Here's a better image; the last one didn't show the underside of the head very well:

matamata-face.jpg

The nose is used as a snorkel, and along with the cryptic coloration, allows mata-mata turtles to breath in shallow streams and marshes without breaking cover; they are ambush predators that like to feed on small fish, similar to snapping turtles. Softshell turtles, although belonging to a separate suborder (mata-mata are in suborder pleurodira and softshells are in suborder cryptodira) have the same "snorkel-snout" adaptation, and use it the same way:

I really like the top pic. He looks like he's smiling! So cute! Another thing Turtonator could learn...

You could make the argument that Turtonator IS smiling. That yellow jagged line underneath it's snout appears to be it's mouth, with the sides curved upwards.

Turtonator wears a permanent smile as it completely obliterates you and your pokemon, leaving only ashes in its wake.

I asked first to the Math for the attacking stat of Mimikyu. I run those two according to the battle mechanics and assuming IV and EV as 0.

Formula:
[((11 * BP × BOOSTa × [NATa × (BSTa + 0.5 IVa + 0.125 EVa + 5)]) ÷ (25 × BOOSTd [NATd × (BSTd + 0.5 IVd + 0.125 EVd + 5)]) × Mod1 + 2) × STAB × RESIST × R × CH × Mod2 ÷ 100]

This is:
(((11* 40 * 1 * ( 1 * (BSTa + 0.5*0 + 0.125 * 0 + 5))) / (25 * 1([1 * (40 + 0.5 * 0 + 0.125 * 0 + 5))) * 1 + 2) * 1 * 1 * 100 *1 * 1 / 100) = 40

Solved as:
(((440 * ((BSTa + 0 + 0 + 5))) / (25 *(((40 + 0 + 0 + 5))) * 1 + 2) * 100 / 100) = 40
(( (440 * BSTa + 5) / (25 * 45 * 1 + 2) * 100 / 100) = 40 or (( (440 * BSTa + 5) / (25 * 45 * 1 + 2) * 85 / 100) = 40
((440 * BSTa + 5) / (25 * 45 * 1)) + 2 = 40
(440 * (BSTa + 5)) / 1125 = 38
BSTa = 92

This puts him in the same category as Spiritomb. 3 immunities, a free substitute...I may be wrong with the math, but this thing is already on my top 10.

This may be a bit offtopic, but I figure its worth posting here anyways since it solves one of the mysteries of the group of trademarks that leaked Solgaleo, Lunala, Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio.

We now know what Gigareki is! Turns out... its the Japanese name for an early access PC game Gamefreak just released on Steam, named Giga Wrecker o_O http://store.steampowered.com/app/454410

Seems like an odd and interesting game to look out for, but it has nothing to do with Pokemon. I guess that means that lawyer registered trademarks for Gamefreak, not Nintendo.

That being said, Marshadow is pretty clearly a Pokemon trademark, especially since that Chinese leak that has gotten pretty much everything right has mentioned that Marshadow has a "unique typing".

I feel like Turtonator complements my username quite well. It has the same problem that Mega Sceptile has (its model is facing the wrong way, although Mega Sceptile pulls it off well,) but I still kind of like it, I guess.

Well, the site says that Turtonator's stomach is its weak point, so that explains it using the same pose.

Anyway, this turtle seem... uniwuely weird. Weirdly unique. Whichever is that for me. Maybe the Kappa part is cool, but I thought that was done a little vaguely before in Golduck (Ah, screw all the ducks I got in GO). Aesthetically it was a wtf moment, but it normalises pretty quickly and I'll probably forget it in next week like I did Gamenodesu/Barbaracle(?).
It's very similar to Rainy Turtloid from MMX6
I somehow realized this when I first looked at Turtonator. The Sugimori artwork and Turtonator model look incredibly similar to Rainy Turtloids' sprite from MMX6.

latest

And they're both turtle-based. How about that?

I'm waaaaaay to late because of GO, but since I played Rockman X6 again I can completely see Blastoise as this guy. (Poor guy, though....) I feel this new turtle is... sleeker than this big guy though and type-wise it didn't match. But there is a slight vibe of him....

Answered Question: So all you need to execute a Z-Move is just to know a move of that type. Alright everyone, you can now go crazy with Z-Move combinations.

Bloom Doom Heatran confirmed.

I just really really hope that he has somewhat decent speed because then he'd be the ultimate glue to HO teams...would be nice to estimate the base speed of the little critter but all it did was shadow sneak...

Stream:

New pokemon Crabrawler, gets Crabhammer, fighting type; seems to take easy KOs, Masuda loves crab apparently

"a very competitive pokemon"

"Can even split treetrunks"
~yeah but what pokemon can't nowadays

"very strong"
Came in on the ending of that and all i could think of was:
"Dear Strong Crab, how do you type with boxing gloves on your claws?"

And wait. Mono-fighting or Water/Fighting?

Mono fighting! And can take out Cresselia, Lando-T, Talonflame, and (regular) Kangaskhan... but without context that means little. I doubt it'll realistically get any of those kills since each of those Pokemon need different counters.

In before post deleted by mod for reason: DELETED

Does anyone have pics? Edit: that was fast :P
Mono Fighting? Uhh, what?

The tag on the Normal/Fighting is just a stupid detail in a bad way. It already has a tail so what is that?

I prefer Bruxish over this crab thing. The eyes are kinda weird. Can it punch accurately with eyes like that? hmmm...

But it's kinda interesting that it's said to be very strong.
So Game Freak just decide that some Pokemon are simply stronger than the others, out of their own preferences then?

EDIT : I find it really funny how that Sand castle Pokemon has a spinning shovel on top of its head. XD

My hunch is that Turtonator is going to fit into the archetype of the other turtle Pokemon in its trailer, slow with a good Def stat.
Admittedly there is not much to go off but I think it's a reasonable assumption given the trends, Blastoise being the only slight outlier.

Turtlish Pokemon: D/Spd/Spe
Blastose: 100/105/78
Torterra: 105/85/56
Shuckle: 230/230/5
Torkoal: 140/70/20
Carracosta: 133/65/32

If Turtonator's speed is closer to Torterra or the slow Dragons, Druddigon and Dragalge, than Torkoal or Carracosta I'll breathe a sigh of relief
(esp. if it gets Smell Smash; 3 of the 5 Pokemon listed do: the non-starters Torkoal, Carracosta and Shuckle).
