Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Name of the Pokemon: Lanturn Role(s): Special Wall, Defensive Pivot, Cleric Type:
Abilities: Water Absorb, Volt Absorb | Abyssal Light Stat Distribution: 125/40/50/85/85/70 | 455 Movepool Additions: Recover Movepool Removals: Ice Beam Custom Elements: Abyssal Light: Lightning Rod clone for Dark-type which raises Special Defense. Justification:
+: reliable recovery, super special bulk ; pivoting, clerics, walls Cloyster, walls Raichu
-: bad physical bulk, can't wall both Raichu and Cloyster, can't touch Grass-type
Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb / Abyssal Light
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt-Switch
- Scald

- Heal Bell / Toxic
Name of the Pokemon: Toucannon Role(s): Physical Wall, Trick Room Abuser, Hazard Control Type: Flying Abilities: Poison Heal / Sheer Force Stat Distribution: 70 / 110 / 110 / 75 / 75 / 55 Movepool Additions: Whirlwind Movepool Removals: Boomburst, Bullet Seed, Rock Blast Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Toucannon has one move that can set it apart from other physical walls: Beak Blast. Not only is it a strong Flying STAB move, but it can also burn the opponent if they make contact. Whirlwind is useful utility to stop opponents who are trying to set up.
Name of the Pokemon: Mew Role(s): SR Setter, Stallbreaker (Taunt), Setup Sweeper, Hazard Control, Cleric, Suicide Lead, Aurora Veil Setter Type: Psychic - Fairy Abilities: Prankster Stat Distribution: 85 - 85 - 85 - 85 - 85 - 85 BST: 510 Movepool Additions: Healing Wish Movepool Removals:
Justification: Mew is an amazing support Pokemon, with a brilliant movepool and the addition of Prankster making it a very useful mon for anyone's team. Moves such as Will-o-Wisp, Taunt, Defog, Heal Bell and even Aurora Veil provide Mew with plenty of options and a sweeper set is also not out of question. However Mew is a jack of all trades yet a master of none, with well rounded but not spectacular stats meaning it can struggle when faced with a powerful STAB attack.
Submitted Pokemon must already have a Mega Evolution that exists in the base game. Additionally, Dark-types are still not allowed. Some quick info on this slate:
Base Form: The base form of each submission should be viable in the metagame and have a legitimate argument to be used over their mega form. Some examples of base pokemon that match or excel their mega forms would be Tyranitar (who packs much more power with a Choice Band and can also run Choice Scarf whereas the Mega has much better bulk and can run a Dragon Dance set better due to slightly higher speed) or Gyardos (base form has just as much speed and a better offensive typing+access to a Z-Nuke alongside Moxie whereas the mega has much better bulk and a great stall matchup due to Mold Breaker). Typically this can be achieved by the Mega and the Base having different roles, such as Wallbreaker compared to Stealth Rock Setter for the Tyranitars.
Mega Form: The Mega form of each submission should pack sufficient power and/or utility in order to justify their use over the base, whether that be through a great ability, fantastic stat placement, a new typing, or a combination of the 3. As in the main game, a mega evolution grants +100 BST and optional ability and/or type change. No new moves are granted to the mega that is not granted to the base.
This will be a difficult slate to balance, so I implore everyone to use the thread or discord to comment on each others subs to ensure that both the base and mega of all submissions can be viable and balanced. Good luck everybody!
Abilities: Unnerve / Water Veil | Moxie (HA) Stat Distribution: 60 / 100 / 70 / 85 / 40 / 95 (450 BST) Added Moves: Shift Gear, Smart Strike, Fire Fang, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Thunder Removed Moves: Destiny Bond, Poison Jab, Psychic Fangs, Zen Headbutt, Blizzard, Ice Beam Justification: Ascendant speed tier and solid power after a Shift Gear allows Sharpedo to either snowball with moxie (Steel-Z is quite solid in this meta) or yeet on Mew with Water Veil. However it crumples to Sash Raichu and is easily revenge killed by Ninjask. And that's not mentioning the difficulty in setting up in the first place with that garbage bulk.
Pokemon: Sharpedo-Mega Roles: Special Wallbreaker Type:
Ability: No Guard Stat Distribution: 60 / 110 / 70 / 145 / 60 / 105 (550 BST, +10 Atk, +60 SpA, +20 SpD, +10 Spe) Justification: Completely different from normal Sharpedo, Mega Sharpedo trades the ability to clean up opposing teams for devastatingly powerful, perfectly accurate Hydro Pumps, Fire Blasts, and Thunders. However, this shark-torpedo-head thing suffers from being hard-walled by Lanturn and struggling against targets such as Meganium and Flygon, as its Ice-type coverage is quite weak. Very powerful, but should be manageable for teams to handle.
Pokemon: Banette Roles: Stallbreaker, Special Wallbreaker Type:
Abilities: Cursed Body / Anger Point | Flare Boost (HA) Stat Distribution: 60 / 72 / 63 / 114 / 70 / 66 (445 BST) Movepool Additions: Psycho Cut, Hyper Voice Movepool Removals: None Justification: A pretty straight-forward "guts" wallbreaker that boasts very solid power when burned at the cost of poor bulk and a weak speed tier. Additionally, while Ghost/Normal has great neutral coverage it doesn't enjoy the prevalence of Dark-types and Knock Off present in the metagame.
Abilities: Pure Power Stat Distribution: 60 / 97 / 78 / 134 / 90 / 86 (545 BST, +25 Atk, +15 Def, +20 SpA, +20 SpD, +20 Spe) Justification: Before you yell at me about 97 base attack+Pure Power take a moment to appreciate the dual STABs of... Shadow Claw and Psycho Cut. Both are 70 BP and severely undermine the power of this guy, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't still pack a punch. With an adamant nature Bannete can 2HKO Mew even when burned and can chunk offensive opponents with Shadow Sneak. It can even lure Cloyster with Thunderbolt off of a still fantastic 134 base special attack! However, Dark-types are everywhere and Ghost/Psychic is a notoriously poor defensive typing.
Stallbreaker (Banette-Mega) @ Banettite

Lure Set (Banette-Mega) @ Banettite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 180 Atk / 120 SpA / 208 Spe
Naive Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Shadow Sneak
- Psycho Cut
- Thunderbolt
This set aims to lure physical wall Mew + Cloyster with Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt, respectively. Even with less investment Psycho Cut is still devastating against neutral targets and Shadow Sneak still bugs offense.
Abilities: Snow Warning | Soundproof (HA) Stat Distribution: 104 / 91 / 70 / 91 / 70 / 74 (500 BST) Movepool Additions: Recover, Ice Hammer Movepool Removals: None Justification: Pretty standard Abomasnow, spam Blizzard, Swords Dance boosts your Wood Hammers, Ice Hammers, and Ice Shards etc. Poor defensively but makes for a fine breaker.
Pokemon: Abomasnow-Mega Roles: Mixed Wall Type:
Abilities: Magic Bounce Stat Distribution: 104 / 111 / 130 / 91 / 110 / 54 (600 BST, +20 Attack, +60 Defense, +40 Defense, -20 Spe) Justification: If all megas were offensive, that would skew our meta towards offense. So here's a Stall mega that has great bulk and Magic Bounce at the cost of a poor defensive typing and not the greatest matchups against most setters (outside of Flygon and Cloyster). With support should be worth consideration.
Specially Defensive (Abomasnow-Mega) @ Abomasite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 40 Atk / 220 SpD

(Solar Power clone) Uses: WIP
Ability: Master of All* Base Stats: 85 / 125 / 80 / 125 / 80 / 115 (620 BST; +30 Atk +10 Def +30 SpA +10 SpD +20 Spe) Custom Elements: Master of All: If any weather is active, this Pokemon heals 1/16 of its max HP each turn; immunity to Sandstorm and Hail. (Ice Body clone) Uses: WIP
Name of the Pokemon: Gallade Role(s): Set-Up Sweeper, Choice Scarf user, Choice Band user, Priority User Type:
Abilities: Scrappy / Justified (HA) Stat Distribution: 70 / 90 / 70 / 60 / 80 / 90 | BST: 460 Movepool Additions: Recover, Mach Punch, Sacred Sword Movepool Removals: Close Combat, Vacuum Wave, Shadow Sneak, Stone Edge Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Can set up with Swords Dance or Bulk Up. Sacred Sword is its main STAB along with Zen Headbutt which hits Poison-types like Nihilego. Scrappy allows Gallade to hit Cofagrigus super effectively, but beware that if Cofagrigus runs Mummy, Scrappy will be replaced too. An offense-boosting item like Life Orb and Iron Fist together actually give Gallade greater immediate offenses than its Mega, as Mega Gallade loses Iron Fist and cannot hold a Life Orb. Trick is also something Mega Gallade cannot utilize, but the base form can potentially Trick a Choice item to a wall to cripple it.
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Gallade Sacred Sword vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cofagrigus: 281-330 (98.9 - 116.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Gallade Zen Headbutt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Nihilego: 244-291 (60.2 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery // Unaware max defense
0- Atk Cofagrigus Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 324-382 (115.3 - 135.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO // if Gallade is at +2
0 Atk Nihilego Venom Slam vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 124-147 (44.1 - 52.3%) -- 17.6% chance to 2HKO // Gallade can avoid Venom Slam if running Psycho Cut instead of Zen Headbutt while still securing a 2HKO
Name of the Pokemon: Gallade-Mega Role(s): Set-Up Sweeper, Physical Tank, Priority User Type:
Abilities: Intimidate Stat Distribution: 70 / 110 / 140 / 60 / 90 / 90 | BST: 560 (+20 Atk, +70 Def, +10 SpD) Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Mega Gallade gains Intimidate and a major Defense boost, turning it into a capable physical tank, something the base form couldn't do. It loses Scrappy so it can no longer hit Cofagrigus, though.
Name of the Pokemon: Gardevoir Role(s): Stallbreaker, Set-Up Sweeper, Hazard Control, Choice Scarf user, Choice Specs user Type:
Abilities: Synchronize / Magic Bounce (HA) Stat Distribution: 70 / 60 / 70 / 90 / 90 / 80 | BST: 460 Movepool Additions: Earth Power, Refresh Movepool Removals: Focus Blast Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Gardevoir is a stallbreaker who can use Taunt to prevent healing. It can also set up with Calm Mind if the extra power is needed to break through. If it must, it can use Grudge to attempt taking out the opposing Pokemon. Magic Bounce provides a form of hazard control and helps against stall, preventing it from being affected by status moves.
Name of the Pokemon: Gardevoir-Mega Role(s): Stallbreaker, Set-Up Sweeper, Special Wallbreaker Type:
Abilities: Trace Stat Distribution: 70 / 60 / 80 / 130 / 120 / 100 | BST: 560 (+10 Def, +40 SpA, +30 SpD, +20 Spe) Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Mega Gardevoir gains Trace which can be used to copy useful abilities from opponents, like Flygon's Mythical Presence or Poipole's Adaptability. This can allow it to provide mini-roles depending on what ability it copies, forcing the opponent to carefully consider what Pokemon they send out. Its increased special attack and speed also help with sweeping, though it loses Magic Bounce and can't bounce back hazards and status for its team anymore. Switching Psychic for Fairy typing also gives it a powerful offensive STAB combo, as well as removing its fear of the many Dark-types in this meta.
Name of the Pokemon: Altaria Role(s): Utility, Cleric, Bulky Pivot, Mixed Wall Type:
Abilities: Natural Cure / Regenerator (HA) Stat Distribution: 70 / 60 / 110 / 60 / 110 / 50 | BST: 460 Movepool Additions: Healing Wish, Wish, Trick Room, Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, Air Slash, Blaze Kick, U-turn Movepool Removals: Solar Beam, Moonblast, Dazzling Gleam, Play Rough Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Altaria provides plenty of utility for its team in Healing Wish, Heal Bell, and Wish support. Regenerator synergizes well with Wish and U-turn, allowing Altaria to serve as a bulky pivot. However, it is terribly slow and passive, though Haze can be used to stop set-up attackers.
Name of the Pokemon: Altaria-Mega Role(s): Revenge Killer, Set-Up Sweeper Type:
Abilities: Aerilate Stat Distribution: 70 / 110 / 80 / 110 / 80 / 110 | BST: 560 (+50 Atk, -30 Def, +50 SpA, -30 SpD, +60 Spe) Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Mega Altaria loses bulk but gains immense offensive and speed boosts, allowing it to function as a set-up sweeper with Dragon Dance or Calm Mind. Aerilate provides stronger Flying STABs in Hyper Voice or Return, and it has a powerful Dragon/Flying/Fire combo that hits practically anything it needs to hit.
252 Atk Aerilate Altaria-Mega Return vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Meganium: 264-312 (71.9 - 85%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Aerilate Altaria-Mega Return vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Tapu Bulu: 234-276 (62.7 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
252 Atk Altaria-Mega Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Metagross: 186-220 (61.7 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Altaria-Mega Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Swalot: 182-216 (32.9 - 39%) -- 7.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Meganium Dragon Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Altaria-Mega: 198-234 (70.4 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Swalot Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Altaria-Mega: 97-115 (34.5 - 40.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Name of the Pokemon: Camerupt Role(s): Defensive Pivot, Trick Room Setter Type:
Abilities: Solid Rock / Regenerator Stat Distribution: 60/70/100/80/100/40 (450 BST) Movepool Additions: Trick Room Justification: Camerupt is a solid defensive pivot, checking the likes of Special Raichu, Setup Kricketune, and Flygon. Lava Plume also has a good chance to burn, but Camerupt's lack of movepool hinders it to an extent.
Camerupt @ Assault Vest

Abilities: Drought Stat Distribution: 60/110/120/120/120/20 (+40 Atk, +20 Def, +40 SpA, +20 SpD, -20 Spe) Justification: Camerupt-Mega is a scary wallbreaker in Sun and Trick Room, having great coverage in Fire Blast, Earth Power, and Solar Beam. While its type greatly appreciates Drought, it needs to take a hit before setting up Trick Room, which lessens the number of turns it can stay alive since it has no reliable recovery.

It lacks good special coverage, however, and is therefore hard countered by Swalot and Nihilego.

Abilities: Cursed Body Stat Distribution: 80/85/120/120/130/65 (+10 Atk, +50 Def, +10 SpA, +50 SpD, -20 Spe) Justification: Absol-Mega has great bulk and support movepool with Knock Off, Will-o-Wisp, Wish, and Thunder Wave. Its typing gives it good immunities; however, its lack of a good ability sets it back.
Name of the Pokemon: Swampert Role(s): Stallbreaker, Set-up Sweeper Type:
Abilities: Torrent / Poison Heal Stat Distribution: 100/100/85/70/85/60 (500 BST) Movepool Additions: Bulk Up, Liquidation Movepool Removals: Ice Punch, Ice Beam, Avalanche Justification: Swampert is a powerful stallbreaker thanks to its ability in Poison Heal combined with Bulk Up, allowing it to shred through unprepared teams. However, it has a lack of good coverage, meaning that it is checked easily by Meganium and Tapu Bulu, and its power is underwhelming without any boosts.

Abilities: Sand Stream Stat Distribution: 100/120/110/90/110/70 (+20 Atk, +25 Def, +20 SpA, +25 SpD, +10 Spe) Justification: Mega Swampert is a solid wall, with its ability in Sand Stream chipping opponents and (possibly in the future) acting as a solid setter for Sand Rush and Sand Force sweepers. While it has very good bulk, it lacks reliable recovery, and is almost completely countered by Tapu Bulu and Meganium.

Just like all Grass types, it learns a lot of utility moves, such as Leech Seed, Synthesis and Grass Whistle. You just need to setup and sweep with your main STAB and EQ or a coverage move.

Movepool Additions: Mach Punch, Drain Punch, Thunderbolt, Thunder Movepool Removals: Bullet Punch Custom Elements: *Pure Soul (Special clone of Pure Power.) Justification: A good way to introduce unpredictability in the meta, something that our OU metagame currently doesn’t have. At 252+ it reaches the level of a full invested 169 base stat in both offenses, it has priority (until it Megas) and some very strong STABs, both physical and special. It also learns both CM and Bulk Up, that can help it to reach insane levels of offensive capabilities.

Name of the Pokemon: Sceptile Role(s): Physical Wallbreaker, Balanced Pivot Type: Electric / Grass Abilities: Overgrow / Regenerator Stat Distribution: 96 / 85 / 73 / 57 / 104 / 95 Movepool Additions: Volt Switch, Zing Zap, Dragon Rush, Horn Leech Movepool Removals: Focus Blast, Brick Break, Hidden Power, Drain Punch, Swords Dance Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Sceptile works as a physical Wallbreaker with useful utility options in Regenerator. Grass / Electric is a great typing with nice offensive and defensive capabilities. Nicely balanced Stats let Sceptile run bulky or offensive sets, and utilize a good physical movepool.
Pokemon: Sceptile-Mega Role(s): Physical Sweeper, Setup Sweeper, Offensive pivot Type: Electric / Dragon Abilities: Adaptability Stat Distribution: 96 / 120 / 73 / 92 / 114 / 115 (+35 Atk, +35 SpA, +10 SpD, +20 Spe) Justification: Sceptile is a fast physical wallbreaker that also has some mixed capabilities. Hone Claws is a nice utility move to boost Sceptile's attack and accuracy, and let's it run moves like Dragon Rush, Iron Tail, and even Dynamic Punch. Adaptability boosts Sceptile's STABs and encourages Pivot sets using Volt Switch.

Magic Guard is good all around too avoid hazard and status damage, and Berserk is good for Focus Sash Calm Mind sets to get some quick boosts. Steelworker gives Alakazam a secondary STAB and let's it use Spoon Sneak to great effect.
Pokemon: Alakazam-Mega Role(s): Special Wallbreaker, Setup Sweeper Type: Psychic / Steel Abilities: Levitate Stat Distribution: 55 / 50 / 80 / 140 / 125 / 130 (+35 Def, +20 SpA, +35 SpD, +10 Spe) Justification: Alakazam takes a slightly more defensive role while still gaining offensive boosts. Levitate lets it safely switch safely in on double dance Thick Fat Rhydon to force it to switch, allowing Alakazam to set up using Calm Mind.
Name of the Pokemon: Steelix Role(s): Physical Wallbreaker, Grassy Terrain abuser, Physical wall Type: Steel / Fire Abilities: Sturdy / Heavy Metal Stat Distribution: 75 / 85 / 150 / 55 / 65 / 30 Movepool Additions: Heat Crash, Flare Blitz Movepool Removals: N/A Custom Elements: N/A Justification: Great abuser of Heavy Slam and Heat Crash using Heavy Metal, doubling its chances of being much heavier than the target. Steelix thrives under grassy terrain because of Earthquake damage being halved, and also because it can take out the grass types that will be more common in it. Steelix also has a great defense stat, letting it act as a decent check to Tapu Bulu due to 4x grass resistance and a neutrality to Fire.
Pokemon: Steelix-Mega Role(s): Physical Wall, Mixed Wall, Physical Wallbreaker, Grassy Terrain abuser Type: Steel / Fire Abilities: Empowering Roots Stat Distribution: 75 / 105 / 180 / 55 / 105 / 30 (+20 Atk, +30 Def, +50 SpD) Custom Elements: Empowering Roots: Grassy Coat clone that raises Attack. Justification: Great Mixed wall with an ability that boosts it's power and essentially weakens Earthquake.
Pokemon: Banette Roles: Stallbreaker, Calm Mind Sweeper Type:
Abilities: Insomnia / Bad Dreams | Immunity (HA) Stat Distribution: 55 / 100 / 85 / 90 / 85 / 90 | BST: 505 Added Moves: Aura Sphere, Play Rough, Splash Removed Moves: Dazzling Gleam, Gunk Shot Justification: A stallbreaker and Mew counter that can use Calm Mind and Pain Split alongside Immunity to set up on many walls and sweep through defensive teams, or attempt a Z-Splash setup set to sweep with priority. Stall teams will need Haze or pHaze to keep this at bay, while bulky offense will want to try to paralyze it or just hit it hard. Will-o-Wisp and Taunt are other toys it can play with. Offensive teams will have a much easier time against it, though, so it requires support.
Abilities: *Shadow Surge CustomElements:
Shadow Surge - Summons Cursed Terrain for 5 turns
Cursed Terrain - Nullifies the effect of items and halves the power of Dark-type moves for grounded pokemon ( Misty Terrain clone ( Safeguard -> Magic Room effect and Dragon -> Normal power reduction ) ) Stat Distribution: 55 / 140 / 110 / 110 / 95 / 95 | BST: 605 ( +40 Atk, +25 Def, +20 SpA, +10 SpD, +5 Spe ) Justification: Sets a new type of terrain that messes with a lot of pokemon that would otherwise check or counter it. It screws over Swalot and Eviolite users, as well as many Scarf users that it can OHKO. It also leaves it with only one weakness to Ghost. However, Shadow Claw is an abysmal STAB move, and it can't use a boosting item, so it doesn't do much damage to some targets like Celesteela, Milotic, Tapu Bulu, and Toucannon. Its terrain, while great for itself, also will nerf a lot of potential teammates. Overall though, it's a pretty strong all-out attacker that can heavily pressure balance teams.
Abilities: Clear Body / Sturdy | Dazzling ( HA ) Stat Distribution: 60 / 95 / 145 / 95 / 50 / 95 | BST: 540 Added Moves: Recover, Earthquake, Play Rough, Healing Wish Removed Moves: Psyshock, Earth Power Justification: A reasonably fast Stealth Rock setter and offensive pivot. It boasts very good physical bulk but rather unfortunate special bulk, which makes it excel more at bulky offense than full defense. It's mixed attacking stats, typing, and movepool allow it to be a pretty threatening attacker which leans more towards physical offense because it has Earthquake instead of Earth Power ( and Diamond Storm ). Dazzling helps it avoid things such as Bullet Punch and Water Shuriken.
Abilities: *Compression Custom Elements: Compression - raises Def 1 stage when hit by a Ground-type attack. Ground immunity. Stat Distribution: 60 / 110 / 185 / 110 / 115 / 60 | BST: 640 weight: 550 kg ( +15 Atk, +40 Def, +15 SpA, +65 SpD, -35 Spe ) Justification: A physical or mixed wall with good offensive presence. A very reliable Raticate switch-in as well, fearing only Choice Band Heavy Slam, which 2HKOes. It pairs very well with Swalot as a Ground and Knock Off absorber, but unfortunately Mold Breaker Rhydon still smashes it. It would be invaluable on Stall teams, and could fit on some balance builds as well. It's main issues are its weaknesses to Metagross and Rhydon, which prevent it from outclassing Cofagrigus.
Abilities: Torrent | Water Veil ( HA ) Stat Distribution: 87 / 100 / 70 / 88 / 85 / 70 | BST: 500 Added Moves: Coil, Agility, Dragon Hammer, Dragon Rush, Draco Meteor, Removed Moves: Zap Cannon, Celebrate, Happy Hour, Earthquake, Stone Edge Justification: A well rounded bulky sweeper that can set up with Dragon Dance or Coil, making it a big threat to offensive and bulky offensive teams. It has poor matchups vs. physical walls such as Flaffy, Cofagrigus, and Toucannon, but it can break through many faster pokemon with Dragon Dance or bulky tanks with Coil. It can also run Choice Specs in order to blast its usual counters, though it faces competition from its mega forme. Water Veil so that Mew isn't a hard stop to it.
Pokemon: Gyarados Roles: Mixed Wallbreaker Type:
Abilities: No Guard Stat Distribution: 87 / 130 / 80 / 130 / 113 / 60 | BST: 600 ( +30 Atk, +10 Def, +42 SpA, +28 SpD, -10 Spe ) Justification: A powerful special attacker with perfectly accurate Hurricane, Hydro Pump, Thunder, and Fire Blast. It has tons of room with its attacking stats and movepool to target certain mons. It would actually pair decently with its same-typed cousin Ninjask by breaking down its defensive checks. It has a poor matchup vs. most Electric-types, however. It could still try to Dragon Dance, but it's speed tier is much worse in its Mega forme and it loses its Dual STAB, as well as Water Veil. It can also give up on some coverage to run Agility with special or mixed attacks.

Abilities: Intimidate / Strong Jaw / Last Chomp* Stats: 80 / 80 / 85 / 60 / 105 / 50 (BST: 460) Movepool Additions: Poison Jab, Poison Fang, U-turn, Parting Shot, Sweet Tooth** Movepool Removals: Iron Head, Sucker Punch, Fire Fang Custom Elements:
*Last Chomp: Intimidate clone, but upon switching out and for speed. **Sweet Tooth: Fairy-type Drain Punch clone, bite-based Justification: Fairy-type is a really strong typing in the clean slate metagame because it can counter a lot of dark-type threats like Cloyster, Alolan-Raticate or Flygon. This, coupled with Mawile's access to Intimidate, Last Chomp and Parting Shot, makes it a pokemon that can handle the majority of the metagame. It is also highly versatile, with a really wide movepool, three interesting abilities and even a mega form! It is still crushed by steel-types pokemon like celesteela or metagross who can switch-in without even worrying. Poipole can also revenge kill it.
Ability: Huge Power Stats: 80 / 85 / 105 / 85 / 135 / 70 (BST: 560) (+5 Atk, +20 Def, +25 SpA, +30 SpD, +20 Spe) Justification: Stall's greatest nightmare is back, but this time with less power and no priority, just to avoid messing too much with offense. It has 70 speed, to make it more manageable under trick room, but also to outspeed some defensive pivots (with some speed investment), like Tapu Bulu, Meganium or our new friend Toucannon. Also it has 80/135 special bulk, which is honestly remarquable. Finally, I have to mention that it is very vulnerable to burn and to physical revenge killing.
252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Brick Break vs. 248 HP / 72 Def Celesteela: 244-288 (61.4 - 72.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Brick Break vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Celesteela: 190-224 (47.8 - 56.4%) -- 28.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Quick announcement for you people running Pure Power/clone abilities, please calc to see if its manageable. Gravity Monkey case take into account the huge bulk + relative speed/bulk increase from pre-mega abilities and decent defensive typing for balance. Stitch98 pre-mega medicham is obviously busted, base 80 attacking stats with the pure ability boosts is too much.
