Pokémon GO

On a sadder not, a man was shot and killed while he was playing Pokemon Go. It's not known why he was shot, the shooter didn't take anything before running off, it just seemed like a random act of violence. It's unknown whether Pokemon Go had anything to do with the murder. I'm beginning to question whether our world was ready for Pokemon Go, such a game only seemed worthy for a much better world than ours.
He could of been doing anything on his phone when he got shot. I don't think the shooter looked at the screen, saw it was Pokemon Go that was open and then decided "time to die".

I have a bit of a theory on the switch from 5 second updates to 10 second updates:

Not only does it cut down on server load I'm assuming, but it also discourages people from playing while moving at speed (aka driving). Something tells me this was intentional, similar to the 'speed lock' feature in Ingress

Prepare for twister... I wasn't prepared for solar beam on my Parasect.
I find gym battles are buggy anyway, nothing like dodging a special move by hopping 2 jumps sideways and it still hits.
Still better than the special moves hitting even when it says dodged or worse, double damage.

The dodging system is flawed anyway. The only way the system recognises it as successful evasion is that the Pokémon jumped right before the damage occured, not when attack animation started. This causes stupidly strong Bubble attack unpredictable when it shouldn't be because it has long animation length. And some damages occur not in time with the animation; Fire Blast damages before the Dai sign explodes in its animation, making it unpredictable unless used to dodge it.

glad they fixed the nice and great rubbish.
Added a dialog to remind Trainers that they should not play while traveling above a certain speed. Trainers must confirm they are not driving in order to continue playing.
whats this? I play on the tram, this better not pop up while playing on there.

Added visuals of Team Leaders Candela, Blanche, and Spark.
and these do what exactly?

We’re currently testing a variation of the “Nearby Pokémon” feature with a subset of users. During this period you may see some variation in the nearby Pokémon UI.
wha?

when will they gives us what we want? IV checking
GPS has been a bit off today, added a good 500+m in the past 3 hours doing nothing.

oh and as for these brilliant IV Pokemon
my 13/15/15 Krabby evolved and got.... Vice Grip :(
and 13/13/13 Zubat was evolved... Poison Fang, it had Sludge Bomb as a Zubat as well :(
time to try the 14/15/10 that has Air cutter
oh look Poison Fang AGAIN

oh looking at this new system... its even worse...now it shows NOTHING because no one has seen anything.
honestly we got apps that do a better job using that system.
ok now it shows a Rattata and Drowzee in grass...

Visuals.... so fangirls can fawn over Spark-kun?... I'll see myself out....

And seeing how this game seem so casual, checking IV won't be very likely featured.
Honestly, I think I'd rather not have it, so it won't widen the casual-competitive gap. I myself use IV checkers, but... I'd rather most people not know about it.

I'll see this update myself anyway. I hope it won't get worse....

if it was Casual then it wouldn't be there in the first place, IV checking is needed Imo, given many players who do it, are the ones that are not the casual players but the serious ones who spend.

This isn't Pokemon Showdown/competitive cart play, bro. Go is very simplified compared to the main series games, and a good majority of players either haven't touched a Pokemon game at all, or haven't played since the 90s. Kinda doubt an IV checker is the first priority to Niantic, especially considering the slew of bugs that still need to be addressed.

If anything, someone online is bound to create an IV checker for Go (if it hasn't been done already) at some point. I doubt we'll see a checker in-game; having perfect IV worries on top of the randomized moves would likely drive away some of the more casual players (aka, a significant portion of the game's fanbase).

To add this, there are already checkers. People in The Silph Road made a good IV checker. Big Bro said rumours are that it's innacccurate, but working fine, it seems to me.

Also, in SunMoon there'll be Hyper Training, which pretty much removes the meaning of IV. Point is?

point is, I want to keep the best stuff and bin the rubbish.
I got a 0/0/0 Psyduck though, keeping that
I feel you on that. I told myself a lot of times not to care about those IVs, and just enjoy the game without trying that hard. But I'm simply too OCD to not care. It keeps bugging me, but I'm not going to do it. It's already a pain in the ass to get a regular Gyarados with Hydro Pump, let alone when you have to hunt for a perfect Karp as well...

seen the new tracker in action, it shows the location of the pokemon with a picture of the location, and it marks the map when you select it
seems decent.

Try telling that to my brother. He says they really should take down Pokemon Go because of this. I told him it's not Pokemon Go's fault, it's a very unfortunate event where a psychopath chose a batch of Pokemon Go players to go after. My brother countered saying that's his point, Pokemon Go is making it very easy for people to become targets, noting all the muggings and people getting hit by cars. Can't argue with him there, though it's still not the apps fault, its people being horrible or stupid. While Pokemon Go has made it somewhat easy for someone to mug an unsuspecting player and worse, honestly if they were capable of this though would find another way to do it if Pokemon Go wasn't around (especially if you're crazy enough to kill a random person). Criminals are the first to quickly adapt to new technology.

New update allows you to change your nickname, but only ONCE.

That's all players need since they'll probably mainly use it for their Eeveelution.

Literally doing anything on your phone could make you an easy target. Criminals typically look for people who are distracted by their phones so they'll be more caught off guard. That man could have been doing anything. Even before Pokemon Go came out, I've seen people using things like Facebook or Twitter or whatever on their phones while walking or driving, and I'm sure their are people who still do that. I, for one, had a habit of listening to music while walking, which can also leave me vulnerable as I relied purely on sight. I'm trying to break out of that habit.

Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that playing Pokemon Go can potentially be unsafe. But so can doing anything else on your phone while walking or driving. I would never, ever advocate for someone to use their phone while driving, but as for walking, all you can really do is be alert and remain aware of your surroundings, just like the gyarados says.

How do you know what IVs your pokemon has? Is there any way to determine the two moves the pokemon gets when you capture it and how do you know if they will change and what they will change to during evolution?

google, Pokemon go IV checkers.
no way to determine moves either.
there is a rule that seems proven, that egg hatched Pokemon usually are on the upper end of the IV scale.
and take Pokemon go down because someone was shot.. the solution is ban guns... honestly.

Another thing that needs fixing, why are people allowed to put stuff in Gyms the instant they have been defeated? clear them, and they put stuff back in instantly, needs to be a cooldown on this.

ANOTHER awesome Zubat evolved... and get Ominous wind... FFS

Is ominous wind good on Zubat? I find that I can beat gyms that have a higher CP level than me but only if I use up the majority of the 6 pokemon and often the moves don't matter so long as I can spam them...

Oh and with the IV checkers, when it says 'dust,' does it mean the amount of dust you get when you capture it?
