SS OU Fairy Spam (ft. Galarian Moltres)

Hi everyone! I wanted to build a team around Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele. The idea around this core is to overwhelm the steel types that wall both of them. This team allowed me to get my highest rating (1500s).

:ss/tapu-lele:
Tapu Lele @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast

Tapu Lele acts as the main breaker for the team. The first three moves are STABs, and Psyshock lets Tapu Lele hit specially defensive walls. Focus Blast is for the steel types. Try to bring Tapu Lele in through pivoting to break the opposing team. Note what your opponet switches in so you know what to click next time Tapu Lele is in.

:ss/tapu-koko:
Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- U-turn
- Roost

Tapu Koko acts as speed control and a potential wincon. The set is pretty standard, there's nothing much to say. U-turn is what you'll probably be clicking early and mid game. Try to wear down ground types enough for Tapu koko to sweep late game. The two Tapus also reset terrains for each other so the terrains are less likely to run out while they are in play.

:ss/heatran:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Protect
- Stealth Rock

Heatran is our team's physical wall and stealth rocker. Heatran can take the fairy and steel type attacks that tapu koko and tapu lele can't. The EVs are pretty self-explanitory. Flame body and lava plume allow heatran to threaten burns on physical attackers. Toxic spreads status and protect is for scouting. Switch heatran into u-turns to fish for a flame body burn. Heatran also is good at threatening some of the steel types that wall tapu lele and tapu koko.

:ss/landorus-therian:
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 23 Spe
- Defog
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- U-turn

Lando is the team's special wall and defogger. The EVs and moves are self explanitory, the IVs are to underspeed other lando, although I'm considering lowering them. Landorus also provides ground and electric immunities for the team. Use landorus to bring the team's breakers in with u-turn.

:ss/rotom-wash:
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 SpD / 56 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp

Washtom takes the water type attacks that heatran and landorus can't. It also helps a lot in the rain matchup and functions as a heatran check. Will-o-wisp helps rotom take physical hits better and punishes switch-ins such as ferrothorn. Use wisp to cripple attackers the team has a hard time with. Like landorus, use washtom to bring the team's breakers in.

:ss/moltres-galar:
Moltres-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Berserk
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Nasty Plot
- Fiery Wrath
- Air Slash

Galarian moltres is the team's stallbreaker. Taunt was chosen over the more common agility to allow gmolt to set up on defensive pokemon. Air slash over hurricane because I have horrible luck (Honestly, the 95% accuracy for air slash seems like it could be something like 85). Once gmolt is in against something that can't do anything back, it can wreck havock. Gmolt also acts as the team's ghost resist.

Teambuilding Process:
:tapu-lele: :tapu-koko: I wanted to build a team around these two because of how well they worked together.
:tapu-lele: :tapu-koko: :heatran: I added heatran to help threaten steels as well as provide rocks.
:tapu-lele: :tapu-koko: :heatran: :landorus-therian: A flying type was needed to alleviate the team's ground weakness. I also still needed removal. Landorus did this while providing role compression.
:tapu-lele: :tapu-koko: :heatran: :landorus-therian: :rotom-wash: Water types posed a lot of trouble to the team, so I added rotom-wash to help deal with them. Washtom was also a great heatran answer.
:tapu-lele: :tapu-koko: :heatran: :landorus-therian: :rotom-wash: :moltres-galar: I needed a dark type to check threatening ghost types. This slot was originally weavile, but I changed it to gmolt to help apply more pressure on the special side.

Threats:
:urshifu-rapid-strike: This thing is a big threat because rotom isn't physically defensive and unseen fist bypasses protect. The ideal plan would be to switch into lando when it's using cc and washtom when using surging strikes, but that doesn't always work out. Try to burn this thing and prevent it from getting in via offensive pressure.

:heatran: :ferrothorn: :melmetal: These steels can be annoying because they can wall our offensive pokemon (tapu lele focus blast doesn't count), so they look threatening. However, tran and washtom take on these steels pretty well, so they aren't as scary as you might think.

Replays:
I don't save my replays often, but here's one against sand that I did save. https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8ou-1613786539

Thanks for reading! All feedback is appreciated, so if you think there's a way to improve this team, please let me know.

Blissey seems tough to break. Zarude over moltres could help against blissey and rain teams.

I definitely agree that the gmolt slot is the most replacable, and that there may be better options. I don't think that zarude is better though, because gmolt can do things against most of the meta's defensive steels, while zarude can't. Helping in the rain mu looks good though, so I will definitely test it out.

I think that blissey is actually extremely easy to break. Gmolt taunts it and sets up in its face, while tapu lele kills it with psyshock.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I def see where you're coming from with the rain matchup being very difficult. Hurricane > Air Slash on Moltres might be another way to help as it makes it much harder for rain to pivot around it, should potentially soften some of rain's offensive pressure as it guarantees the 2HKO on Volcanion and nukes Crawdaunt

I like this team a lot. I'd say that you should have a Knock Off pokemon, so I'd replace Toxic on Landorus for Knock Off, especially since you already have a lot of status moves. Furthermore, if Blissey is an issue you can run Taunt on Tapu Koko over roost. Lastly, the Gmolt slot is indeed replaceable for another ghost resist. If it has Knock Off, you can re-add Toxic to Landorus.

Sorry for the late responses, I had some things come up. Thanks for the suggestions!

I definitely agree with this change, as I've noticed at air slash has missed some vital KOs.

Agree that knock off is better on lando. I think roost is better on tapu koko because it can use u-turn to pivot something in to deal with blissey. I tested weavile over gmolt, and I feel that gmolt fits the team more than weavile.

Hey I really liked this team but I did some changes such as changing GMolt out with Rillaboom.

You can see full changes here: https://pokepast.es/babfbe617504250d

I'm not sure what rillaboom does for this team. Also, rillaboom should have an adamant nature and should not run earthquake.

make lele modest so it hates way harder especially if ur gonna be trying to switch in off koko u turns

I prefer timid lele for the better speed tier, although I can see why you would prefer modest.

hi i think u have a problem with special walls in general tbh
ur team has a grand total of 2 mons with physical moves (one being uturn on koko) so if your counter for some walls gets kod u essentially kind of instalose
pretty cool team tho, u might want some more stallbreaking tools tho (no magma storm in heatran really diminishes its use for that aspect)

Hi, thanks for your response.

this team aims to overwhelm the opponnet's special walls in order to win the game. Additionally, gmolt acts as a pretty good stallbreaker with taunt and nasty plot. Many of the tier's prominent special walls are dealt with in more than one way

Blissey: Tapu lele psyshock, Gmolt
Heatran: Washtom, Tapu lele focus blast
Ferrothorn: Heatran, tapu lele focus blast
Gastrodon: Tapu lele, Gmolt (if not clear smog)
Landorus: Washtom, Tapu lele
Slowking: Gmolt, tapu koko
Toxapex: Tapu lele, tapu koko

I can see how one might think that having no physical attackers can be problematic, but this team works well in practice.
