Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
so uh im pulling another team this time..looks crappy on paper (basically 6 sweepers like some low ladder HO) but despite that and a lack of deffogers, it can still come up clutch in the end
Arceus-Fairy @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 238 Def / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Refresh
- Judgment
- Recover
I hope this makes samples its a good team not rlly weak to anything besides Arc steal kinda just twave stall just keep switching between zyg and necro then ye its and oppp team imo
Basically it's a classic web team whit Smeargle as lead. I really like nuzzle which allow to do not be totally destroy by Taunt and may bother sweeper like mray. Mray band Jolly is an incredible breaker especially in the beginning of the game. The rest of the team is composed of 3 ceus (ghost, steel and fairy) ghost and steel arceus are both great users of set up moves, ghost ceus is clearly monster whit the web and can clean the game. Steel ceus is a mon which can be use to deal whit mons like Pkyogre or deoxys thanks to Calm Mind. Fairy ceus is here to support the team whit wow and perish sing, moreover it can easily run over Marshadow and Zygarde which are pain for the team.
Yveltal complete the team and can do correct damage whit the lo whitout having to set up.
Smeargle
@ Focus Sash
Ability: Moody
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sticky Web
- Stealth Rock
- Nuzzle
As mentioned, a really classic set. You just need to set the sticky and the sr and the job is done
Kick Ass (Rayquaza-Mega) @ Choice Band
Ability: Delta Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Dragon Ascent
- V-create
- Extreme Speed
The big Boi. Theorically if you well anticipated your opponent it can OHKO
-or 2 OHKO if the opponent run some weird very defensive spread
all the metagame after the sr whit Dragon Ascent (for the arceus form except the steel one, Yveltal, Xerneas... ) , Waterfall (for Primal Groudon lead and if needed you can pray for a flinch VS Shuckle) and V-Create (Necrozma dusk, steel ceus plus some other random stuff)
252+ Atk Choice Band Rayquaza-Mega Dragon Ascent vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Arceus: 354-417 (80.2 - 94.5%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Rayquaza-Mega Dragon Ascent vs. 0 HP / 168 Def Xerneas: 364-429 (92.6 - 109.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Rayquaza-Mega Dragon Ascent vs. 252 HP / 176+ Def Yveltal: 328-387 (71.9 - 84.8%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
Arceus-Ghost @ Ghostium Z
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shadow Force
- Extreme Speed
- Swords Dance
- Brick Break
The cleaner of the team. Once the opposing mons are weakened GhostCeus can easily finish the game whit Z Ghost and brick break for pokemon like Arceus.
Arceus-Steel @ Iron Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 68 Def / 192 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Judgment
- Recover
- Earth Power
I really like this pokémon since it brings bulk to the team and may help to deal whit strong special sweeper.
Another mon that I really like. It can easily take care of beating Mon such as Yveltal or Marshadow, will o wisp may surprise Necrozma which would like to set up on Fairyceus.
Yveltal @ Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Taunt
- Sucker Punch
The last one, aka Death. I do not have much to say about it, it's globally a good mon which may Taunt Pgroudon or defogger like Poison ceus or Bulky Ceus. It can also kill Scarf or Band ray whit sucker punch after dragon Ascent.
Finally I really like this team. You do not have to mind game a lot whit it. Do not be effraid by losing Mon. The main goal of this team is to end up the game very fast. The absence of deffoger is not so problematic since you will probably never send more than 1 or 2 times Mray in the field. Yveltal can recover life whit Oblivion Wings and ceus form are not much bothered by hazard. (except vs hazard stack but it is not common at all so if you manage to Taunt spikers whit Yveltal it should be ok) then if you are really effraid by them you can run Defog over Perish Song on Fairy Ceus.
Main Threats and flaws of the team :
If you do not manage to put the sticky web the team is really slow and MRay Adamant
becomes useless due to its bad speed. Steel ceus will have a lot of problem to sweep and Ghost ceus will be destroy by Marshadow. So be careful whit Smeargle.
Baton pass are a big problem for the team since no mons in the team can beat them, except if you use Roar on Fairy ceus.
Psy spamm
I do not know if it's me who is very bad against them but I never won vs a psy spam, theorically Shadow ceus may sweep a psy spam but due to deoxys' Taunt I can not put the sticky. (so if someone could teach me how to it would be nice x)) then steel ceus also has a decent match up but cause' of uNecrozma it's pretty hard for it to stay alive whit engouh HP.
Trappers
If well used Trappers like Gothitelle can easily play around the team
I unfortunately do not have much replays to post but here some.
Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Fire Punch
- Toxic
- Dragon Tail
- Precipice Blades
So you guys have by now noticed that I've spammed this team quite a bit for roomtours and ladder. Peaked at 2075 twice, and gotten many smaller peaks, with an RMT in the works. It's one of my best teams and I'm very proud of it.
The star is Obv Heatran, explained what it does multiple times, and acts as a pivot for a lot of threats to my team. By no means is this poke dead weight, it's one of those things where Heatran can pull out otherwise shitty Balance MUs and turn it into a playground for it. Solid poke that I've advertised a lot, and it will always have a place in my heart.
Ultra is an easy sweeper for weakened stalls by heatran, balances, and a lot of HO which my team can struggle with. Rock Blast is put here so I have a chance to OHKO lead smeargle, break viv(if Heatran goes down) and beat annoying stuff like Yveltal, Lugia and Deoxys
Scarf Mray is this team's dedicated revenge killer, honestly think Scarf is an amazing set rn, and it helps vs big threats like other Mray's, Ultra, Geo xern, and Rock Polish mane.
Waterceus forms the team's tandem defensive core, Heatran plus Water is fucking nasty, they complement each other so well it's insane. Waterceus can afford to run Dual status, which allows it to annoy almost any pokemon and weaken obnoxious walls.
Darkceus is my defogger and main check to Dusk Mane and Ultra Necrozma, aas well as providing a secondary answer to Psyspam, Mray, mgar, Lunala and Mewtwo. Toxic is opted over wisp to cripple Defensive yveltal and specifically earth power fairceus.
Last member is my check to Pogre, Pdon, as well as beating most support arcs, Steels, and being able to phase with Dtail spam. Paired with rocks on Heatran, Pdon can continually phase and weaken the team for cleaners like scarf mray and ultra necro
Peak:
(Decayed a bit)
Hopefully people use this instead of weird garbo like trick room and electricity. Don't expect immediate results, Heatran can be tricky to utilize properly.
Thanks for reading mates.
Sup everyone. Now that I have been eliminated from the spring ssnl and am likely to take a semi or permanent break from mons, I now have no problem sharing the wealth of teams I have built. While I would not consider any of these groundbreaking masterpieces, most of them are pretty solid and enjoyable to play with. Furthermore, players could use these for ideas and perhaps make them into even better creations. So alas:
Buzzwole Gastro Stall
Why should I use it? + team explanation.
It is a pretty solid team all-around and netting wins against competent players is very satisfying. The only ag team on showdown that utilizes both gastrodon and buzzwole. Defensive Necrozma is used as the rock setter, Xerneas/Arceus Fairy counter, and toxic switch-in. Buzzwole comes in to check ES Killer, Arceus Dark and life orb Marsh( this literally does nothing to it). Arceus water is used to switch in and stop Primal Groudon, which otherwise would torment this team. In addition, it has enough bulk to survive a +1 life orb ascent from adamant mega ray. This Llama of Transparency(Arceus Water) also beats and obliterates those annoying zygarde. Arceus rock is used as the defogger, yveltal check and most importantly a mega ray switch-in. This Heart of Stone( Arceus Rock) can reliably switch in to scarf, band( with the exception of earthquake and waterfall) and mixed mega ray. Mr. AG( Rayquaza Mega) takes the 5th slot as the most destructive pokemon in the game. It is equipped with choice scarf to revenge kill and clean up the field when teams have been weakened. Most notably revenge killing necrozma ultra, mega rayquaza, marshadow, mewtwo and deoxys-A on psyspam teams. Last but not least, I present you with my pet slug( Gastrodon). While not having much of an offensive presence, this mon is very important to the team. Gastrodon can switch into those fierce-some whales like it was nothing, absorbing those powerful water spout and origin pulses. Confide is run to stop cm kyogre, cm steelceus and 252 hp cm ceus in general from sweeping. Earth power hits primal groudon, offensive necrozma, arceus poison and arceus steel for solid damage.
What does it struggle against?
- The team is admittedly passive and struggles in breaking stall
- life orb yveltal is a problem once arceus rock and rayquaza mega die
- Smeargle is aids in general and vivillon
- Defensive Zygarde on hazard stack can be pain to deal with, especially once arceus water is knocked out
- DD mega ray can sweep if arceus water is chipped and scarf ray is knocked out
- Toxic is an issue once Necrozma is gone
I think this team is better than the first one I posted and I really like it. Utilizing stalltwo with hazards is very fun and can break most stall, with the exception of stall run with mega sab. And winning with gastro multiple ways is flat-out cool.
Team Explanation:
Gastrodon switches into kyogre primal and prevents cm arceus steel and other 252 hp ceus from sweeping. Godzilla(Tyranitar Mega) is used to pursuit trap mega gar, switch into locked mega ray v-create and ascent and chip with foul play or pursuit, beat cm necro ultra. It also switches into yveltal with ease and can counter back with rock tomb. Dragon tail is to phaze mega ray out at +1( 252 hp 252 def mega tar mega can take a +1 earthquake ) and other threats. Skarmory synergizes well with mega ttar, evading possible earthquakes from mega ray and phazing ekiller, necro dm and dd earthquake mega ray. This Stone Bird( Skarmory) also sets spikes and is the defogger. Arceus water acts as a don check, toxic absorber with refresh, can switch into marshadow and beat dm with its stab judgment. Toxic Persona(Arceus Poison) is the rock setter, xerneas counter, and toxic switch-in. It is eve'd with enough speed to outpace rayquaza mega and cripple with will-o-wisp. Last but not least, Stall two appropriately rounds off the last spot and boy does it do work. After getting hazards up and dark mons out of the way, this thing is truly a menace. It beats defensive zygarde, arceus poison, necro ultra, support arceus not named dark, ferrothorn, defensive tyranitar and other stall mons in general.
What does it struggle against?
- Stall with mega sab
- Opposing stalltwo and metwo in general
- Swords dance primal groudon
- Vivillon
- CM arceus ground
- Psyshock/Psychic Xerneas in psychic terrain
- Psyspam and Webs can be annoying
Overshadowed by rayquaza mega and gengar mega, Mewtwo Y is an excellent mon to use. I used this team in the open finals and produced good results. This replay illustrates it pretty well: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7anythinggoes-868732858
Alternative set options:
- defensive zygarde can opt to run glare in place of toxic if cm arceus steel is an issue
- Mewtwo Y can opt to use a cm ice beam/focus blast/flamethrower set if you feel the three atks coverage is unnecessary. Stall two in place of mmy works as well
Eelektross Rotom-w Balance
Not great, but definitely usable. And besides, why not try to goat Eelektross?
Gone are the days where ekillers and arceus spam plagued the ladder. This is your chance to use a pretty solid arceus spam and take a break from all of those standard balance teams. Arceus Fairy is used to check marsh, yveltal and for mega ray. Thunder wave is used to cripple arceus poison, necrozma dm and gives speed control for the ekillers. Arceus Poison is the xerneas check and the all-important toxic cover. Roar is put on it to let it phaze xerneas because of no z move. Arceus Dark is needed to beat ultra necrozma and dm. Z Giga Impact ekiller breaks through defensive zygarde, defensive yveltal and support arceus at +2 and is just good at nuking things in general. Facade ekiller absorbs wisps and toxic and hits back hard. CM sub arceus normal is there to break past cele, skarmory, defensive zygarde, ferrothorn and other physical walls.
This team is both very simple and fun to use. Utilizing a bulky balance, it can switch into most offensive threats and spread paralysis. Once you gain speed control, the whales can rekt havoc. Arceus rock + defensive zygarde are very important to the team, as they allow you to switch out a primal kyogre after a kill and take a hit from scarf, band or mixed mega ray. Zygarde is also the premier spreader of paralysis via glare and is usually a safe primal groudon switch-in. It is a bit cm arceus ground weak( which arceus grass can be plugged in to deal with that better), opposing thunder primal ogre can cause issues and dd mega ray can sweep if defensive zygarde is chipped. Goth is also a pain in the ass. But besides that, it is pretty solid all-around. I believe this can be improved even further by ambitious and aspiring battlers.
There is not really much to say about this that I haven't already said in the anything goes viability ranking threads. I won three battles in the ag open and Robyn won a battle in the spring seasonal. Alternatively, blissey can be used in place of chansey if you don't care for the added bulk and want to save your blob from mega gar and gothitelle. Perish song arceus steel can be put in place of fairy for bp aids and a toxic cover in expense to being weaker to sub dd zygarde. This replay illustrates it pretty well: https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7anythinggoes-868750000
This team has not exactly aged well and is not that great, but I decided to post it since this has history behind it. This is the first team that I got to 2100+ with in USM as CM. Relive the classic and tweak it any way you wish.
This is my version of a very good Skarph/Zenithial team. I tore it up on ladder and my first ssnl run with this one. CM refresh fairy is used to absorb status and potentially sweep when its checks are out of the way and team is weakened. CM defensive ogre is used to take hits from pdon and mega ray, retaliating back.
Arceus-Poison @ Poisonium Z
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 64 SpD / 96 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab
- Recover
- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp
Zygarde Hazard Stack CM dragon
This is pretty much a standard zygarde hazard stack, but utilizing the under-explored arceus dragon. Mega gengar aids it greatly, destroying fairies that would otherwise get in its way. 252 hp is used on arceus dragon to take attacks better and flamethrower gives it the ability to destroy steel mons that would otherwise resist it.
Dumping my team builder because of irl stuff (med school apps). I think a few of these teams are rock solid and are pretty good for tours and ladder play. I would hope that least one of them is good enough to be a sample imo. The first team features Band Mega Ray and Z-Lunala, a dynamic offense core that can break through balances and stalls easily. The second team is similar but features Dual Band Mega Ray and Ho-Oh coupled with both CM Groundceus and CM Fairyceus - that team exerts a tremendous amount of offensive pressure and still has reliable hazard control. The third team replaces Band Ho-Oh with SD Ultra Necro, a still potent attacking combination. The fourth team is essentially a Band Mega Ray Bulky Balance that improves on the current sample made by Zenithial. The fifth team is a Tyranitar Semi-Stall team with a few unorthodox sets in Bulky SD Dusk Mane and CM RestTalk Primal Kyogre, two mons that in tandem can beat opposing stalls and balances while standing up to things stall has trouble with like Naganadel. Lastly, the sixth team is a Tapu Koko HO that features Band Mega Ray and Nasty Plot Thundy-T and was used just for fun to honor MDB. Overall, some of these teams are better than others and I hope that people enjoy using them. Until then, deuces AG, it's been real! :)
Edit: If I have more teams, I'll edit this post and dump them accordingly. Cheers to reading this and I'll see you all in a few months!
I am going to drop some heat asf teams on this thread in the near future, but I'm hesitant to do so because a few of the teams I've created have been kept in hiding for a while, and I don't intend on releasing them until I decide to ladder with them (for more than just a few games). For now though, I can drop this:
While this is certainly not the best AG team I've created, it is one of my better ones and it can easily be used to crack into the top 20 on the ladder (my friend managed to get into the top 10 in a single day of laddering with it on an account called "removing the gloves," although his rating soon took a heavy hit likely due to him getting fatigued playing so many games in a day, and his rating has since decayed from inactivity). I'm pretty sure someone could easily peak the ladder with this team given the proper pacing. I'd say the team's biggest weakness is that it somewhat lacks recovery, and is susceptible to toxic damage. However, it still manages to handle stall decently, and the overall offensive power of the team, coupled with its ability to handle baton pass, makes it fairly usable, and honestly gives it decent match-ups across the board. Figy berry mega rayquaza is a surprisingly effective win con, and the mixed dawn wings ultra necrozma manages to catch a lot of people off guard.
I honestly think my Psychic Terrain Offense deserves a spot in the team showcase, I have been relatively successful with the team and I have heard plenty of complaints from people about how they hate playing against it
I've had moderate success with this team, and it may be one of the best Palkia AG teams created thus far. Although it has its flaws, it's fun to use. One thing I'd like to note though, you may be wondering; why on earth does Palkia run aura sphere? Well, the answer to that is simple, F*CKING SMEARGLE. You can easily switch aura sphere out for flamethrower to have a better match-up against Ferrothorn and it would probably make the team better, but I prefer aura sphere because I HATE SMEARGLE.
This is yet another odd team, because it features a Fairy Arceus set that I haven't seen anyone else use, Flash Fairyceus!! Now, don't be deceived, Flash on Fairyceus may seem like a useless meme, but you'd be surprised how effective it can be. Steel and poison types like to switch in on Fairy Arceus expecting a toxic, but they instead get hit with an accuracy drop that phases them out more than you would expect. Just watch some of the replays I have provided. Also, I resorted to giving my normal type arceus safety goggles because once again, I HATE SMEARGLE!!
This is a very situational team. In some match ups, it completely obliterates opponents and comes across as unstoppable, but in others, it gets completely demolished and seems like a joke. Make of it what you will. I managed to get a 96 GXE on an account called "DeathGodAnpu" with this team, but sadly I do not have the screenshot because I was hoping to get a higher GXE and so I didn't screenshot that beautiful 96.0%. The GXE on that account has since dwindled.
I would like to nominate sitonai's ho team to be a sample team, this team has been proven to be very successful and it fits all the criteria to become a sample.
So a while ago I dropped a few teams, including that neat block zyg team. I’ve continued to optimize it further.
Presenting: the 22nd version of that team. I will not rest to any meaningful extent until I’ve actually made this team good, and this is the closest I’ve gotten to something usable.
Further experimentation and examining an old set from next best thing led to a weird af team with regenvest ho-oh that actually turns out to be slightly usable. As always, if anyone feels like improving either of these teams, I’d love it if you’d send me a paste, whether here or on PS!
Ho-Oh @ Assault Vest

I thought I would post the teams I used in agpl because why not https://pokepast.es/b568d4d626c15f0c Lando webs, Used this team against sitonai and it worked pretty well, I have also used this team and variations of it quite a lot on ladder and in other tours and it has done very well for me.
https://pokepast.es/51bdd23cc3767b47 This is just an excadrill offense built by velvet blood that I used against quaseem, This team is just an exca offense that abuses viv with the speed control provided by rock tomb exca
Now for some teams that I didn't use in agpl but I really like them so I thought I would post team
Agpl team dump, I built way more than I ever have before for this tourn, none of my teams were recycled. I don't have my week 1 team rn and I'm too lazy to re-create it, I'm sure some goofball has the importable if u want it. Anyway, onto the teams I do have.
https://pokepast.es/76e67d1f87063f15 this is a regular don ho I built for week two vs Sets. I went through a bunch of diff mons for the last slot but finally decided on ho oh. The goal of this team was to look like a standard balance build, therefore upsetting the opponents lead. It then uses glare and twave support to slow the opposing team down and let the teams sweepers dominate. Overall a fun and solid team that can be interchanged with a lot of different mons to make it work in unique ways.
https://pokepast.es/7303ad19e99d899a this was my intended team vs grnbln. It's p much just a dare-you-to-bring-pogre where I slapped on sd Defog Waterceus to kill stuff it has no right killing. Would I use this seriously? No, I'm not even the hugest fan of this one.
https://pokepast.es/04e8b4f172173a16 my game one team vs terra. I did some terrible prep week four and I think this team exemplifies it. I obv prepped for pogre but didn't consider cm ground at all. In the game, I killed ground with outrage from zek before it could do anything, but then i just get reverse swept by xern cuz I opted for dtail> roar, another mistake.
https://pokepast.es/2e7b8577a1a72463 this game two team for terra originally had lo ice beam magic coat ekiller over pdon, but I ended up changing it later on for ladder use. Overall not a bad team, I just didn't play especially well that game.
https://pokepast.es/bba516c1fbd76318 the intended g3 team. It's something you can use if you're feeling quad arc balance, but I think I refined this concept a lot more in week 5(even though I lost that game). U get 6-0d by scarf ogre and dominated by pogre unfortunately.
https://pokepast.es/b7cc57f341a52fef these final three teams are probably the most innovative and fun to use, I'm quite proud of them. This one is specifically for the bulky balance mu. Be aware that if you're not facing that mu, this team doesn't operate nearly as well. Anyway, I'm using this jank Mkanga set that p much cleans balances with hazard stack. Free sub on bulky mons, yawn the switchin, yawn again, etc, until you can just win with seismic toss spam. Ferro has chople so I don't auto lose to geo xern, and I put twave> ice beam on ground for some much needed speed control. This is a rly fun team to use, and I encourage you to test it out.
https://pokepast.es/23066403556866bf zenithial spectating me vs ice must've had the time of his.life with all them ttar. This like I mentioned before, is a much more refined quad arc spam team. The biggest problem for this team is definitely offensive pdon and ekiller (both of which I got facing ice) but other than that, this team is a real annoyance to come up against and simple to play. It's not bad vs ladder since u got checks to ladder bs, definitely the easiest team out of the final three to use and have success with.
https://pokepast.es/922209e85fbce120 after being peer pressured for the entire fucking tourn, I brought heatran in my final game. This is a really solid team, and if you don't have the tools to break it, there's not much you can do but sit and wait for death. Yes, this team has problems with ogre, but it's fairly easy to get around since yve completely fucked it up, and gira can always land a toxic on it. This definitely has a sharp skill curve to utilize properly(as almost all heatran teams do) but I'm supremely satisfied with the team as a whole.
There u go, almost all my prep for agpl. I think a lot of these teams pushed me out of my comfort zone to win with, and the extensive prep every week 100% improves my building skills. Thanks for reading, I'll see you guys in ssnl!
