SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

does anyone have copy-paste text versions of these? Twitter rate limit is a bitch :sob:
I'm feeling nice after the fail above

#1011: Dipplin - Dipplin is two creatures in one Pokémon. Its evolution was triggered by a special apple grown only in one place. - The head sticking out belongs to the fore-wyrm, while the tail belongs to the core-wyrm. The two share one apple and help each other out.

#1012: Poltchageist (Unremarkable Form) - Supposedly, the regrets of a tea ceremony master who died before perfecting his craft lingered in some matcha and became a Pokémon. - Poltchageist looks like a regional form of Sinistea, but it was recently discovered that the two Pokémon are entirely unrelated.

#1012: Poltchageist (Masterpiece Form) - It sprinkles some of its powdery body onto food and drains the life-force from those who so much as lick it. - It has taken up residence in a very expensive tea caddy. It takes an expert to distinguish the expensive tea caddies from the cheap ones.

#1013: Sinistcha (Unremarkable Form) - It pretends to be tea, trying to fool people into drinking it so it can drain their life-force. Its ruse is generally unsuccessful. - It prefers cool, dark places, such as the back of a shelf or the space beneath a home's floorboards. It wanders in search of prey after sunset.

#1013: Sinistcha (Masterpiece Form) - It lives inside a superb teacup that was crafted by a potter of great renown. Collectors positively adore this Pokémon. - The more stirring it does with the tea whisk on its head, the more energy it builds up. It does this to prepare for battle.

#1014: Okidogi - After all its muscles were stimulated by the toxic chain around its neck, Okidogi transformed and gained a powerful physique. - Okidogi is a ruffian with a short temper. It can pulverize anything by swinging around the chain on its neck.

#1015: Munkidori - The chain is made from toxins that enhance capabilities. It stimulated Munkidori's brain and caused the Pokémon's psychic powers to bloom. - Munkidori keeps itself somewhere safe while it toys with its foes, using psychokinesis to induce intense dizziness.

#1016: Fezandipiti - Fezandipiti owes its beautiful looks and lovely voice to the toxic stimulants emanating from the chain wrapped around its body. - Fezandipiti beats its glossy wings to scatter pheromones that captivate people and Pokémon.

#1017: Ogerpon (Teal Mask form) - This Pokémon's type changes based on which mask it's wearing. It confounds its enemies with nimble movements and kicks. - This mischief-loving Pokémon is full of curiosity. It battles by drawing out the type-based energy contained within its masks.

#1017: Ogerpon (Wellspring Mask form) - This form excels in both attack and defense. It ceaselessly unleashes moves like a spring gushes water. - In this form, it draws on the power of water. It attacks unrelentingly with kicks and ivy strikes.

#1017: Ogerpon (Heartflame Mask form) - This form is the most aggressive, bombarding enemies with the intensity of flames blazing within a hearth. - In this form, it draws on the power of fire. It spears its enemies with thorn-covered ivy.

#1017: Ogerpon (Cornerstone Mask form) - This form has excellent defenses, absorbing impacts solidly like the cornerstones that support houses. - In this form, it draws on the power of stone. Its body is rock-solid, protecting it from all manner of attacks.

you're incredible marry me /j /j /j

anyways yeah those dex entries for the Loyal Three not only feel like confirmations for their typings, but also confirmations that they are indeed the villains of the story and not Ogerpon. Okidogi is straight up called a short-tempered ruffian, Munkidori likes toying with its opponents, and Fezandipiti uses pheromones to allure people unwillingly. Strange how all three Dex entries mention their powers specifically being enhanced by the Toxic Chain though... Maybe there's some weird possesion thing going on here????

Sinischa's signature move sounds like a potential Grass type move with a burn chance, interesting.
It appears to be Giga Drain (or some draining move) with a burn chance, which is bonkers.

Also, two things about Ogerpon:

1) I figured it’d be a Little Guy (tm) under the mask

2) The switching around of its masks, as well as the different typings, reminds me of this:
ninja-museum-iga-17.jpg

These are demon masks used in Japanese theatre for actors playing ninja, which were attributed various magical powers related to the elements. There’s an earth, water, and fire mask among them, plus one that’s a “wizard” mask… I think the parallels here are pretty obvious.

I’m thinking the human in the story enthralled them - hence the chains - to fight Ogerpon, so either the human’s the villain, or the Loyal Three are antiheroes, either flawed but still good guys, or needing the human to keep them under control. Regardless, bit of a subversive take on Momotaro.

Remember that abilities themselves don't make a pokemon, otherwise Shedinja would have been Ubers every generation.

Good ability and BST were not able to keep Galarian Articuno out of lower tiers either. I'd wait to see the movepool and stat distribution, as well as if these "masks" require a held item or not. Requiring a held item may on its own make it awful

G-articuno has a good ability. If things are as they suggest Ogerpon has a GREAT ability, the difference is huge here, considering we know the typings it would need and extremely hindering stat spread/movepool to not be an OU capable mon. Which is certainly possibly

Not that this is super relevant but I did a quick scan of pokemon that don't share at least one type with their preevolution, and the only one I could find (besides the previously mentioned eeveelutions and A-Marowak) was pre-gen 6 Azurill.

I think that the most likely type for new Ursaluna is probably Normal/Steel. The Normal typing seems reasonable given Ursaring is pure normal, and its new ability is a Scrappy clone, which has traditionally been distributed to normal/fighting types. The Steel typing is just because of the dex entry.

Ok for realsies though I think the idea of bringing back the hisuian species by going "yeah their range is now only this specific island" is really cool because thats just what happens irl. Animals who had massive ranges and now are only found in very specific areas, human intereference or natural changes.

Its like a pokemon version of a coelacanth, species thought long gone that had small habitats but were still alive. insert relicanth joke here

I mean White-Stripe Basculin was never actually called a Hisuian form outside of the TCG. It was always just White-Stripe Basculin.

So which ability(s) do you guys think Bloodmoon's losing for Mind's Eye? Guts, Bulletproof, Unnerve, Guts and Bulletproof, or all of them?

If I had to guess: it's almost certainly not Guts unless Bloodmoon gets Mind's Eye as its sole ability. Guts has been synonymous with the Ursaring line since abilities became a thing and has even been showcased on Ursaring in the anime. It's either dropping Bulletproof or simply being locked into Mind's Eye as a flavor thing. I get the sense (but very much hope I'm wrong) that there will either be a special Ursaring/Bloodmoon of which we can only get one.

It is also categorized as a Hisuian Form in HOME, if you filter for Hisuian Forms.
And Laventon still calls it a regional form as well
Laventon said:
Though it differs from other Basculin in several respects, including demeanor—this one is gentle—I have categorized it as a regional form given the vast array of shared qualities.

I think it just keeps the naming scheme because the other two had an established one.

I agree, although there is one mechanical difference: Breeding. Unlike all other regional forms, White-Stripe Basculin can produce White-Stripe Basculin even without an Everstone. (In truth, I imagine this is more for Basculegion’s sake, so that Basculegion aren’t producing Red- or Blue-Striped Eggs, but I like that it sustains the pattern of White Basculin being mostly but sort of not entirely a regional form.)

I'm calling it now that Bloodmoon Ursaluna will be Normal/Dark, which is a better offensive typing than Normal/Ground but much worse defensively than the original typing. Bloodmoon Ursaluna will probably also be slower than regular Ursaluna. Blood Moon probably has a 99.999% chance of being a Dark-type move.
