(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

Nah. Obviously this community is biased towards competitive stuff etc. but very often on Reddit I am reading stories about multiple kids in a family trading version exclusives or even parents and kids. One quite beautiful one, a bloke who’d played since GSC and never completed a Dex finished the SV one with the help of his son.

Version exclusives would never leave because whats the point of paired versions then?

I also disliked the exclusion of Mareep from Crystal (only cos I loved my Amphy), otherwise as a kid I found it to be the perfect game. I’m glad they’ve moved away from 3rd versions even prior to the Switch era, and now with DLC, its much better this way.

Unfortunately tactical Tera usage doesn't really mesh well with the concept of a type specialist, or even the idea of having an ace Pokemon you always Terastallize. Most people seem to think it would have been better for the Leaders to have an on-type ace, which they then Tera to a strategically valuable off type, but that has its downsides too.

Do you give the player hints about what type they'll Tera to? Telling them outright would be kinda boring, but if you leave it as a complete surprise then some players will end up feeling screwed over by something they couldn't have predicted. In competitive play, the limited ways you can strategise around Tera generally require you to have the kind of in-depth knowledge that casual players do not have and likely cannot have in a first playthrough. Admittedly, this isn't that different from just not knowing exactly what type the opposing boss Pokemon is, though.

Also, does it compromise the identity of a Gym if the strongest Pokemon you face there is functionally a different type from the one that the Gym specialises in? It doesn't really bother me, conceptually, but I can see someone disliking that the final obstacle isn't 'representative' of the Gym as a whole.
I think this would be something to play around with in the three Story structure: The Titans are Wild Pokemon eating the HM from Area Zero, what if they were same-type Tera bosses that were super buffed but not necessarily "smarter" fights? They become fights where you want strategy to beat a theoretically-higher-numbers Opponent, while the Gyms are on even ground but the Leaders think outside the box with things like Counter Tera types. Team Star then has the Starmobiles where your Tera is how you level the playing field against their weird tactics while they can't use it themselves.

I personally think the Gym Leader's Ace using a non-matched Tera Type is completely in line with them being type specialists, because one of the things you have to know when playing Monotype is how to go up against your usual disadvantages, something that Tera facilitates and is available to all (so it's not like Megas where you had to pick a specific mon that telegraphed it by not matching). If, for example, I'm up against the Fire Type Gym Leader and they Terastal to a Grass type, it benefits me to not simply load up with 6 anti-Fire mons, but to also know "okay what in turn covers Fire's Weaknesses that they might pull out?" for the battle. In past gens it might have been a coverage move but the principle is similar in not making the bosses a single type Rock-Paper-Scissors.

Atticus, despite being a Paldean Poison type specialist with his base located right next to a forest inhabited and tagged by Grafaiai, doesn't use one.

Made even stranger by him being an artist!

And besides Revavroom, all of his mons are not from Gen 9.

I'm low-key getting GSC vibes from this.
Hey now, the fact he has Revavroom puts him leagues above GSC. I also kind of like that he (& the other star members) all try and have a variety of generational rep.
Technically he even uses two Revavroom in his initial fight!

Which makes the fact he didn't get Grafaiai even weirder, actually

Kind of a random observation that bugs me in retrospect, but considering in the sinnoh games the prof aide's dialogue right before canalave when he gives you the dimorphism dex upgrade mentions rowan being worried about team galactic because of him getting harassed in jubilife, literally the entire game ago, that text probably makes a bit more sense pacing-wise if he was placed when you first get to floaroma during that unused cyrus encounter, where he actually does still mention the same event when giving you the update there as well. It's pretty strange how late the upgrade is anyway honestly

I totally agree with your reasoning, but I do think the dialogue works (likely unintentionally) as a demonstration of how oblivious all the adults are to the threat of Team Galactic. Whether that's a good story element to begin with is a separate question, of course, but it's kinda on brand for Rowan to only be vaguely thinking about a minor incident from ages ago if he's buried in his research and not really paying that much attention.

You're getting this 'keep an eye out! :)' warning after you've already foiled two operations and witnessed a terrorist attack on a nature preserve. Not to mention every interaction you have with Cynthia where she either a) somehow seems unaware of what's going on despite Team Galactic acting right under her nose or b) briefly acknowledges the threat they pose before being like 'anyway you should check out this sick library'.

I also find it weird (not as weird, but still) that Brassius never uses any member of the Bramblin line.

Why doesn't Brambleghast get Revival Blessing? The other two idiots with that evolution method are the only two that do. Is it because you can find wild ones outside of Tera Raids?

Also, I miss SwSh telling you where the weather was on the map. I just spent 2 hours trying to find rain for Goodra.

Pawmot is a living defibrillator and Rabsca is Khepri. What do tumbleweeds have to do with resurrection?

Sorry for double-posting, but I'm looking through the new items from the DLC on Serebii and something struck me as odd. Nothing major, more a nitpick but:
Why don't the Mochi colors match the colors usually associated with the Stat?

Generally, HP is red, Attack is orange, Defense is yellow, Special Attack is blue, Special Defense is green, and Speed is pink. Sometimes they have Attack as Red if they don't give HP a color, but that's how it usually goes.

But the Mochi colors is Health/HP is blue, Muscle/Attack is red, Resist/Defense is black, Genius/Special Attack is purple, Clever/Special Defense is yellow, and Swift/Speed is green (Fresh-Start/White resets base stats which I think is appropriate).

And, no, the Item descriptions don't help as they're all the same (can't even say what flavor they are, GF?).

BTW, do the newly added Pokemon drop material? Or did Serebii just not update that list yet?

This is actually the fifth arrangement in the main series by my count:
  1. Used by stat-changing moves in gen 3 and the labels on vitamins. Blue HP, Orange Atk, Green Def, Red SpA, light Green SpD, cyan Speed.
  2. Used by the comparison between natures and contest stats. Red/Orange Atk, Yellow Def, Blue SpA, Green SpD, Pink Speed
  3. Used by the Power items. Green HP, Red Atk, Orange Def, Purple SpA, Yellow SpD, Blue/Cyan Speed.
  4. Used by the wing/feather items. Yellow HP, Red/Orange Atk, Blue Def, Cyan SpA, Purple SpD, green Speed.
I don't think the devs actually have a consistent ordering, even if the nature-based one is commonly used in places like Bulbapedia.
