Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 18th Nov 2022! **OFFICIAL INFO ONLY**

There is more info on the Japanese website, I ran it through a translator:

The elastic body is stretched and contracted to generate electricity with an organ that looks like a navel. The large amount of power energy generated is released from the eyeball-like bumps on either side of the head. Their true eyes are small and dull, and when they want to appear intimidating, the eyeball-like bumps seem to help.

Also it has Static, plus a new ability:

The ability "Convert to Denketsu" that Bellibolt possesses is a new ability introduced in this work. When attacked, it will be jyuden and enter a "jyuden state," allowing it to increase the power of its electric-type moves for one time only.

Seems similar to Flash Fire?

From the official English site:
New Ability: Electromorphosis
Bellibolt’s Ability, Electromorphosis, is a new Ability appearing for the first time in these titles. Bellibolt becomes charged when hit by an attack, boosting the power of the next Electric-type move it uses.

Nice, was starting to think we might have to wait for Monday for gameplay + art.

I like that they show its electric type attacks actually go from its body to the Pokemon, and not just hit from off screen:

The design is ok, definitely not what I imagined. It reminds me of Queenie (?) from FF9. Pure electric is meh, though, and like I said earlier I don't think this is vying for a spot on my team.

Also, I still hate the shark teeth on Iono so so much. When/why did this become a thing?

Calling English "normal human" implies japanese people arent normal humans which raises some weird ethical questions
:pikuh:
If "normality" has to be defined by the most present thing in a given sample, I am afraid english speaker people are the norm.

So yes, if your plan is to make content that can service as many people on the planet as possible, you're meant to be doing it in English.

By making it in Japanese, it means they don't care... as usual, after all, we're just sheeps who buy their games anyway, can't blame them.

Blame anime and vtubers. Not much to do about it.

Now I can't unsee the resemblance with Quina.

Worldie is bigoted, pass it on.

Design: A interesting ability for a defensive pokemon to fire off boosted up attacks even while not investing in their primary stat.

Reality: Watch it being another Electivire.

I'm guessing it'll have big hp but just "fine" defenses. I'm guessing something similar to Greedent
The challenge is that this is a pure Electric pokemon, means it will very likely have to stomach potential incoming Earthquake while at same time being blanketed by ground types.

I am not 100% sure this can actually work in practice, though I can see the actual use case being hard swapping in Bellibolt on a predicted flying, steel or electric hit, then threaten back with a big stab attack meaning you'd be forcing the enemy to swap in an immunity (potentially getting a free turn to hardswap yourself or status them or hit with coverage)
This however relies on several things being present..
1) Being actually able to take 2 hits
1bis) Being able to take a hit and be fast enough to outspeed potential switchins (scarf?)
2) Having coverage and not be another Regieleki case, since without coverage you're literally just being blanketed by ground types and volt absorb
3) Actually having stats to make use of it, as the ideal spread would probably be a bulky attacker rather than pure defensive, it wouldn't matter that he gets a "free +1" if it has chansey tier attack.

We'll see. At least the idea is interesting, either ways.
