Mew's good bulk combined with its wide array of utility moves and pure Psychic typing makes it a good stallbreaker that can be troublesome for a variety of types such as Steel, Ground, and Psychic to deal with. Its access to moves such as Taunt, Knock Off, and Will-O-Wisp combined with reliable recovery in Roost allows it to break down a variety of defensive Pokemon in the Monotype metagame such as Toxapex, Corviknight, and Ferrothorn, as well as cripple offensive Pokemon such as Excadrill and Duraludon. Taunt is especially important, as it prevents said defensive Pokemon from healing, setting up, spreading status, and setting entry hazards. The given EV spread allows Mew to outspeed Mimikyu and Kyurem-B in order to cripple both before they can move and prevent the latter from using Dragon Dance with Taunt while also outpacing other offensive Pokemon such as Bisharp and Mamoswine.
Mew dislikes dealing with wallbreakers such as Dragapult and Keldeo. Choice Scarf users such as Indeedee and Gardevoir support Mew by revenge killing said wallbreakers, while Mew can break down defensive Pokemon like Corviknight that they struggle with. Indeedee's Normal typing also allows it to switch into Ghost-type moves such as Gengar and Dragapult's Shadow Ball. Hatterene can utilize its Magic Bounce to reflect entry hazards that wear down and cripple Mew as it switches in. Gardevoir and Hatterene are also good checks to Dark-type Pokemon such as Hydreigon and Weavile that Mew struggles with, while Healing Wish users such as the aforementioned Gardevoir, Indeedee-F, Celebi, and Jirachi can heal Mew if it ever gets worn down or inflicted with status. Using its good defensive typing, Celebi can take Water-type attacks such as Seismitoad and Keldeo's Hydro Pump under rain, and in return it appreciates Mew's ability to Taunt Defoggers such as Corviknight, Mandibuzz, and Pelipper in order to keep its Stealth Rock on the field.

Mew's access to Nasty Plot and good coverage options make it a good setup sweeper capable of threatening many types like Steel, Grass, and Poison. Fire Blast is extremely important, as it allows Mew to hit Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Corviknight, Aegislash, and Bisharp for super effective damage, therefore making it amazing in the Steel matchup when set up. Volt Switch is used for pivoting and is particularly useful for breaking Mimikyu's Disguise under Psychic Terrain while keeping Mew healthy. A Colbur Berry allows Mew to take Bisharp's Sucker Punch while helping with other Dark-type attacks. Generally, Mew should find passive Pokemon like Toxapex, Ferrothorn, and Corviknight to set up on and force out with its attacks.
As a setup sweeper, Mew appreciates support from Pokemon like Jirachi and Orbeetle. The former can set Stealth Rock for it, while the latter can set Sticky Web, both supporting Mew by chipping or slowing down foes, respectively. Steath Rock is particularily notable for securing the OHKO on Corviknight at +2 with Fire Blast, as well as breaking Focus Sash on Pokemon such as Cloyster, Dugtrio, and Polteageist that could otherwise stop Mew. Orbeetle can also set dual screens to help Mew set up. Healing Wish users such as Gardevoir, Indeedee-F, Celebi, and Jirachi also support Mew by healing it when it is chipped or statused, giving it more setup opportunities. The aforementioned offensive Pokemon like Indeedee, Hatterene, and Gardevoir make good partners for Mew by supporting it offensively. Indeedee is a strong wallbreaker that can set Psychic Terrain for Mew, protecting it from priority and boosting its Psychic, while Hatterene can keep entry hazards off the field with Magic Bounce, Gardevoir can revenge kill faster threats, and both of these Pokemon are able to take on Dark-type Pokemon for Mew. In return, these offensive Pokemon appreciate Mew's ability to set up and deal with Steel-type Pokemon like Corviknight and Aegislash reliably with Fire Blast.
