Gen VII: Pokemon Sun and Moon Discussion MKII

Yes, but we also haven't had anything like bank before.

Bank can also do things like stop you transferring dragon ascent rayquaza back to XY. I wonder why it wouldn't just do something similar when transferring back to gen 6, and stop you transferring anything new to gen 7?
I don't understand why they didn't make an XY software update so those games could handle and accept things like that. It's not like they reconfigured the code in ORAS, so they could have slipped the coding in.

I hope clefairy gets Instruct just for shenanigans sake

In the trailer, Lycanroc Midday-Form's Accelerock went before Cloyster's Ice Shard. This could mean:
1. If both moves have the same priority, Lycanroc-Midday should have more than 70 Base Speed. Judging by its description on the site, I'm hoping for 100 at the very least.

2. Accelerock's description states "It slams into an opponent with quick moves. This move is guaranteed to strike first!" Perhaps Accelerock will have +2 priority like Extreme Speed, or just +1 like all the others.

3. Or both of the above might end up being true, who knows!

Kinda underwhelmed by the Midnight form's lack of exclusive new move or worthwhile abilities, but I plan to get both versions so I'll still give him a go. Looking forward to using Oranguru & Passimian though; along with Magearna, it's nice to see new Doubles-focussed abilities.

Also to note:

Since we see both regular & Alolan Vulpix here (Solgaleo's sprite lookin' clean btw), I reckon this just reinforces that Pokemon transferred via Bank cannot evolve into their Alolan counterpart, and vice versa.

Hoo-boy, lot of stuff. Both versions get access to some amazing stuff, but I think Midday forme may make Sun a bit better for us VGC players, since you can always trade for the Orangutan. Also, is it me, or is this update for the VGC players?

Lycanroc - Meh name, but I'm sure a lot of people already had names picked out so who cares? (Personally: Horo for Midday, Moon Moon for Midnight) and right off the bat we can kinda see that Midday has gotten a ton of breaks: Priority Rock Move and Sand Rush means it'll fit into Sand Teams pretty nicely unless the stats are garbage. Midnight Lycanroc gets an appropriate ability (Vital Spirit, can't fall asleep) so that's amusing at least. I wonder if it'll hit harder. We will have to see, but Midday Lycanroc is looking pretty good.

Passimin - So it is true... Interesante. Handegg Monkey probably won't take the Singles meta by storm (unless the stats and movepool are both pretty good) but the ability would make for interesting company on some Doubles teams. Although worst case scenario is on niche teams like PerishTrap where it can hope to copy Shadow Tag. But taking an ally's ability when it faints is pretty dang useful, so I don't see the worst case happening: you can reset weather, get a second intimidate, get Parental Bond, or several other useful abilities like type immunities, speed boost, ect. It also has potential.

Oranguru: DOES INSTRUCT WORK ON Z-MOVES??? So, Instruct is a pretty amazing move and the typing is interesting. Definitely designed to get people using Spread moves more, and it would probably work... Although teams that rely mostly on spread moves may still be kind of Gimmicky, especially if Oranguru has low speed. Smeargle with Instruct would be interesting, but I wonder where it would fit the move. Pretty sure someone would find a way... But i kinda think Oranguru would have much better stats than Picasso Doge.

New Z-moves: Proof that you don't have to use a Z-move that is exclusive to a Pokemon... Although I reckon Catastropika may be arguably better than Gigavolt Havoc. And status move Z-moves confirmed.
I recall someone joked about a 100% freeze move.
...that might not be a joke now.
If i wasn't at work on my phone, as the person who brought that up as a kinda serious idea, i would insert a gif or video of Dr. Evil's laugh right here. :P watch it be an exclusive Z-move though. Maybe lower distribution would help balance it?

Anyways, Extreme Evoboost (why not Extreme Eeveeboost?) has the best Z-move animation thus far. And +2 to all stats spells "I am Instantly Banned in LC." Which means competitively it probably won't see much use since at the end of the day you have to nab the +2 to everything without Focus Sash. Sure you can try to use Rage Powder in doubles, but Spread Moves may take it out regardless.

That said, if your opponent lets you Successfully Instruct an Eevee to Extreme Evoboost twice... They should just forfeit out of shame. (Although with Trick Room... It could actually work.)

Others: Customization has its own currency? Wonder how well that'll work. Females having more clothing options than males doesn't surprise me. It didn't for XY, so i expected that. Not surprised at Pokebank disallowing tradebacks. Gen 1 to Gen 2 didn't, Gen 3 to Gen 4 didn't either, so it doesn't seem strange. Makes me wonder a bit how Pokebank will handle having Pokemon in multiple generations though. Maybe that is why they had to delay it?

The bank video showed ho-oh and lugia along with starters and legendaries from other gens, which heavily implies they won't be catchable in SM, disconfirming mega/primal ho-oh/lugia in the clouds speculation.

Eevee's Z move kinda rules out new evos in future gens, which would be weird given that a new gen would have an even number... Maybe they're really going for some kind of reboot, but for now, it's whatever.

Hold on a second. Screw Eevee. Mega Kangaskan + Instruct = 4 moves of hell

Kangaskan Mega-Evolved!

Mega Kangaskan used bulldoze! Foes Speed dropped

Repeat! Foes Speed dropped.

Oranguru used instruct on Mega Kangaskan!

>.<; This Oranguru fellow is looking even cooler by the second.

Passmian would be awesome if it gets some good fighting moves + coverage and its partner has something like huge power.pure power. Great boost after its friend falls in battle.

my guess is for gen 7 not allowing transfer backs even though it should be easier than ever with the way bank works than before with the likes of gen 3 to 4 and the methods for transfers up to gen 5 is that they want people to move on to the new gen and disabling tradebacks is probably the best way to do that.

they are also killing some of the gen 6 services too and in there place will be the gen 7 ones.

more proof that they want you to move on.

Well, no way I'm going to be able to respond to all this at once, so I won't try but...

RAISING EVERY STAT SHARPLY EEVEE. RIP LC. RIP PU. RIP EVERYTHING.

Imagine using Simple Beam on Eevee in a Double Battle as it's using Extreme Evoboost. +4 on everything.

The opposing pokemon used Roar!

Definitely OP by LC standards, though. I just think its funny how easily you can get rid of it given it's an one time only thing. Unaware alone puts a full stop to it.

Then you Baton Pass to Espeon. Unless we are getting a Dark-type Unaware user, good luck with that :P

iirc, spread moves are not affected by Parental Bond (Once I tried Icy Wind Kangaskhan, but only hitted once)

What if Receiver works not just in doubles but in singles as well? You knock out Mega-Medicham and now you have Pure Power.
If it works in singles as well then this ability really is interesting
