Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 68 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Leech Seed
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power Fire
- Synthesis
Since the ban of Zygarde and the start of SPL X, Mega Venusaur has popped up as a good wall in OU thanks to its bulk, typing, and ability, Thick Fat, which enable it to wall Shift Gear Magearna, Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu, Kartana, and Mega Mawile. It also is immune to Toxic and Leech Seed and has the ability to absorb Toxic Spikes; this helps it wall Celesteela more reliably and eases the matchup against Toxic Spikes. Mega Venusaur can also poison and use Leech Seed against its checks, like Heatran and Tornadus-T, making it annoying to switch in to. However, Mega Venusaur struggles with Psychic-, Fire-, and Flying-types and can often be overwhelmed by what it checks. Water-types like Rotom-W and Tapu Fini make for good partners as do Steel-types, most notably Celesteela and Magearna, that can take on Psychic- and Flying-types like Tapu Lele and Tornadus-T.
