Pokemon Shuffle General Discussion

Good news: No new main stages.

Bad news: A new safari turned up, featuring Noibat, as well as the Hoothoot, Pineco, and Houndour lines.

Also Noivern is a timed challenge. And Rotom Formes are back. And Landorus.

More to come.

Also a great last two weeks for me getting all five speedups available from Darkrai and the Competition.

EDIT:

New Pokémon Data:
  • Hoothoot: Base 30 Flying-type w/ Swap.
  • Noctowl: Base 60 Flying-type w/ Power of 5.
  • Pineco: Base 40 Bug-type w/ Counterattack.
  • Forretress: Base 60 Bug-type w/ Rock Break+.
  • Houndour: Base Fire-type w/ Mega Boost.
  • Houndoom: Base 70 Fire-type w/ Risk Taker.
  • Noibat: Base 30 Flying-type w/ Mega Boost.
  • Noivern: Base 70 Flying-type w/ Cloud Clear++.
Next Week:
  • Mega Absol competition repeat.
  • Uxie Great Challenge (Base 70 Psychic-type w/ Mind Zap).

So it's time for the rock types to shine in this safari. Also Houndoom is just Alakazam's clone in a fire type disguise, I kinda forgot it had a mega as well. ow tough is the Noivern stage btw?

I'm disappointed they gave Alazakam and Houndoom such a meh ability.

Noivern has a great one though. It's beatable without items but if you want the S rank you might need them.

Yay for me (sorry for the disappointed one !)

I got Charizardite ! Finally a Fire Mega stone for me ! I just hope a rerun of Garchompite + Garchomp safari !

Rerun of Landorus => I caught it :) Finally a good Ground pokemon
Rerun of Rotom Formes => Yay ! Caught Frost Rotom today !
Noivern is annoying with a lot of black clouds but ... I used a Mega Start Ampharos + DD (I got plenty of cash) and caught it with 72%. Without Ampharos destroying so many Black Clouds, it could be difficult I guess

I will start the safari soon, of course Gengar + Rock types ! I like Risk Taker, it add a lot of damage and most of the time, it's helpful ... It's better than Power of 4 or Power of 5 for example.

Another Mega rerun next week, yaaaaay :D + Uxie ! (With so many Psychic legendaries, the competition between all of them will be very hard)

Good luck finding Houndoum :D

I found it with my first heart and caught it in a Poké Ball. :|

Anyhow I got Noivern easily on my second attempt though I needed a Great Ball to catch it, Cloud Clear++ is actually decent for stages that are Black Cloud hell, especially in timed stages. Other than Houndoom, I only have Pineco captured and failed to catch Houndour a couple of times, but it is early days; we will get the rest in the future but at least it's good to get the rare one of the Safari Pokémon out of the way.

Risk taker is actually a nice ability, while it's not 100% reliable most of the time you do get a much higher damage output than you would get from a normal match.

Also remember to bring Amaura into the safari as most stages have it as a disruption or as part of the stage layout.

Caught Rotom Heat today ! And every Safari Pokemon EXCEPT THAT f**** Forrestress who runs away just after a failed Great Ball ... I only encounter him once and that's all ! But I've already met houndoum 3 times ! Damn % :D

Does somebody understand how/when Hoot Hoot spam some gold coins ?

It's easy to knock Hoot-hoot out with a combo but if it manages to disrupt it creates coins.

Managed to find most of ths safari on the first days only missing noctowl right now. Should be back to farming meowth after this since I'm dangerously close to my 10k limit.

Haven't been playing too much lately but managed to finally get noctowl on the first encounter and complete the safari. Now to get back my coins and hopefully get some extra S ranks before the next big update.

Just can't catch Roserade, it escaped at 93% with SCR.

This is extremely tiring. I have already done this three times with items. Mega Charizard-Y run ended with 2 moves left with DD + MS, which is kind of pathetic. Does anyone have any better ideas?

I haven't got that far yet but general consensus according to Google seems to be M-Hera, Budew, and your remaining two strongest SE pokes as a decent team.

So I started messing around on this about a week ago... Can someone give me some tips about how to level stuff/catch stuff which is being a pain? I think my highest level mon is Kanga at Level 7, and I think I've unlocked up to... Stage 85 or so atm? I think I am stuck at Dedenne for the time being (I only have Phanpy as a Ground type). I have 65/79 Pokemon available by the looks of it but I'm trying to catch Articuno and things too... No Idea if its possible though at this point!

I feel like there are too many Pokemon and I'm pretty overwhelmed with what I should/shouldn't be using. Pokemon with 60 power at base are good right? So evolved forms and single stage mons are what I should be after? I've got about 15k coins already and haven't ever bought a single upgrade (haven't needed too yet). Buneary seems like a decent stage to grind on because it's so easy and loads of turns, but is that right? IAR said something like more turns for a match the more XP you get?

Any other hints and tips would be appreciated.

Leveling after level 5 is not really needed since the damage output given the time consuming is low ... You should only farm at start level Meowth if needed for some gold (Bonus items > Experience)

Your best Pokemon will come later or in Special or EX stages ... In the 150th first, except Mega-Gengar / Scizor / Heracross / Aurorus and some Mega, nothing is really useful later

To try and address various questions. (Note: I'm mostly familiar with the 3DS version. Mobile has some differences in things like coin farming and a different event schedule.)

- Ampharos (Stage 130) is usually the best stage to grind on besides Saturday Victini. Ampharos has 50 moves, only surpassed by Snorlax, but it also has relatively tame HP and disruptions compared to Snorlax's massive HP. It's also easy to grind NVE Pokemon as long as you have a Ground type to balance it out.

Buneary is your best bet until you reach there. Generally, a Pokemon awards as much EXP to every Pokemon (not split, apiece) as it allows moves to clear it, so Buneary awards 30, while Ampharos awards 50.

- Base 60 is the minimum to use a Pokemon over something else, though that tends to also be when the mon has a particular ability. If you watch events and such, Base 70 mons and one or two Base 80's will come to you soon. This is of course after noting to use SE mons first and foremost, though a few later stages will be made easier by bringing certain mons, such as Milotic wanting you to bring Feebas.

- Coins can be farmed from Stage 37 (Meowth). Here is a small tutorial video
on how to do it. Farming this stage if you hit a wall or much later when you've cleared everything is a good way to build up coins for upcoming events.

- Are you familiar with the Great Ball trick? Where shutting the game off after using a Great Ball but before going back to the main map gives you back the coins for the Ball (not items though)? It's a nice way to hold onto coins until a successful capture.

Word of warning, you're approaching what many consider the first "roadblock" stage with Mega Mawile, since it has somewhat troublesome disruptions and forces Eevee on you as an extra Support. Main limiting factor would probably be the lack of good Megas since Mawile is Steel type in this game.

Landorus is available right now as an event, with Base 80 Power and Ground typing he's probably be very helpful to you. You get one chance a day and I think this is the last day for him. I would recommend using some items to try and get him.

One thing that will be a big factor in advice, are you playing Mobile or 3DS?

As a mobile player, I'll go through this, making corrections for mobile where need be.

Most of this is still true, but beware that Buneary, Ampharos, and Snorlax (unlike other stages in Mobile) give 5 LESS Exp than their moves would indicate, so it's 25/45/50. Victini comes irregularly, not every Saturday.

All still true.

Meowth is still the best way to get coins, but iirc it tends to release fewer coins on Mobile than 3DS.

- Are you familiar with the Great Ball trick? Where shutting the game off after using a Great Ball but before going back to the main map gives you back the coins for the Ball (not items though)? It's a nice way to hold onto coins until a successful capture.

This no longer exists. Don't try. You'll lose the coins, the heart, and the Exp if you do this.

Word of warning, you're approaching what many consider the first "roadblock" stage with Mega Mawile, since it has somewhat troublesome disruptions and forces Eevee on you as an extra Support. Main limiting factor would probably be the lack of good Megas since Mawile is Steel type in this game.

Very true still.

And also here.

New Uxie challenge stage. Base 70 Psychic with Mind Zap. Starts with 6 Uxie icons on the stage and a row of blocks down the center. Every 2 turns, it disrupts with either 5-6 Uxie icons, or Zigzagging Blocks along the top of the stage.

7% base + 6% per move. I'd recommend Disruption Delay and Attack Power+. Gengar and an optimize team handles it easily with those, got me 61% on the Pokeball.
