Notable Moves:
- Taunt
- Toxic
- Overdrive
- Boomburst
- Shift Gear
- Fire Punch
- Sludge Bomb
- Sludge Wave

New Ability:

Punk Rock - Boosts the power of sound-based moves. The Pokémon also takes half the damage from these kinds of moves.

As of right now, we're not sure how much sound-based moves are boosted.

New Moves:

Overdrive - The user attacks opposing Pokémon by twanging a guitar or bass guitar, causing a huge echo and strong vibration.

Overdrive is a sound-based move and boosted by Punk Rock as a result.

Pros:

- Toxtricity possesses over a good offensive typing combined with decent coverage options.
- Its typing also makes it immune to Toxic and resistant to common types.
- It also has access to some niche options that make it unpredictable to some extent.

Cons:

- Because it's relatively slow, Toxtricity will struggle doing much against offensively-oriented teams.
- It lacks reliable recovery and isn't very bulky, meaning it can be worn down relatively quickly.
- Toxtricity has to rely on coverage options coming from its weaker offensive stat, such as Fire Punch, in order to deal with Pokemon like Ferrothorn.

I think Toxtricity will definitely find a niche for itself in OU thanks to its solid matchup against bulkier teams, though it'll likely fall to UU or maybe even RU anyways because of its considerable drawbacks.

Gigantamaxing Potential:
- Toxtricity is one of the few Pokemon that has access to the mechanic known as Gigantamax, meaning it is probably affordable on certain teams.
- Through its Gigantamax form, Toxtricity gains access to a strong Electric-type signature move called G-Max Stun Shock, which will either poison or paralyze the foe.
- To add onto that, Gigantamax Toxtricity also gets to make use of some stronger coverage options in Max Flare.

Potential Movesets:

Toxtricity @ Life Orb / Silk Scarf / Expert Belt
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty / Naive / Mild / Rash Nature
- Overdrive
- Boomburst
- Fire Punch
- Toxic / Sludge Bomb / Shift Gear / Taunt

As you can tell, I tried to be as inclusive as possible. A Life Orb allows Toxtricity to overwhelm Ferrothorn and specially defensive Hippowdon pretty easily, though it also makes it get worn down really quickly. Silk Scarf is a decent option that allows Toxtricity to still pressure Hippowdon with Boomburst, without being worn down, although it comes at the cost of worsening rolls against Ferrothorn. Lastly, Toxtricity could even run an Expert Belt in order to 2HKO Ferrothorn without losing HP so quickly. Thanks to Toxtricity's ability, Punk Rock, Boomburst can become a really spammable move that can allow it to overwhelm checks such as Hippowdon. Fire Punch is useful coverage for Ferrothorn. The last slot can honestly be a bunch of different things. Personally, I think Toxic's going to be the most useful because its distribution is far worse in SWSH compared to any previous generation, and will allow Toxtricity to pressure Hippowdon even further. Sludge Bomb is an alternative option that can pressure Fairy-types, while still allowing Toxtricity to cripple Hippowdon pretty well. I doubt it'll be anywhere near consistent, but Toxtricity could make use of Shift Gear to get some sweeps against unprepared teams. It also allows it to overwhelm Ferrothorn with much less chip damage. Lastly, I figured that I should include Taunt because Toxtricity can make decent use of it by preventing bulkier Pokemon from healing, though it can 2HKO most of the important ones anyways.

Black Sludge might be an option for an item as well, as it can counteract being worn down decently.

although i doubt this thing is really worth using in OU, if you do use it you can opt for hex in the final slot/over fire punch in order to hit the very common dragapult. it hits decently hard:

252+ SpA Life Orb Toxtricity Hex (65 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Dragapult: 234-278 (73.8 - 87.6%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

very limited movepool otherwise tho. use a shift gear set and hope u catch a weirdly good matchup imo

Banned deucer.
It's a shame this thing ended up being a bit contradictory. A great ability, some hard hitting moves and a slick typing... But it's the the accursed SLOW, FRAIL, MIXED ATTACKER.

I think, if I am to use this, it would probably be with a Shift Gear set. It's coverage is good for overwhelming the typical cores people are hyping up. Toxapex + Ferrothorn + Corviknight. I think it'll take some time to get popular but I could see it climbing as a decent anti meta Pokemon.

I could see it being a niche counter to Toxapex with its immunity to being poisoned, ability to shrug off burns from Scald, and a strong super-effective STAB. We'll have to see how much boost Overdrive gets from Punk Rock. It still won't OHKO a fully SpD-invested Pex unless it gets a 50%+ boost or something ridiculous like that. It's also a shame it doesn't have access to Overheat or Fire Blast or something else to scare off Ferrothorn.

It's not like you HAVE to run a mixed set. You can go exclusively physical or special.

Physical Guitar
Ability: Punk Rock
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
EV's: (HP 4) (Atk 252) (Speed 252)
Shift Gear
Gunk Shot/Poison Jab
Thunder Punch
Fire Punch/Drain Punch

Special Bass
Ability: Punk Rock
Item: Life Orb/Throat Spray (Boosts Sp.Atk after using a sound move)
Nature: Modest
EV's: (HP 4) (Sp.Atk 252) (Speed 252)
Shift Gear (Just for the speed)
Overdrive
Boomburst
Sludge Bomb

Can a modest Toxricity learn Shift Gear? Disregarding nature mints, that is.

Below average speed, absorbs toxic spikes, Solid Special attack boosted by its ability, immune to T-wave; Toxtricity reminds me alot of Nidoking. Lacking the raw coverage the King had, it does get a pivot move to make up for it and can fulfill a similar role.

Toxtricity @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overdrive
- Boomburst
- Sludge Wave
- Volt Switch

You could run Specs instead of Scarf, giving it a monstrous 2.25x Sp.Atk for Sound Moves.

Specs should allow Toxtricity to wall break almost anything. Shift Gear seems like an over investment on something that will fall over to a single ground type move.

Also,
If you want a really funky status/support set you could try this:

Toxtricity @ Shuca Berry/Black Sludge
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
0 IV Spe
- Nuzzle
- Metal Sound
- Toxic
- Volt Switch

2 guaranteed statuses of your choice, -2 Sp.Def to force switch-outs when you late Volt Switch into a special sweeper.

Instead of using Metal Sound, you could use Acid Spray. Doesn't work on Steel Types but does do break Sturdy, Focus Sashes and Disguises.

mixed fun :D

I originally had Acid Spray, but I figured Toxic or Nuzzle is sufficient to break Sturdy/Focus Sash/Disguise. If they were relying on any of those, they definitely didn't need a -2 Sp. Def to help take it down.

A little silly and perhaps unnoticed, but Toxtricity gets Snarl, which is boosted by either Punk Rock or Technician. If the 1.5x power boost from Punk Rock is to be believed, it gets decent neutral coverage in essentially a Dark Pulse with a bonus SpA drop. In this way it can hit Ferrothorn neutrally (less hard, mind you) but it can go full Modest/Timid, and Snarl's SpA drop can help it in niche cases like tanking another Scald or something.

Boomburst over Sludge Bomb, as to hit Grounds for neutral damage and have a second option to activate Throat Spray. I've had great success with that set, way to go, imo.

Based on my calculations and trials using the same toxtricity and the exact same opponent while the toxtricity knew swift (60 base power special normal move) and round (60 base power special normal move but sound based), it's only an increase of 25% or 1.25. The range of values obtained were from 35.1-40.2 with an average of 37.7 while the boosted had a range of 44.3-50.1 with an average of 47.4. That's an average increase of 1.257
Looks like Punk Rock is only a 25% boost

I think that specs is a pretty solid set, you need some pivot support to bring him in, but it’s really hard to to stop him from breaking shit, i don’t like throat spray because it’s really easy to force him to switch out, and then you lost your item. Specs can 3KO ferro with overdrive

Ooo boomburst definitely a good call. I run this mixed just because in some testing on a special attacker STAB set then get appropriately set up and get completely walled out by Excadrill. the fire punch will hit hard enough to melt it after a gear or two

I've found Snarl to be a great option on the shift gear set, mostly for Dragapult which is everywhere right now.
was definitely looking at snarl for this coverage, great call!

It seems like it's not correctly implemented yet on showdown, but Toxtricity got two forms with different movepools. The different moves are:
Amped Form: VenoShock, Shift Gear
LowKey Form: Venom Drench, Magnetic Flux
This means that there is some compatibility issues, but you're gonna tell me: "We don't care, only Shift gear is relevant in those", and you wouldn't be wrong.
But here is the most important thing, the form of your Toxtricity is determined by your evolving Toxel nature, which means some natures are incompatible with Shift gear.
Amped Form: Hardy, Brave, Adamant, Naughty, Docile, Impish, Lax, Hasty, Jolly, Naive, Rash, Sassy, or Quirky
LowKey Form: Lonely, Bold, Relaxed, Timid, Serious, Modest, Mild, Quiet, Bashful, Calm, Gentle, or Careful.

Which basically means, Timid/Modest/Mild are not something you can run with Shift Gear (at least you should be able to). Which means you probably shouldn't run any of those if you don't want your opponent to know you are not running shift gear.

PS: this is based of bulbapedia, and is not how it's currently implanted on ps.
Edit: forgot about the Nature changing Item, my bad, Ignore this ^^

Nature mints solve this problem.

You could evolve into Amped, grab Shift Gear, and change your nature to Timid/Modest/Mild.

Struggling with finding the perfect mixed set to deal with my friends stall team hoping to have moves to handle both toxapex and ferrothorn so fire punch and a strong electric move seem like a necessity. But would rather not go for a physical attack route
