Hey Shedinja doesn't die from rocks anymore

shedinja.gif

Switchinja @ Leftovers
Slot 5 (45/30/30/40/1/90)
Ability: Wonder Guard
Timid Nature
EVs: 252 HP/4 SpD/252 Spe
- Substitute
- Baton Pass
- Toxic
- Shadow Sneak/Will-O-Wisp

Tell me if i'm wrong, but Shedinja's HP are hardcoded to 1.

Talking about things that looks dangerous...
Prepare for trouble. And make it double, obviously.

Slot 5 - 95 / 120 / 115 / 80 / 85 / 50
Togekiss @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Mirror Move
- Aerial Ace
- Drain Punch

Z-Mirror Move raises your Attack stat by 2 stages before using the Z-move corresponding to the last move the opponent used.
That being said, you can abuse your boosted Espeed as much as you want.
Aerial Ace is still 100% accurate, just in case.

While checking the Little Cup metagame, I suddenly got the inspiration for a LC-related metagame. Considering its nature, I think this could be considered a Pet Mod, but here it is regardless.

Anyway, all adorable Pokémon of the Little Cup metagame have always wondered what it was like to be adult. As such, they decided to play a game where they pretended to be like their older siblings and their parents. They became so immersed in their little game that they actually acquired the skills and attributes of their parents, learning how to use advanced techniques and how to use special items that they normally wouldn't be able to use. From that fateful day, they became…

Obligatory cute fanart by itsbirdyart on dA! :3

Metagame Premise: This LC-based metagame could be considered a sort of fusion between Move Pass and Little Cup Mega Evolutions with a little touch of OU, but with a few extra details.

• LC Pokémon gain access to the typings, Abilities and movesets of their final evolutions (ex., Charmander becomes Fire / Flying and can use Charizard's moves, like Earthquake and Roost).
• LC Pokémon gain access to the Mega Stones and in-battle form changes of their final evolutions; Mega Evolved Pokémon gain a 50 BST increase, and all stat changes of the transformations are cut in half.
• LC Pokémon gain access to the Z-Crystals and items exclusive to their evolutionary lines (ex., Munchlax can use Pulverizing Pancake while holding a Snorlium Z, while Pichu can wield the Light Ball).
• LC Pokémon with Alolan variants can use the types of their Alolan evolutions by simply adding the suffix "-Alola" at the end of their name. Basically, Pichu-Alola becomes Electric / Psychic, Cubone-Alola becomes Fire / Ghost and Exeggcute-Alola becomes Grass / Dragon. Same principle applies to Rockruff and its two evolutions (Rockruff-Midday with Accelerock and Rockruff-Midnight with No Guard).
• LC Pokémon with multiple evolutions gain the types and / or movesets of the chosen evolution by using the name of said evolution as a nickname (ex., an Eevee named Jolteon becomes Electric and gains Jolteon's Abilities and movepool).
• LC Pokémon aren't compatible with event-exclusive species unable to breed or evolve. As such, Battle Bond Froakie, Light of Ruin Flabébé or Pikashunium Z Icicle Crash Pichu aren't allowed.

Potential Bans and Threats:

• Standard LC banlist.
• Abra-Mega - Incredibly high Special Attack with incredibly high Speed, coupled with colorful movepool? Yes, Alakazite may push the already powerful Abra a bit too far.
• Charmander-Mega-Y - A much better version of Vulpix, who is banned in LC for turning Chlorophyll users into deadly sweepers. As such, the Charizardite Y has the potential to be shattered by the banhammer as well.
• Gastly-Mega - Asking for PerishTrap? If not, then you aren't asking for the Gengarite either.

Questions for the Community: How should Pokémon with multiple evolutions, like Eevee, be handled? Here are the current proposals:

1. Have the Pokémon inherit the moves, Ability and typing of the chosen evolution by simply typing its name (ex., a Burmy named Mothim would become Bug / Flying and gain Mothim's Abilities and movepool). This could eventually apply for Cubone, Exeggcute and Pichu and their Alolan variants, in case we wanted to keep things more consistent. This is the current method.
2. Have the Pokémon inherit all moves and all Abilities from all their final evolutions, while keeping their original typings (ex., Eevee stays Normal, but can use any Ability and move from any of its evolutions).
3. Have the Pokémon inherit typing, Abilities and movepool from the first final evolution found in the Pokédex (ex., Eevee becomes Water and gains Vaporeon's Abilities and movepool, while Pichu doesn't gain a new typing and inherits from the original Raichu).
4. None of the suggested. Find another way.

ATBMons (Average Type Boost)

Metagame premise
: Pokemon will get boosted by their types highest average stat (e.g. the average fire type has 69/82/70/91/72/74 so fire types would get a +1 boost in Sp. Atk when they enter a battle) For Pokemon with dual types, they will ONLY get a boost in their primary types unless shiny, where shiny Pokémon will ONLY get the boosts of their secondary typing.

Bug : +1 Atk / -1 Sp. Atk
Dark : +1 Atk / -1 Sp. Def
Dragon : +1 Atk / -1 Speed
Electric : +1 Sp. Atk / -1 Def
Fairy : +1 Sp. Def / -1 Speed
Fire : +1 Sp. Atk / -1 Def
Fighting : +1 Atk / -1 Sp. Atk
Flying : +1 Speed / -1 Def
Ghost : +1 Def / -1 Speed
Grass : +1 Atk / -1 Speed
Ground : +1 Atk / -1 Speed
Ice : + 1 Atk / -1 Speed
Normal : +1 Atk / -1 Sp. Atk
Poison : + 1 Atk / -1 Def
Psychic : + 1 Sp. Atk / -1 Atk
Rock : + 1 Def / -1 Sp. Atk
Steel : + 1 Def / -1 Speed
Water : +1 Def / -1 Speed

Potential bans and threats:

Banlist:

Beedrill-Mega (+1 Atk on switch-in, plus Fell Stinger)

Questions for the community: Should I lower the lowest average stat?

ALSO

SigShareMons

Metagame premise: Certain abilities that are currently signature abilities now can be used by all Pokemon whose BST<500. The abilities are heavily nerfed.

wip

Bad Dreams = If the opponent is asleep, it's Defense and Sp. Def will be lowered by 1 stage.
Flare Boost = If the user is burned by an opponent, the user's STAB moves are boosted by 50%.
Flower Gift = During Sun, the Pokemon two weakest stats are boosted by 1 stage.
Forecast = If the Pokemon uses a weather starting move, it's secondary typing will be replaced by the type of the weather. (e.g. if Sableye used Rain Dance, it would be Dark/Water type).
Imposter = The Pokemon gains one of the moves of the opponent (will always choose the last move).
Parental Bond = The Pokemon must hold a Kangaskhanite, the holder hits twice, but at 50% damage each time. The user may not use any moves with fixed damage, like Seismic Toss.

Toxic Boost = The user must NOT be a poison type or a Pokemon with a serpentine body. If the user is poisoned by an opponent, the user's STAB moves are boosted by 50%.
Wonder Guard = The user can't be hit by not-very-effective attacks.

Questions for the community: Should I lower the lowest average stat?
Tapu Fini coming in with +1/+1 Def/SpD is pretty hard to break.

Mamoswine gets a healthy Swords Dance boost for just coming in, allowing it to wreak havoc.

Dragon Dance? Never heard of it when you got Salamence and Dragonite getting a free DD boost on switch-in.

Zard Y is looking good, with a free special DD.

Oh god Lando-T with a free DD... now it doesn't have to run SD/RP, freeing it up to go EQ/Z-Stone Edge or Fly/Knock Off/filler (U-turn? Superpower?)

Oh no, Thundurus gets a free special DD

If Doublade wasn't already enough of a physical tank now it gets +2 Def on switch-in. Jesus.

Edit:
+1 252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. +2 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 102-122 (31.6 - 37.8%) -- 91.9% chance to 3HKO

AND THAT'S WITH NO INVESTMENT AT ALL. With investment it can live shit like this:

252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Mega Charizard X V-create vs. +2 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Doublade: 228-270 (70.8 - 83.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

For Pokemon with dual types, they will ONLY get a boost in their primary types unless shiny, where shiny Pokémon will get the boosts of their secondary typing.

I guess I should lower the worst average stat.

Tbh I like the misunderstanding of it more.

EasyMon (Name uncertain)
  • Metagame premise: Pokémon can only use their STAB moves and status moves that match their type. All abilities are either Adaptability or Simple, but every Pokémon gets a choice between the two. All items are banned except the classics- Choice Items, Sitrus Berry, and Focus Sash.
  • Potential bans and threats. Perhaps Regigas and Slaking should be banned, but they're now limited to normal type moves.
  • Questions for the community. How should normal type moves behave? I'm a fan of them only being available to normal type Pokémon, but some moves like Shell Smash are critical to a Pokémon's set.
  • How should Mega Stones be treated? Should they be allowed? What abilities do they have?
  • Any more items or abilities that should be allowed?

This seems incredibly arbitrary and limiting and I'm not a fan. I wish I had more constructive feedback but I'm not sure what would make me like this.

Z-Converter

Metagame Premise: A Pokémon can change it's primary or secondary typing based upon using a Z-move.
  • Z-Crystals change your Pokémon's primary typing if normal, or secondary typing if shiny. So for Kartana, if Sacred Sword is in slot 2, after using All-Out Pummeling Kartana becomes Grass/Fighting. The meta would allow for unlimited Z-Crystals as well.
Potential bans and threats: OU Clauses apply.

Questions for the community: Should a Pokémon receive STAB for the Z-move if it is not their original typing (the Kartana example; like how Protean works)?

Seems interesting but horribly broken if your Pokémon can keep using Z moves. What happens with Pokémon that use their own typing. Like Aggron using Steelium Z. Do Pokémon keep their typing when they switch out or is it like trick or treat, conversion, etc.

They keep the typing. Z Crystals are single usage, but there is no limit on how many can be used on the team.

Definitely not pandering to the immortal's woes over the lack of good Zmove metas hehe

Z-Link

Premise

Using a z-crystal uses the selected move and a linked move. Using Z-crystals does NOT activate their normal Z-effect.

There is no limit to the number of z crystal uses per team, but each Pokemon may activate its crystal only once.

Rules
First some terminology:
Selected Move: the move chosen by the user after enabling the Crystal. It will be performed first.
Linked Move: the move "linked" to the selected move, it will be performed after the selected move has completed.

How is the Z crystal chosen?
Putting ANY of the normal or unique z crystals into a Pokemons item slot will give it the crystal.

Note 1: Alternatively, a special item (i.e. mail) could be used to indicate a Z-Link. This would allow regular z crystals to be used as normal.

How is the Selected Move chosen?
In the GUI, the users checks the box to use their Z-move. The user then selects a move from the moves the active Pokemon has. The chosen move is the selected move.

Note 2: aftee activating the crystal, all moves are available to choose as the selected move, not only those that match the Crystal's type.

How is the Linked Move determined?
After the selected move is indicated, the linked move will be the move in the next occupied move slot.

For example, say my Pokemon's moveset is:

Slot 1 -- tackle
Slot 2 -- splash
Slot 3 -- flail
Slot 4 -- bounce

If I select tackle, then splash will be linked. If I select splash, flail is linked. If I selected bounce, then tackle will be link (selected slot4 links to slot1)

So what happens after you activate the z Crystal and indicate a selected move?
  1. The active Pokemon will first perform the selected move.
  2. Immediately afterwards (and if it is still able -- no faint/switch/status preventing it) the active Pokemon will perform the linked move.
Note 3: something for consideration: if the linked move is a damaging move, then should its power be modified? Regular z moves never have a base power exceeding 200BP. Perhaps the linked move does 0.5x damage. Or maybe its power is determined according to the zmove damage table.

Why is this meta interesting?
  • Z moves, both damaging and status, provide cool one time effects. This meta lets you do that with ANY moves.
  • There's variety in the links. You aren't just bound to one pairing. Maybe in on battle you need heal bell+roost, but in another that same Pokemon needs to link roost and air slash.
  • You have to think about your moveset positioning. You can't just link swords dance to all your moves.
  • Things are strong, but not too strong. No choice items, so this won't have the ridiulous offensive spam of a similarly name OM from last gen.
  • It's easy to learn: click z move and get the link. Intuitive by name and no hidden mechanics changes that might confuse end users.
I'd love to hear others' thoughts, particularly around Notes 1&3

(Sorry for relative brevity and the certain wealth of typos. On a phone.)

Hey,

I've spent the last few months working and studying but schools almost over so I got a lot of free time and what better way to spend it than to play Pokemon! In my abstinence, I've come up with a couple new metagame ideas, and I'll talk about some of them today to see if the community is interested in them. So to make support easier to gauge I'll make different posts.

Multibility/Enchanted Items!
[Old thread]

Premise:
Enchanted Items was a metagame introduced halfway through Sun and Moon and the premise was simple, at least on paper. In Enchanted Items, Pokemon could utilise two abilities at the same time. This was done by re-writing the code for almost two hundred items in the game to act as abilities. Dragonite would run Air Balloon to gain Aerilate in conjunction with Multiscale to become a fearsome sweeper and Talonflame adored running Magic Guard to remove both recoil and stealth rock damage. However, the biggest problem with Enchanted Items was that you actually had to know which items correlated with the ability you wanted. However, Spandan found and coded the perfect solution. Now we've removed the item aspect completely. Instead of giving Dragonite Air Balloon you can now simply write Aerilate in the item slot. Bam, that's it. Perfect!

Banned additional abilities:
  • Arena Trap
  • Chloe
  • Comatose
  • Contrary
  • Fluffy
  • Fur Coat
  • Huge Power
  • Imposter
  • Innards Out
  • Parental Bond
  • Pure Power
  • Simple
  • Stakeout
  • Water Bubble
  • Wonder Guard
Other bans and rules:
Kyurem-Black is banned

Ability clause: Each team may have only two instances of an ability on the team total, item-based or otherwise. This is to prevent instances of ability spam using two native users and two item based users.

A lot has changed since last year and we've got some new threats to try out - here are some ideas for you to try out.

Pokemon that do not evolve do not share their movepools. trust me, having all the legendary pokemon sharing movepools is a bad thing. Also, a lot of starters evolve at level 36 so yeah.

A cool shared movepool is with Medicham (meditite at lv.37) and Carracosta (tirtouga at lv. 37). Shell smash medicham that can also learn knock off just sounds fun.

Potential bans and threats: Standard OU clauses. Might have to ban shell smash if it proves to be a problem.

Questions for the community
:
  • Since this metagame focuses on the levels of pokemon when they evolve, what about the pokemon that don't evolve via a set level ( trading, max friendship, stones)? Should they share their movepools or do they not count?
  • Should pokemon only share movepools if they are the same stage of evolution? Example: Mienfoo evolves into Mienshao ( A stage 1) at level 50. Shelgon evolves into Salamence ( A stage 2) at level 50. Should they share movepools despite being different stages? Or is stages just a TCG thing?
  • Should pokemon only share movepools if their most recent pre-evolutions evolve at the same level, or should they share movepools if any pokemon in their evolutionary lines evolve at the same level? Example: Pidgey and Totodile evolve at level 18. However, Croconaw evolves at level 30 and Pidgeotto evolves at level 36. So should Feraligator and Pidgeot share movepools because pidgey and totodile evolved at the same level or should they not because croconaw and pidgeotto evolved at different levels?

Yep. Every move a pokemon can learn is a part of its movepool. Whether they learn it via level up, tm/hm, or a move tutor doesn't matter. If they can learn it, they can share it.

It was great last gen and I see no reason it wouldn't be great this gen. Keep an eye on everything that got banned last time (except Togekiss lol) though. Disguise is hardcoded to Mimikyu, and also broken, so maybe that warrants a ban.

Speculation, none of which I expect to require much elaboration:
  • Any Regenerator user + Emergency Exit
  • Tapu Koko + Galvanize (or Pixilate)
  • Corrosion + Mold Breaker (in any form)
  • Volcarona + Dazzling
  • Miscellaneous Espeeders / Boombursters + Galvanize
  • Bulu / Buzzwole + Tinted Lens / Speed Boost / Triage
  • Any offensive mon + Merciless + Support (Sniper Barbaracle lol)
  • Necrozma + Stamina / Speed Boost / Magic Guard / Magic Bounce / Mold Breaker / Tinted Lens / Pixilate (Wring Out)
  • Mew + Snow Warning (Aurora Veil)
  • Xurkitree + Surge Surfer / Electric Surge
  • Medicham / Conkeldurr / Lucario / Tangrowth / Roserade + Triage

Ah, good days.
I wanna make a suggestion: Instead of any ability on the second slot and one of its own abilities on the first slot, why not have any abilities on both the slots? The metagame would be much more fun like that imo. Anyways, I really hope that this comes back.

Shedinja @ Safety Goggles / Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Camouflage (inherited from Mothim)
- Misty Terrain (inherited from Kirlia)
- Play Rough (inherited from Liepard)
- Dragon Dance (inherited from Gyarados)

This is absolutely unpredictable.
If the opponent doesn't have a super effective move, he's basically dead.
Status move ? Shedinja uses Misty Terrain.
Rock, Fire, Dark, Flying or Ghost move ? Shedinja uses Camouflage. (note Camouflage can be used to give Shedinja either Normal or Fairy type)
Weather damage ? Shedinja wears Safety Goggles.

And it can setup.

Metagame premise: Every ability would be reversed/opposite.
Potential bans and threats: Regigigas would be banned as it would have its attack and speed doubled for the first 5 turns.
Truant may be banned as it would allow a mon to add a move (hit twice) every other turn. No guard would be banned as every move would be missed if used by or against. Dazzling/Queenly Majesty as mons would only be damaged by priority moves.
Questions for the community: Should specific abilities be banned, specific mons or both?

I don't see why a metagame where every ability becomes one with bad effects would be fun to play tbh. Why would I want to reduce the chances of secondary effects happening? Why would I want my stab to do less damage? Or to lose 25% HP when damaged by electric/water? Or not be able to switch at all because I'd lose 33% HP doing so?
What you could do instead is that the abilities need the opposite of what they would need to activate. So Torrent to activate when over 33% HP, Swift Swim to double speed on any weather but rain, etc. Otherwise I don't really see any potential in nerfing every ability.
