Probably because it's smoother than Melee. They probably added more frames to attacks, thus making them take longer to execute but at the same time they look much smoother and impressive. Also it's a lot more floaty. Other than that it's not really much faster or slower.

Whoa, I missed that my first time too. The Meta Knight's revenge remix is excellent too, Kirby's games got some really good redone music.
Holy...I'm saddened to see no Ice Cap, Metropolis, or Lava Reef, but we're getting a Scrap Brain song too? Awesome.
Kirby music was re-arranged by Motoi Sakuraba aka game composing god. He's the one who does the Tales series' music. He also did the music for Golden Sun, Mario Tennis, Eternal Sonata, and a bunch of other games.
That's only the music so far though. There could be more. I'm really hoping for Flying Battery Zone. 196 tracks so far!!!

Ah, I remember Motoi for Baten Kaitos, Star Ocean 3, and Valk Profile 2. The Kirby stuff doesn't remind me of his earlier works at all (then again, I suppose the aforementioned games had a much more serious theme) but it's still excellent. Flying Battery zone was another favorite of mine, I really hope they add more of the older tracks.
Edit: On that note, I wonder if we'll see versions of the SNES Donkey Kong games' music tracks? Those games have to have my all-time favorite soundtracks.

I'm disappointed in Toon Link's Final Smash... Now THAT, is just lazy. :\
Also, there are 3 Mario Kart tracks from the start: Mario Circuit (SNES), Luigi Circuit (64), and Waluigi Pinball (DS). Waluigi Pinball is one of my favorite DS stages, a long with Airship Fortress. <3 The music selection in this game is goddamn amazing.
EDIT: Butter Building theme is in too, awesome. Gourmet Race... <3. The metal rock composition they have is pretty sweet, I guess. So far we only have 1 Star Fox Assault song, which is saddening. Hoping you unlock more because the music in that game was damn right amazing. Nice to see that Sakurai didn't complete forget about Dr. Mario, as his theme in is the PictoChat level.

June 1st, 2008 was the date on the website. But whenever I see "1st" it seems like a placeholder date. Especially since it was a day of the week that Nintendo doesn't normally release games in Europe.

Green Hill was to be expected. It IS the stage after all. Emerald Hill, Angel Island, and ESPECIALLY Scrap Brain are all huge yays. Sonic Boom...eh. Sonic CD was one of the only Sonic games I haven't played, as I've never owned a Sega CD, nor did I buy Gems Collection. Live & Learn is, for me personally, the highlight track, and Open Your Heart is just about as good. Seven Rings...I heard enough of that Sonic in SatSR. If it's the Crush 40 version that they recently made, it could be salvageable (though most people for some reason don't really like the C40 version).
More like GourMETAL Race <_<. I'm quite stricken by the Metaknight remix, but I still have to say the best song is FD by far. That song just screams "legendary".
Yeah, I hope somebody rips it sooner than later because I'm pretty sure everybody wants the songs from the game especially that amazing Final Destination music. :)
