Unpopular opinions

Ampharos too.
It's certainly on the bulkier side, but its highest stat is comfortably Special Attack, sitting at a nice 115, whereas its next closest stats are HP and Special Defense, at 90.

Magnezone is built similarly, with its biggest selling point being its incredible Special Attack, but its Defenses are both very good as well. Despite having a better defensive typing and an arguably better support movepool than Ampharos, it's only really ever used as an offensive presence.

The Magnemite line is fascinating, because while its dozen resistances combined with strong SpA make it a stellar tank for in-game use, the types it doesn't resist happen to be among the most common in competitive play, hence its use as a trapper rather than a balance staple.
I don't think that's it. Magnet's defensive profile is almost identical to that of pure Steel-types (which are admittedly very rare, making it hard to gauge how good the typing really is, but Melmetal is pretty damn good, as is Registeel in lower tiers). The only differences are strengthened resistances to Steel and Flying, an extra resistance to Electric, and getting mega-fucked by Ground. I think it's more a combination of the magnets actually having subpar bulk by Steel-type standards, and trapping shit like Skarmory is just too useful a niche to not hard commit to.

The Adventures manga is more character driven than Pokemon driven, that´s for sure, this is why we get different protagonists in each arc. I love Adventures despite its flaws, and while I've been disappointed by the latest arcs, hopefully it will make a comeback soon. I have more hope in it than the anime though.
I think my main issue is that... Its not that good in being character driven? I've been rereading it again, and its really a c+ manga at best. A lot of them have arcs that destroy the little character growth they gained, or are mostly ignored. The plot is often a mess with so many plot holes and just rushed writing that its more fun to try and imagine how to fix them than to actually read the thing.

And im saying this as someone who had pokespe as their special interess for 3 years (im autistic). When you get over the "edgy pokemon!!!!" part, theres very little holding up. Probably because kusaka is not a good writer LOL

Can we please just get a Mystery Dungeon manga or anime that has actual longevity and isn't just a one-off to promote a new game please and thank you
Honestly the anime adaptations kinda sucked. Though the Ginji manga and Explorers's were good

The problem with MD currently though, the "human lost memory" trope is legitimately getting old. Super's story was really stupid for the end, and overall a poor rehash of GTI's elements

Never cared about reburst but some of these designs r good as hell

Too bad most others look like badly made fursuits. Also apparent horny disease on some

You just gave me flashbacks to the time people were seriously thinking SM were gonna introduce Burst Hearts to the main series since what we now know as Z-Crystals kinda looked like them. That would've been something now wouldn't it lol

Was that some kind of spin off on the whole ubs are humans theory lol.

Burst would be cooler if it was more akin to those really cool looking gijinkas instead of giving people suits... Rip to what could have been

It's not super good now because of the power creep, but it's certainly a slower, bulkier mon.

did burst ever get fully translated into english? i hyperfixated on that shit so bad but i could never find anything past like.. the 4th chapter

I looked around a bit, and from what I can tell I'm surprised you were even able to read 4 chapters in English (were they official or fan translations?). Sadly every time I found someone supposedly linking to a site which had the manga translated the site no longer existed, so looks like the time to have read the manga in English has come & come. I was able to find all the volumes on sale in Japanese, and there's summaries here and there on what happened, but that's the best you're going to get unless someone who reads Japanese and is good at translating decides to take it upon themselves to translate it all... then probably receive a cease and desist from Pokemon Company even though they have no plans to revisit the series...

Never read Pokemon Reburst, but I finished Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Adventure, which is another unnoticed manga from Pokémon.

Pretty good, although expect lots of "lol japan" humor, from naked jokes and (I'm not kidding with this one) a Team Galactic grunt who revolves entirely on butt jokes.
To put it in perspective, the Male protagonist, Hareta, literally ‘wets’ Dawn’s counterpart’s bag in one scene. And it was illustrated too!

Epic hot take or whatever:

I think pokemon games should drop the villain stuff and become games where the foe is a force of nature. Indulge full in the legendaries having more and more importance in the lore.
I also dont really think rivals are super needed considering the gyms are by themselves designed to check your progress. Of course having trainers journeys match with you is good for plot, but they dont really need to be fightable every encounter possible.

Idk i think most of the games "layout" is getting outdated and they need to branch out soon

Looks at Mystery Dungeon RT :psysly:

i've yet to play sw/sh but from what i've seen the focus on the gym challenge works really well & the villain plot is totally underwhelming & tacked-on. i'd be totally down for a villainless gym-focused game.

Yeah it feels like they've hit a brick wall in wanting to do something new but their system of needing a villain made the story worse.

Yeah like that but with actual good characters

Exactly.

Sword and Shield are the first games in the franchise where the Gym Leader Challenge is treated in-universe as THE big deal.

Then you get bootleg Team Skull with a bad coat of paint and Rose just going full stupid at the end of the game for no reason whatsoever.

Like, why? You have three rivals, Bede is kicked out at the mid-game and pulls a Wally, Marnie is grossly underused (Though it doesn't really matter because she's not really that interesting.) and Hop takes the usual Team Villain role by ambushing you everywhere.

SwSh would've benefitted more from playing up the rivalry and competition instead of trying to get in a middle ground with Team Yell.

Honestly team yell could have been a decent hurdle if they actually did fuck up stuff. Like instead of just being roadblocks, make them part of the sideplot with marnie, you two ruining their plans and getting them to shut up or something

That was never supposed to be their thing. They're rowdy fans. Period. They ain't thugs hell-bent on world domination. They're literally just running interference 24/7.

Edit: Is it me or do you not battle any other gym challengers in routes and stuff?

I liked Team Yell for what it was. Sure, it being right after Team Skull makes it feel repetitive, but I appreciate their hooligan parody.

Making them do actual villainous things would have made them boring. And it would have reminded me of the 2018 Copa Libertadores incidents that I'm still furious about.

Edit: Is it me or do you not battle any other gym challengers in routes and stuff?

You don't.
