Pokémon GO

the same reason practically everyone around here has vaporeons magmars, snorlax and lapras, even a venomoth.
where are people getting these? Venonat is rare, Eevees never spawn often enough, never seen a Lapras, or a dragonite, I only have 3 dratinis, yet people have sometimes 2 vaporeons, lapras' and snorlax.
although these change between poor IVed hypnos and the odd Slowbro.

Eevee is probably the 5th most common mon in my place ( behind Pidgey, Rattata, Zubat and Weedle. Caterpie rarely spawns here ).
I've never seen dratini though.
I just got enough candy to evolve my strongest Dratini all the way up to a Dragonite. I'm so afraid for Steel Wing though. I'm too scared to evolve the thing...

Actually, Steel Wing is better... defensively. I went around the city yesterday, caught one and evolved it into Dragonite and it got Steel Wing/Dragon Claw. I'll just give it enough CP until 2000 and leave it in a gym and forget it. That thing is near perfect yet I can't play with slow attacks, too used to Water Gun tier speed and dodging....

Point is that I'm going for offense, not for defense. Your Pokemon will be in a gym for max. 10 minutes anyway. I just put one in, redeem, and that's it. Most of the times I put a random Pidgey in, just because I only care about those coins I'm going to redeem.

the main issue I see is the game mechanics themselves, Vaporeon and Slowbro are some of the best things in the game, because it is based on game stats, but adds more weight to HP/ATTACK of the originals, hence Snorlax, Dragonites, Vaporeons Slowbros everywhere.
seeing people with Jolteons losing to Vaporeon is sad :(
bagged a 15/14/9 Eevee today though 84.4%, one to keep back, when I find a decent load of eevees.
the problem I have is that the city I am at, spawns water stuff, so its mainly Goldeens, Magikarp (not as many as i would like today) and Staryus, with the odd Slowpoke and Psyduck thrown in, among the mass of pidgey drowzee and rattata.
I saw a level 7 gym today as well, shame I wasn't near it, and it was full :( would have lasted a good day or so.
I have an offence Pokemon, (Solarbeam Parasect) then slap in a Hypno in.

I think egg hatches are quite key, first they give good cp poke and with the amount of candy u get only 4 eggs of the same poke will get u ur evoloution (i know thats high odds but hey we're used to that, we've been playing pokemon long enough!) And its one part of the game that can be fudged a bit, if ur willing to spend the money on incubators (along with lucky eggs the only thing worth spending coins on) u can hatch a few in an evenings work. ...iv not done any of the tricks myself but have been guilty of driving at 18mph on pokego jaunts!
Where im from venonats are not too hard to find, esp in the evening, but iv also found a stretch of river that always gives out an abundance of a lot of water poke and it may be that they found a little part of the world that is generous with giving out pokemon. Sitting in double/triple lures also another help to getting harder to find poke, sure u get a lot of the usual but they do help, i live close to a town were a double lure is always set up by the local bar so i guess the luck of were u live comes into play a bit (id trade all my rare poke for some cubones!! There are none near me :'( )

I go near triple lured pokestops, its the same rubbish. the odd random thing turns up, such as a Slowbro, but mainly rare stuff just pops up randomly when not on the nearby list, as a Porygon :D and Starmie did today, well I say the same rubbish, it was less Magikarps :(
my 10KM eggs so far.
Omanyte
Onix
Onix
I bagged a few Venonats today, more then I usually find but not enough for 50 candy yet.
Onix is a complete waste of time, it has less CP then a Geodude.

I think uv upset Arceus at some point in your life, he clearly hates you!
Lures wont give out 10k egg type poke but u should be getting slowpokes, ryhorns and voltorbs or the equal to your area

I'm getting Slowpokes, Staryu and Drowzee... Drowzee is almost as common as bloody pidgey

only 10KM egg thing I see is Jynx... and that thing is crap, with the odd, Dratini and eevee thrown in.
2KM eggs have given me Charmander and Geodude, as well as the usual crap
the main things I see
Poliwag
Magikarp
Staryu
Slowpoke
Goldeen
Krabby
Spearow
Rattata
Drowzee
Pidgey
Not anywhere near the sea either

the first non-starter I caught was a Beedrill though 10 minutes or so after installing

I would love to never see a Drowzee ever again.
I have a fully powered up Hypno at level 20.. and still have 559 Drowzee candy :/

Catch 11 of those drowzee's start up a lucky egg and spend the next 30 mins evolving them all, along with all ur pidgey and rattata candy etc then once ur lucky egg runs out and ur levels boosted transfer out all those hypno's etc
At the end of the day some of the game play is not too dissimilar to the main games in that all that common stuff is good for is level grinding and stardust, eggs are important because they're ur best chance of getting what you really want unless u know of an area that can do that. Dont waste too much stardust on ur hypno (unless he's a personal fave) because when that lapras egg does hatch u want to be able to max him out immiedietly. Gyms are only good for coins if u dont want to spend money and if u gonna do that then u need to go all out by placing pokemon in as many gyms as u can and unless theres a few of u in the same team jumping into a gym of ur same team will be better then taking over a new gym and defending it with a single pokemon, no matter how high its level is its coming down against a team of 6!

Even if u found a wild dragonite, itd still probably be only half as good as one from an egg, i got a wild pinsir yesterday, not as good as my egg hatched one and secondary move was the same

Hoo boy! I've been playing this game for like, 3 weeks now! I don't touch XY/ORAS much anymore, more of an old gens ingame player, with BW/B2W2. So! I think searching for the Pokemon you want on Facebook is a great place to start ("x Pokemon Go"). I'm starting to get better at identifying where Machop is. Previously, I hardly noticed him on the radar at all when he spawned, but just last night, I -did- find him on the radar, and did find his spawn point within say, 5-10 minutes.

Also, an important tips for Gyms: Always have 1-3 deliberately low CP mon, like CP 100 or something, for easy training of the Gym's Prestige.

In order to increase the level and prestige of your team's gym, do you need to beat them or what? This was one of the things I was having a bunch of issues with.

You get more EXP and Gym Prestige the more Pokemon you manage to take down, so intentionally putting an easy to beat mon makes it easy to level the Gym since there's always one mon you can beat, which in turn makes it easier to grind more spots on the Gym.

yea but that can work against you if another team comes along. plus it annoys the living hell out of same team players who can't put anything in, for the 10 coins, who dont have the time to put points on.
seems the Magikarps have moved to a different location, from the nice farm area to an annoying one.
wild pokemon can be as good as egg ones, I have 80%+ IV wild catches.
I think the game now begins when you reach level 20, everything, item wise, unlocked, EXP grind is large enough to grind up a load of stardust to level up a decent full team rather then 1 or 2.

I really wish Niantic would look at what players want, the new system for finding pokemon is all well and good, but Pokevision is still a better tool, because I can see what spawns everywhere, so If i go somewhere I can see what is there.
also Pokeadvisor and other sites like it, which were very popular, is something Niantic could easily recreate on their own site.
if you don't know what it is, there were 2-3+ sites doing this, you basically log in, the sites access the server and you can view your information, your pokemon, IV's, other peoples profiles, stats etc, MMO's have these sort of things usually, it is something Niantic could easily incorporate, then they have full control over it, and given the players that use this sort of things are players who care the most, or pay money.
if they plan trading etc, viewing profiles and pokemon beforehand would also be a good for fair trading.

So
Theory time!

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now, but the whole team thing is pretty new in Pokemon. That is to say, we being the player selecting which team to be in (aside from maybe mystery dungeon but I digress), but TEAMS aren’t new to Pokemon though usually we the player are fighting teams….

Which teams? Well - Team Rocket for starters, Aqua, Magma, Galactic, Plasma, and Flare

What have we done starting at LV 5? SELECT WHICH TEAM WE WANT TO BE IN

my crazed speculated point?
INSTINCT MYSTIC AND VALOR are organizations and W E are the grunts

(But I could totally be wrong of course, but it would be a cool turn of events )

Thoughts? Discuss! : D

So that means I should use a lower CP Pokemon as the Pokemon I am using to train with when it asks to use one of your Pokemon?

No, you as a trainer gain more experience, your pokemon will not gain any more cp from battling, you should use your strongest (or super effective) pokenon to take on gym training
