Pokémon GO

people researched the game. because Niantic told everyone naff all, all IV checkers are more or less the same some use the level arc, some use dust, should get the same results.

I've tried finding stats calculators (since the other stats are hidden) as well but I can't find any good ones. Which site is the best?

what you see is what you get unless you can find a site like PoGobag which extracts the information directly from the server (requires your login), A lot of people used PokemonAdvisor site but Niantic Blocked it, (annoying a lot of players) PoGobag is more or less the same.
for stats there is https://pokeassistant.com/main/ivcalculator this shows numbers for attack defence and stamina as well as IV's

So there is a new update for pokemon Go but instead of pokemon appearing immediately on the bottom right tab of the screen, we now have 'sightings.' I am going to assume they only show pokemon when they are nearby. Serebii said that if they are near a pokestop or something, you can click on them in the sightings tab and it will now zoom out towards it.

I just use silphroad for all those things.

Also, got a Bite + Hydro Pump Gyarados earlier this week. Decided to check the IVs, just for the heck of it:

I tried using this just now to work out my Vaporeon IVs for my two Of them. There was a problem though, because the estimated stardust and evee candy didn't come out as the same when I put it into the CP range that their CPs were in (one of them is 762 CP, one of them is 768 CP) and they both require 1000 stardust and 1 candy to level up. It told me that ' the numbers didn't add up for this mon.' Any ideas how to fix this?

I maybe too late as the game has been updated that the XP bonus omission and ridiculously faulty monster balls were fixed yesterday along with not perfect but soooooo much better tracker, but whenever I meet Pidgey at high CP, especially in Mt. Moon this mall full of Zubats and before the update, it feels like....

Thankfully now at least whenever scoring Great it surrenders much more easily (although it's still a bit difficult).

To be fair, literally 101 Magikarps are needed for a Gyarados, so one should first check the Magikarps before evolving one. I got 2 or 3 Gyaradoses with solid IV by checking them all and only keeping the decent ones in each catch.

Don't put the emphasis on should. Everyone plays this game differently. I'm all about perfect mons when it comes down to competitive play (I mean, look at my trade thread), but in Pokémon Go I just want to have fun, enjoy and mess around a bit. Not that trying to get perfect IVs isn't fun, but it's just not for me in this type of game. To each his own, of course. Trying to get the best movesets is as far as I'm going. And maybe, just maybe I'll retry for better IVs if the mon is easy to get again. But looking at my Gyarados, I was already happy enough it had Hydro Pump second try. The fact that it has very good IVs is just luxury to me. For now it's going to stay at gym battles anyway, in which those minor differences in CP barely mean anything.

EDIT: Just evolved a few mons to fill a portion of my dex. Got pretty shitty moves :(
Raichu: Thunder Shock/Brick Break
Nidoking: Fury Cutter/Sludge Wave
Vileplume: Acid/Petal Blizzard
Arcanine: Bite/Bulldoze (omfg)
Dodrio: Feint Attack/Air Cutter
Marowak: Rock Smash/Bone Club
Exeggutor: Zen Headbutt/Seed Bomb

... I was half sober when writing this. I didn't mean it is a must, but if one is more uhh... OCD with the perfection like I am (ugh), yeah... that. Sorry, didn't mean to enforce that. Although yeah, since IV system was found, I'm at OCD that many people will get the better.

Then again, I have many best bred Pokemon in my AS and I barely even battle.

Is there absolutely no way to manipulate what moves a Pokemon is going to get upon evolution? I just think it's pathetic that it's completely random. Just saved up a month of hardcore playing, only to get a Blastoise with Bite + Flash Cannon. I just can't believe it's totally random, and it really frustrates me.

Well, nope. I'm hoping they'll add features for this, but this is so unlikely. It seems the attraction of this game is just catching Pokemon and mindlessly tapping them to death battling at gyms. Not even slight hint of friendship. They're just tools and it's up to Random Number God to get the good ones and discard the others. It is like, they expect you to hoard them and choose the better and discard the others. I know competitive background like breeding in main game is somewhat like that, but at least Game Freak didn't outright encourage that, but more subtly, unlike this....

Unless Game Freak scolds Niantic on this... I'm pessimistic about this.

I want to find better Vaporeon with Hydro Pump. Not because it's OP, but I love it around since very little and I have one in AS and it's very cute in PokeAmie. Yet it's essentially 1/9 chance to get it from evolving an Eevee.

I really want trading and battling (outside of Gyms). Right now, player interaction is pretty minimal and Pokemon is supposed to encourage you to be friends with other people. But then, they left these two concept out.

I really wish they would sort things out regarding catching things, what is the point in me finding CP 550+ if the chance of capture, even with berry, is under 10%, what is the point in me even finding them? I dont have Ultra balls yet either, and the stuff just runs before I get anywhere near 9 balls.
oh and apparently the new nearby tracker is equivalent to 1 footstep

Come on people chill out. This game came out literally a month ago, it's brand spanking new and as such there are going to be things to work out. New features will be added I'm sure, Niantic just wants to get each phase stable before they move to the next one. Have some patience, enjoy what the game has to offer for the time being and stay positive.

Also there's like, 20 people on the dev team handling something this big. It's pretty insane and I'm sure all of them are stressed 24/7.

How do you know if the two random moves you got on your pokemon are good? How can you tell?
Check resources like thesilphroad or pokemongo.gamepress.gg and look at the damage in combination with the DPS. They also suggest the most optimal movests per mon.

Today I spotted a Charizard on the "Nearby" section on a walk with a friend. Sadly, we didn't find it.

On another topic, Pokémon Go cheat ads are really weird.

I really hope they roll out this new tracker feature worldwide soon, once again Charmander has popped up near my house, it does it every day at some time or another, would really like to know where it is as I got a fairly nice IVed Charmander i want to evolve.

I saw a Dragonite every two days near my university and I have yet to find it. Even wasted one of my precious incense in the process.
