Someone on Reddit noticed that this seems to be a reference to the Lingsberg runestones - it does look pretty similar!

....yeah I dont think this dex is complete. I'll wait for the datamines because stuff like mythicals cant be found by normal gameplay means, and just 3 new legends makes me suspicious as hell.

Waiting for the final dex percentages, but at a glance, Unova got KANTOOO-level shine and Hoenn/Sinnoh got ORAS Frontier'd.

Still waiting on *really* good reasons for this.

Mythicals might get added after Eternatus, which probably will give us slots for Meltan, Melmetal, Mew and Mewtwo.

Not a lot more than that tho. If there's any.

Wouldn't it be amazing if there was a patch post launch that would shake up everything dex related? I thought i heard someone mention dlc earlier, where did that come from?

I'm loving it. This meta reminds me sooooo much of Third Gen (or even DPPl). 401 Pokémon (RSE had 386), from which a bunch of them are reliably usable and no Power Creep. Fifth Gen is by far the greatest Pokémon Generation in terms of raw ambition and content, but introduced the power creep we all know. There're decens of Pokémon like Kommo-o that, even if still usable, would've been absolute madness in 3rd or 4th Gen environments, but the power creep doesn't allow them to do that great. Just look at the list:

Final-Galar-checklist.png

Sure, I'll not go into a deep competitive analysis, but from the looks of it Kommo-o is 200% times better. Intimidate Qwilfish is not a bad spiker, Skarm isn't in the games and neither is Celesteela, meaning Corviknight has no competition in the Steel/Flying department. Megas are gone, Heatran and Landorus are no more, Magearna is rekt... Just look at the image, what are the best Pokémon you find? Things like Hawlucha —with no Electric Terrain support—, , Aegislash, Reuniclus, Hydreigon, Ferrothorn, Toxapex, Gyarados and then things like Hippowdon, Togekiss, Conkeldurr, Toxicroak, Mamoswine, Weavile, Bisharp...

Idk, it looks great. Oc, for the sake of in-game content I'll always preffer the entire dex. But, for the sake of playability, I do think this is not a step in the wrong direction. I'm pretty sure 8th Gen Meta would've remain Mage, Torn, Land, Regen Tangrowth and other things we are bored of as top OU contendants, just because even if the meta changes, they are so, soooo ahead in terms of typing, abilities, movepool or a combination of those that will always reign above everything else.

About Hawlucha, it could potentially Dynamax and run Thunder Punch if needed.

So a few non-legendary Pokemon I've noticed that will be amazing in the new Ubers format, barring any unexpected cool stuff

Aegislash: Self-evident really, but its type matches up solidly with the cover legendaries, it's immune to trapping (and wrecks both trappers anyway) and its effective 720BST willl be the highest in the game.

Volcarona: Very good in and of itself, and has a favourable type matchup against both Zacian forms, both Zamazenta forms, Aegislash and presumably the Dark-type Eternatus. I expect this one will be a mainstay, though it depends on what movepools Zacian and Zamazenta get -- rock type moves are as lethal to it as ever.

Gothitelle and Wobbuffet: Depends on the stats of the cover legends, but being able to trap and wall them is immensely useful when you know which opposing threats are the most dangerous.

Ferrothorn: Loses to Zamazenta, but otherwise still likely to be a decent hazards setter and general annoyance. Zacian's typing and Steel resisting itself makes me think non-legendary steels will still be pretty good in this meta.

Shedinja: Depending on movepools, might wall Zacian and Zamazenta. Another reason they will be inclined to run rock as a coverage move if they can.

Ditto: When 680BST threats are so rare, being able to get a third one is quite potent. Will also likely see use as an answer to Volcarona and any other setup shenanigans.

The big losers of the format

Tyranitar: Its sand is irrelevant when ubers is positively swarming with Steel types, and all of those steel types have amazing type matchups against it.

Hydreigon: Loses to both cover legendaries. Seems outclassed by Volcarona at everything it wants to be doing, and likely to share utility space with Eternatus.

Clefable: I don't see a possible world where any Fairy type other than Zacian makes any headway in this format.

In general, Dark types other than Eternatus and anything that loses to Steel will just get crowded out of the meta.

Appletun, the evo of Flapple that was predicted and the one that "worm in the apple" G-Max:

I'm seeing on Twitter and 4chan that apparently this and flapple are actually version-based split evos of applin that share the same gigantamax? Flapple -> sword, appletun -> shield.

Looking back at the ultra blurry guidebook page for the gmax, they do have what looks like two separate base forms in the corners and two gmax move boxes. Bizarre.

Volcarona isn't in.

So I guess Magnezone isn't in? I don't like the sound of that as it opens up Steel spam.

Maybe one of the new Pokémon gets Magnet Pull.
