Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 18th Nov 2022! **OFFICIAL INFO ONLY**

Is it too early to say that I actually kind of hated this Presents? I mean, yeah, that was to be expected. 35 minutes of actually worthwhile content was obviously going to be too good to be true. Interestingly, despite not really caring about most of what they talked about, it’s the recollection of what was revealed that bothers me. September 13th for the Teal Mask is earlier than I would have expected, and The Indigo Disk feeling more and more like a traditional third version only adds to the sentiment that they haven’t yet learned their lesson about giving these time to cook in the oven. This does look to have a bit more promise than the Gen 8 sequence of events, but not by much. It would be much easier for me to be excited about residual content updates like this if it didn’t feel like “Hey, this stuff could have been in the base game but we got lazy lol”.

I can’t hate on this too much, however, since I would imagine they’ve had a lot of this Gen 9 stuff planned out from the very beginning. I at least enjoy the idea that Gen 9’s content seems to be following an overarching storyline, if that means anything.

Final thoughts:
  • They spent less time on Worlds than I thought they would, but they also had a surprising amount of new series and the like
  • The Detective Pikachu games still look and play better than the main series games (probably because Game Freak didn’t make it)
  • “Drayton”? Really? They’re not even trying to hide their surprises at this point.

So the mochi is interesting to me. Aside from the clear-out Mochi which has obvious usage for it, I wonder if these are just vitamins functionally (so +10 EV at a time) or if they might give more/less. Since it has the one that 0s out, maybe these mochi are designed to power up faster for example?
Yeah, I have a good feeling that they’ll give more than 10 EVs per stat. It would be nice if they gave 50 EVs apiece, but that’s the maximum amount I would expect.

Dipplin being a separate evo from Applin was unexpected, but kinda cool. I'm interested to see how its stats differ from Appletun and Flapple who both represent the opposite sides of tank vs. offense. I'm guessing Dipplin will be speedy since neither Appletun nor Flapple are very fast.

Dipplin gets a new ability works as a Sweet Scent every time it’s sent out. Archaludon gets Electro Beam, which is an Electric Solar Beam that instant charges in the rain and possibly raises Special Attack like Meteor Beam.

I love how the first 20 minutes of mobile and even N64 game ads have voice acting but the main series Pokémon games are still dead silent. Idk, it's just so jarring. I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point but this is the world's most profitable franchise. Why do these games still lack features that were standard on the PS2.

Oh well at least now we get Eviolite Duraludon. That's something.

I had it muted and thought the Nemona in Masters part was adding voice acting in some sort of update before I remembered Masters and how she wasn't in that game before

I'm really not seeing why. Not only is Duraludon two non-Electric types that could both use some more oddball moves, the mechanical nice of "powerful but awkward Electric move that removes its downside in rain" was already filled by Thunder.

The situation with Terapagos has been clarified: their both Terapagos but the fancier version is the Terastalized version. Like how Ogerpon got a terastal version as well

Some added details here like:
-the "deepen bonds" thing makes me assume we'll have similar quests with new teachers
-You can donate points to other clubs and get little stuff for the room
-lmao at "Blueberry Poitnts (BP)" yes very cute gamefreak
-You can trade Pokemon with the gym leaders if you beat them! That's fun.

Perrin's quest is specifically to seek out a "certain [mysterious] Pokemon". I wonder if this might be a paradox, or if its a new Pokemon in general?

Direct Your Pokémon

You can now tell the Pokémon walking alongside you to wait in place. This can help you set up the ideal angle for your photos.
Oh thank god, it was so hard to key up shots

Expanding Area Zero and now making the DLC Pokémon appear in Paldea is a nice touch.
I am very glad they will actually have you return to Area Zero.
The whole Heat plotline was left purposely unresolved but I was expecting that the resolution would be elsewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if they'll open up some area within the time machine base.

I'm 99% betting it's the paradox Raikou / Cobalion.

Screenshots aren't working for me right now, but there's a photo on the JP website that implies Electro Beam also raises its (probable) Special Attack before attacking, just like Meteor Beam.

The big easy spot to lead to new teleporters/areas/whatever is the left door in the big hanger. The right side was taken to fly into Area Zero, so I suspect the left side takes deeper into the observatory itself which probably leads to other parts of Area Zero that werent relevant to our first dive.

Special Guests
During your time at Blueberry Academy, you’ll be able to invite familiar faces from the Paldea region for a visit. When you invite a Trainer over, you can talk to them and take photos together. If you defeat one of these Trainers in battle, you’ll also be able to trade Pokémon with them—and you might just see a side of them you hadn’t seen before.

Trading with major trainers is back since Diantha trading a Ralts in XY.

Apparently baby terapagos is just normal forme terapagos:

This doesn't bode well for the terastal form making it out of gen 9... rip ultra necrozma.

Raging bolt and Iron Crown are in part 2, timeless woods are in part 1, so it's most likely something else.
