Unpopular opinions

Actual opinion:
I like the Poke Pelago feature, but the way Rainbow Beans can easily maximise affection in no time while being handed at least 2 per day and how Pokemon Refresh lack things PokeParlor / Amie had in XY ORAS cheapens the value of affection too much for me. I miss playing "Head It" already and the effort that makes attachment to the 'mon I play with instead of just shoving two beans.

You can get enough to max out 5 Pokemon with a Level 1 Abeens easily. It's completely broken.
On a related note: Pokemon are everywhere on Isle Abeens. How am I supposed to pick up the Poke Beans when I accidentally tap on the Pokemon all the time? That's another thing that works against Rainbow Beans.

You don't have to tap. Just keep the stylus pressed to the screen, and swipe. That way, you'll pick up beans, but hit neither Pokémon nor other stuff.

How do you guys even scroll to the right to access Rainbow Beans in Refresh though? No matter what I try I can never do it. Am I missing something?

As for the topic, I don't know how unpopular this really is, but I hate how you can cure status in Refresh without using up a healing item. In my opinion they should have asked you to pick a healing item from your inventory for it to work.

It's a horrible pain. I just kind of...kept swiping until it worked.

This could take several minutes sometimes.

I don't get why they don't have arrows on the side in case you don't want to swipe. I guess being able to scroll it by swiping is neat but come on, NO ONE testing the game found scrolling difficult? Heck, maybe this is why colored beans are aesthetic and don't have a function of which Pokemon they're fed to, if you accidentally throw a bean away it's not big deal as you get them by the boatloads.

Also why have so many different colors if they don't mean anything?

According to what I read, each day when drinking something once in Pokecenter's cafe, we are given plain beans of colours depending on the day. So maybe just a flavour to match 7 days we get beans every each day. Like how Pokepuffs are also aesthetic apart of the tiers, so I'm OK with that.

How it is very annoying to scroll the beans though....

The lack of arrow buttons is indeed confusing. I think Pokemon Refresh in general was a step down from Pokemon Amie. There's little point in interacting with your Pokemon when you can just feed them 3 Rainbow Beans and be done with it. It doesn't feel like you're actually getting close to your Pokemon. The difficulty of accessing the beans you want the most (Rainbow) is ridiculous. The removal of mini-games was the biggest offender though. The puzzle and berry one in XY was alright but I really enjoyed Head It. They could of easily of had these games build affection (higher score = more affection) if they don't want them to award beans. It even got relegated to a menu option rather than the bottom screen scroll like it was before.

tl;dr Pokemon Refresh is inferior to Pokemon Amie

Dude, you only need 2 rainbow and pet them twice for max affection.

And really, getting enough Rainbow Beans to max affection for a whole team takes only a couple of days of getting beans from the level 3 beanstalk in PokePelego

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I absolutely hate the text that appears in your screen when executing a Z-Move. Not only is it bad idea-wise, but it also looks super ugly. The font makes it just cheesy, corny, goofy, funny, you name it. Why couldn't they just make it without that text, just like any other move :(

Yeah, it's absolutely brutal. It's like the moves are meant to be parody.

Not just that, but the names themselves are really long and really cringey, especially the exclusive Z-Moves

"Sinister Arrow Raid"
"Soul Stealing Seven Star Strike"
"Malicious Moonsault"
"Stoked Sparksurfer"

I don't know why they made most of the Z-Move names cringey/mediocre. It takes me out of the game when I'm forced to read these absolutely horrible names. The only name like this that works is Pulverising Pancake, every other exclusive Z-Move has a cringey name.

That doesn't excuse regular Z-Moves, with the only decent name being Tectonic Rage. Why Game Freak, why?

EDIT:
The Z-Move names are fitting the ridiculous poses that have to be performed to pull the move off.

A serious name... wait, maybe that could have been even better. Kind of how Nanu explains the Darkinium Z pose without changing his expression.

The poses don't need to exist, at least not as ridiculous as they are now.

I think the cringeworthy names are basically a logical extension of the whole concept, which is all about being over-the-top and embarrassing -- again, as if Game Freak designed it to make fun of its own games. I don't find the mechanic to be quite as ridiculous and laughable as Mega Evolution (partly because Z-Moves are better-integrated into the story/region, dulling their immersion-killing qualities), but there's similar logic behind both mechanics. They want to make changes to make the games feel new and different, etc., and they did so in actually decent ways in SM, but they've also introduced stupid jump-the-shark gimmicks to attempt to further that process (in their minds, at least) for two generations in a row. Who knows what kind of fucking intolerable abomination they'll come up with next.

Well I'm on the other end of the spectrum, I love how over the top the Z-Moves are, names included.

Z-Moves: Already the idea of Pokemon getting "super attacks" is kind of ridiculous. In a game where we have tier of moves which range in Power and secondary effect, we already have many moves which are high powered and/or have useful secondary effects to benefit the player/hinder the opponent. If you want strategic battling, normal moves are what you want. Z-Moves on the other hand, is a nuclear missile with a hand giving a middle finger on it. There's really no strategy with a Z-Move (aside from what type you want and when to use it), it's just an over-the-top powerful move. And it's also not like it comes without a cost, one Z-Move per battle and it takes up that Pokemon's item slot? That's a rather hefty cost, and Z-Moves are still affected by speed, protection move & Abilities, and the type chart. So if you're using a Z-Move, you're partially doing so because you want to be over-the-top and make a spectacle of the thing, otherwise there are plenty of strategies that don't involve Z-Moves (or Mega Evolutions for that matter).

Names: When the names of the Z-Moves pop-up I always imagine the same thing: your character is yelling out the attack like they're a Dragon Ball character. The names aren't meant to be descriptive of the move, they're names so after the excitement of rush of adrenaline the user is probably feeling. And since you can only use this move once-per-battle, why not have the name be over-the-top and leave a lasting impression.

Dance/Poses: ... Okay, I do have my problem with the dances. Now, for Sun & Moon, I feel the dances/poses are alright as they do fit the theme of the games: people and Pokemon having a close bond with one another. Your actions are meant to mimic what the Pokemon is sorta doing, like your both doing the attack. And once again you have the excitement of rush of adrenaline factor. However in future games I hope they let you do something else to activate the Z-Moves.

And before you criticize Pokemon for doing this, take a look through other games with super attacks. One that immidietely comes to mind is Final Fantasy which has two super attacks: Limit Breaks and Summons. They're just not super attacks, both are usually over-the-top spectacles ranging from Rule of Cool to Refuge in Audacity. Yet no one seems to have a problem with it there, infact players are probably disappointment when it's not as over-the-top as they thought it was going to be.

I LOVE the Z-Move poses, aside from Fairy. But I'm a melodramatic guy, and I often enjoy using the opportunity to use anything overdramatic in the heat of battle. I'm actually known to make a spectacle of a real good, adrenaline pumping battle... including, sometimes, the acting out of the poses irl though not quite in time with the Z-Move itself. Heheh...

Plus, like that guy said, it's like a Dragon Ball move. Scream the name in the heat of the moment, and it feels BADASS.

But I'm a hormonal, overdramatic, hypomanic guy. I LIKE things like this (at least since it was decently implemented in-lore.)
