro Pump/Scald, Ice Beam, Shadow Ball/something, and Baton Pass be viable at all? Most people wouldn't be expecting an offensive Vaporeon, after all.

Yes I think that would work out pretty well considering the power and lack of good specially offensive water types. I saw Sam using specs vaporeon the other day with HP electric which means you can switch into water types and do a fair amount of damage. Baton pass is probably useless since people arent expecting specs in the first place. Also make sure you have enough speed to catch some common walls but dont go timid. Hope this helps.

Thanks, and yeah I was just wondering about it since in the viability rankings no one mentioned its offensive presence at all. Most people seem to overlook it's 110 Sp. attack, hahaha.

for reference I used specs Vap on a bit of a joke team...it honestly wasn't horrible but I wouldn't really recommend it. BP was neat though, you don't really have any more coverage options and it offered some room for pivoting after they figured out it was specs

Why was that? Was it because Vap couldn't really break through bulky stuff like Suicune or Slowking?

You could try offensive Empoleon instead which has better typing and bulk, Grass Knot to 2HKO most waters, as well as the ability to run Defog on offensive variants to support its team, or Agility. You can run a Shuca Berry which lets you live a hit from a lot of its normal checks and check DD Mence in a pinch.

I'm trying to be innovative and running Agility Feraligatr and BD + Ganlon Gluttony Snorlax (not on the same team.) What might be some team options for either of them?

A bit silly to ask, but what are your thoughts about Goodra in a wonder room senario. I mean, if it's running an AV Set, if it a bit more bulkier?

Lastly, is it a good idea to run counter on Goodra in a AV set?

Not only UU based but; are there no new suspect tedts because of the Opens? Or is there just nothing to be suspected?

It appears that Showdown's servers are down. Or rather I can't connect. Is anyone else having this problem, and if so, will this impact the Hoopa Halloween tournament?
