Gen VII: Pokemon Sun and Moon Discussion MKII

Bianca did show some growth, heck her interest in the professor work is a bit foreshadowed. He got a mini arc with the gym quest and she decided to do things her own pace.
Heck Bianca is one of my favorite character due to those little things, the sequel only made her better, and boy given her rank in the PWT she might as well be called the most successful rival in the franchise along blue, let's not forget she was a bit stronger than Cheren in BW despite her gimmick of using return on everything.
Hugh can get old fast, but he is still the most history involved rival so far, and he did it without being a jerk, just by being helpful as fuck.
And I'm all in for Colress appearing, his battle theme is the best earworm in history.

The only "complaint" I have about Hugh is that he is not really a rival - all he does towards you is basically 'recruit' you in his quest for revenge, and testing you from time to time. There was no competition whatsoever, no trying to get one step ahead of you. He still pulls his role really well, though.
Barry and (For the first half of BW1, as then she drops the whole "trainer race" thing and becomes a helpful friend 24/7) Bianca were the best rivals per se, not just a walking "Smell ya later!" or someone whose best parts happen off-screen (Silver and Wally). Also Colress, given his "twist" later on.

Friendly rival, but yes he is a friend that test your strength and enters a tournament with you, he ain't aiming for the league. No shared quest to fight for is a downer, that's why I say Barry can dethrone him due to YMMV in this.

Why has this descended into chat about the rivals? Especially gen 5 ones... It's not even relevant to anything until we get more plot details.
I'm trying to leave this thread open in time for the Corocoro leaks which should basically be any day now, but you guys are making a very compelling reason to lock the thread. Try to stick to released content about SM, rather than back tracking. For all we know Hau could be the greatest trainer of all time and kick your ass everytime by some crazy game mechanic idk...
(Also Hugh has no backstory other than WAH MY PURRLOIN, how you guys make that the best rival I have no idea).
So a few things I noticed from the latest trailer after watching it a few more times is how good the camera angles seem to be at depicting places. I know a lot of these likely won't be able to be viewed ingame, and they are special shots purely for advertising, but they give a real sense of scale. I especially like the "down the street" view we get of the second islands "mini Island" to the south, with the lighthouse in the background. It also bigs up the far west island into something bigger, showing boats at the dock/pier there.
I might go through and pick out all the places we see and compare them to the map actually, just to see how much we have already seen. I have a feeling that centre island is a bit of a "tardis" building. Not unusual in Pokemon, but in this instance it appears to be massively larger on the inside than the outside!

Even if we saw a lot of the towns already, I believe there is plenty of the third and fourth island yet to be seen. And some part of the first one that remains a mystery. At this point, I feel we have seen the most content of the second island and the two Japanese towns of the third.
Somehow I get the feeling that we're missing something that it's under our noses.

This descended here because Hau is seen on the ultra beast scene and someone pointed that no other rival did this kind of stuff, we listed the 4-5 rivals that where actually involved.
We know Hau is used for the UB subplot, we just lack the execution, sometimes going back can help us in finding guidelines to discuss how the narrative could work.
If that is seen as a bad thing in this thread I will stop, I can see the wishlist side of this argument coming though.

But seriously, I hope I'm not wishlisting here, it would be cool if they explored the concept of underground Magma cones, they exist in the real world and can serve as a great way of expanding on the content you can put in between islands without relying too much on man made formations.

But it's still not confirmed that Aether Foundation would be villainous.
Eh, yes and no. Yes from a standpoint that it doesn't hold anything to speculate about. No in that it probably fits in with the rest of the trailer and is the speaker looking forward to us playing the game :P
I'm new here, so I don't know if it should be here or no, but, what if the UBs are this game's equivalent to the four elemental spirits(?) of alchemy. If I recall correctly, the four spirits are Sylph (Wind), Undine (Water), Gnome (Earth) and Salamander (Fire).
If my theory's right, since UB-01 is a jellyfish and moves similarly to a little girl, there's a chance that it represents Undine.

Type: Null: Sincerely, I don't know what to think about it. From what I can see, it has a Gyarados's tail, either Zygarde-10 or an Eeveelution's back legs, Skarmory's claws, Arceus's ring-like thing, what I think is Abomasnow's fur and what looks like a mix between Absol's blade(?) and a Silver Wing. Maybe we will discover what composes this chimera in the game?
Alolan Raticate: After somebody here mentioned that it looks like Kiko I stopped taking seriously it's design.

Also...why do people want me to play MGQ so badly with the undine salamander gnome and sylph remark...it's talking all my patience to not spoil myself in paradox!
But yes the alchemy stuff and humunculus stuff seem to be hinted heavily, I don't want to wishlist but ever since litten showed the sulfur symbol the ties became strong.

Let's just say that everytime I look at Raticate, I hear Villagran's voice. Doesn't help that I'm getting Pokémon Moon so I have to fight Totem Raticate.Why are you saying that?
EDIT: Wait, what? *googles what Norne mentions* That's a good find! Too bad I discovered this thread late. I'm sure I would have enjoyed reading all those theories that people make.

But his face is really resembling the one the character named "Kiko" from the Mexican comedy "El chavo del ocho" did on some jokes when the camera did a close up.
It's really hard to ignore such iconic figure in the popular imaginary.
Well gumshoos and Raticate are supposed to make a dual pun on detective and criminal, but if they put a beanie on top of Raticate and sent him to do a Mexican comedy skit he would really fit in gloriously.
Technically speaking, Kyogre and Groudon ARE part of the ecosystem. Moreover, they are Rayquaza's responsibility. A good leader knows when to delegate.
I think Zygarde 100% is really 100%, not a misnomer. If 50% of its cells are in Kalos, and the other 50 are in Alola, considering that Alola events happen a while after XY, because of Sycamore assistants, Zygarde could have felt the threat in Alola and moved there, because he needed his full body
Very plausible theory and one I like. Then there's the fact that Aether is considered to be the fifth element, which fits in pretty nicely.
Also, if Ultra Beasts are boss fights, then we can Battle Against a True Hero without murdering a bunch of things (including one super cool Royal Guardsman.)
I have to say that I've been positively surprised by everything Sun and Moon has offered so far. I also like Drake Wolf's idea of UB-01 being an Undine, taking other potential Ultra Beasts into account. However, we have no idea what the other Ultra Beasts are, other than being something else besides the Pocket Monsters of the world, which we already know and love.
Yeah, I was just poking fun at the people who doubted me before :p
