he’s next.

Also Fire/Ghost types such as Dirge/Ceru/Chandy get alot of milage from this change. Chomp and Weavile who were previously outclassed by Moon may see higher usage.
since no one has made a stupid american political comparison in a while, i'll step up to the plate and say that "here's how chomp can make a comeback" is the 2016 "heres how sanders can still win" of smogon gen 9

in all seriousness i think this marginally improves its viability but overall meta trends are still kinda against chomp, wouldn't be surprised if it got better with the proposed glisc ban though

Anyone else think theres just too many bans, much less the vigor some have towards even more bans? When will the slippery slope stop, if ever? Hopefully before more of gen 9 is banned than not, imo
most of these bans have been pretty justified, the only controversial QB has really been volc and that was more of an issue with how they went about it than anything. don't forget that three of the suspects this gen returned a "no ban" verdict

Garchomp does have some upside with Roaring Moon banned. It's now the best Scale Shot sweeper. It's also an offensive check to Iron Moth when there aren't really a lot of reliable ones.

Though one of those No Bans was barely a No Ban(got majority but not enough for the ban) and a good amount of the people that voted DNB on it regretted it and wanted to switch back to a ban and majority still want the thing banned now.

Yeah I forgot to mention that. If anything it further proves my point with how these QBs/tests have been for very deserving mons

I see your "use this normal set on a mid pokemon", and I raise you "use this stupid set on the best pokemon":

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Scale Shot
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

Best hazards setter, best knock absorber, best stall mon, best status absorber... and now best sweeper too! #GliscorSweep

(disclaimer: dont actually use this)

if dynamax was kept around in gen 8, the same thing would’ve probably happened tbh. most sweepers like gyarados, exca, volc, and chomp wouldve been complete monsters

It says a lot about how broken this community is that the first reaction to a mon being banned is talking about who should be banned next.
Gen 9 powercreep be like

But with RM gone, many of us agree that either Gholdengo or Gliscor should go next, which I agree with. I personally want to see Gholdengo suspected first then either gliscor or gambit depending of if Gliscor is still a problem with dengo gone.

now hazards are the problem? God forbid anyone try to play proactively

The playstyle that cares the least about hazards is HO, followed by all-boots Defensive/Semi-Stall/Stall. Out of them, the latter group is the one that likes to set up hazards, specifically spikes which are the ones we're mostly complaining about. You're making the misguided assumption that Hazards somehow enforces proactive play, when it makes purely defensive teams the second most viable type of team as it is.
More importantly, HO tries to apply so much pressure from minute one that neither ban would probably affect it much: when will your opponent defog the webs/screens if you're threatening to sweep their whole team every turn?
I really don't understand what "proactive play"-based style you're trying to defend with this, and in all honestly, I don't think you do either.
oh and the phrase “supposed to” should be banned when discussing the role of a Pokemon. The game just is. You don’t get to pick and choose intent behind what “should” exist

Yes, we do get to pick and choose stuff. Yes, we get to ban things as we see valid. And the slippery slope goes on until we agree as a community that it's enough. Such is the whole reason to exist of this site, as Evasion Clause and OHKO Clause and every ban in our history explain on their own.
The slippery slope argument is a falacy that serves as a reason to not do anything at any time. We started the slippery slope the day we banned anything for the first time, and then we decided as a community when to stop for each generation. As do all things. The "slippery slope" of prohibiting things in real life is not a good argument to defend that we shouldn't have laws on the notion that "everything and anything might be illegal someday", per example. We choose when to start, and we choose when it ends.

Of course it's best if we can keep bans to a minimum, and the standards of the site prioritize minimizing changes to the actual game, but that just points at where we stand at basis. "Things aren't banned nor changed unless there's sufficient support to do so", instead of "anything may be banned unless enough people support it to stay". Hence why our suspects and council votings require 60% or 75%+ ratios to ban things.

Honestly, we haven't banned nearly enough Mons. Ival, Wake, Gambit, Ogerpon, Moth, Dengo, Sneasler – all these mofos gotta go. Ramp up the aggression and get rid of 'em ASAP.

I don’t get it.

last gen people cry about boots because they can’t play without sneaky pebbles.

this gen, there is 10x fewer knock off Pokemon and basically 0 U-turn styles, and now hazards are the problem? God forbid anyone try to play proactively

I don’t agree with the so-called hazards problem. Tera and overbearing defensive threats are what need to go

Can we have it so accounts have to be a year old before posting on smogon dot com plz ty

Absolutely! A year waiting period is just what we need to keep the riffraff out. Let's make Smogon an elite club where only the seasoned veterans get to speak. Who needs fresh voices and new perspectives anyway? Great suggestion!

Sidenote: this account is literally a year old in 2 months lmfao

dude i had this sun team with scarf rm and ever since rm was banned ive lost 100 elo lmao

not saying it shoulsnt have been banned i just think sun as a playstyle took a serious blow (and so did my elo) (or maybe im dix? probably)

Just gonna say, I'm never a fan of gatekeeping, no matter the circumstance. Not too long ago, we had a brand new player join and asking a bunch of questions on how to get good and (eventually, after some laugh reacts,) got the help to learn how to begin. When I joined this year, I too was making SO many dumb posts, and it's been a rocky road trying to be part of this community. I think lowering the toxicity is a HUGE necessity and we as a community need to be more welcoming of new people, even if they (and I) have terrible takes. Rather than laugh them out of the scene, encourage them to improve so they can see where the experienced players are coming from and understand why the directions are being taken.

TLDR: Gatekeeping ain't cool
