SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

Paradox Mence with that item sounds crazy as hell. Also considering the ability only specified “harsh sunlight” as the thing that helps boost the highest stat, I think Sun is in for a crazy boost this generation until it probably gets nerfed and/or banned in competitive lol.

Also, we heard of OP Abilities getting nerfed this gen, most often being one-time use. What if weather and terrain abilities get the same treatment? Do we know?
None of those are actually confirmed, we only know from Khu that they did something to Protean, but given that he also said it's still broken as shit in regards to Mascarada, it's probably just that it doesn't work while Tera'd.

This was never confirmed, let alone suggested. We only heard two abilities being nerfed, one being intrepid sword which supposedly only activated once per battle according to rumors. Somehow people took this and ran and assumed a bunch of other abilities got the same treatment of once per battle despite them never being brought up or alluded to.

Interesting that Protosynthesis' wording says "most proficient stat" compared to Beast Boost outright saying "highest stat".I'm sure it's unintentional and doesn't mean anything but it would be neat if "most proficient" means like Adamant gets an Attack boost in Sun / Electric Terrain and Jolly gets a Speed boost in Sun / Electric Terrain. It'd save the paradox from having to do weird things like what Kartana does to get its correct Beast Boost stat. Or you can have mons like Mechattar essentially have Surge Surfer by being Jolly

A quick check says yes. Though I'm not sure how viable he will be, he isn't too bulky and is slow as hell. I don't think his recover will be enough to survive OU's ou even UU's damage output. Those rising voltage (if he pull one off) are still as terrifying as ever though.
doesn't matter how good it is, field setters are as good as their abusers

Iron Moth casually starting the battle with +1 Special Attack before it even gets to do anything if it runs the VIolet equivalent of the held item that enables its ability without the box legend's ability active.

Man if this thing inherits Volcarona's Quiver Dance everyone and everything is going to be in for a world of hurt. That thing's stats are just Volcarona's but better and that typing lets it violently maim any Fairy in existence.

Jesus, I was expecting 30 pages, i got 40, but i'm finally done catching up.

Why can't leakers do stuff at EU times ffs.

That said

1) I feed on smogooners tears, I don't care if the games don't have Set (even tho I used it myself) since pokemon games are easy by definition due to being tuned for 9 year olds, and making them easier doesn't change anything. Despite what people can say, it feeds into GF's "make your own challenge" motto. If you don't want to switch... then don't switch. I guess. Maybe. Though I do wonder if it's still there just a "hidden option" like SwSh sound options (why were these hidden again?)
2) I am pleased that at least they don't look like PS2 games anymore. Still far from xenoblade or bayonetta tier, but we take what we get considering how mediocre GF has been at it so far
3) Love pretty much all the new pokemon. Bit so and so on some, but overally satisfied with the variety and motifs.
4) I need someone to find out Sprigatito's line signature move
5) Surprisingly I was extremely close to the box lege / paradox abilities! I knew it couldn't just be "sun" and "terrain" but had to have something else.
6) Following on 5, I find Paradox ability actually pretty interesting, since it's "boosts the best stat". I can foresee some unexpected fuckery (say, Timid Kartana tier) to surprise people
7) THE PARROT HAS INTIMIDATE ICANT - Best pokemon of the gen, the Bird was indeed the word
8) Despite what I said on point 1, I am pleased that apparently the boss battles have some interesting design behind it. I was on the spot on this prediction, with the ones revealed, of gym leaders using "non type-themed pokemon that get type matchup completely changed by their tera". Hope the late-game ones are equally interesting as the one revealed.

Alright, back to work.

Oh and... to the person who said "I doubt anyone on smogon wouldn't buy the game", I think it's more on the other line, I'm fairly confident large majority of the people on smogon that aren't in OI havent bought a pokemon game in years if ever.

If Quark Drive can just be activated in regular ol' Electric Terrain as it sounds like, then Ironitar and Hariyiron suddenly look a bit more promising, considering their ability will activate and get their STAB beefed up.

funnily enough, for Irondreigon its ability will activate on Electric Terrain, but it itself wont be able to get any benefits from the terrain, being off the ground and all.

Irondreigon should get the effect since it's ability isn't levitate - it's quark drive; even if the terrain didn't affect it, there's always that booster energy item. Now that's gonna be beautiful on an Iron Hands in singles - it's essentially a technician on bullet punch. Couple that with belly drum and this thing is definitely this gen's belly drum meta. I'm already brainstorming how to set it up and suddenly cyclizar looks really interesting.

Doesn't Iron Moth die to an EQ?

This is where unaware skeledirge comes in, I assume

Heh, reading this made me notice that none of the Paradoxes are flying type.
I wonder why :wo:

By the way... did any of the streamers or leakers confirm/debunk the whole "ability nerf" thing? Considering we found that lord and savior parakeet has intimidate for one

That's only really true if the setter can come over and over. The less the setter can come in, the less terrain/weather the abusers can actually abuse. My worries lies with the fact that Pincurchin might be too frail and slow to do that enough times.

Dragon/Dark. The only flying one is Iron Jugulius as Dark/Flying
Good point, and actually catches me offguard cause I was expecting that "the electric terrain ones aren't flying type", but I believe Quark Drive is the electric terrain one...

Well, unless the ability activates regardless from being affected by it or not, kinda like Seeds do
