Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v4

I decided to log in to ask this, even though I decided to take a break, but what are people using to actually check Archaludon? So far I've seen only clodsire reliably check it but it getting past it isn't impossible due to rng drops or hazards. Skeledirge is another check in theory but it's extremely difficult it seems to deal with it in general without 2 mons minimum. I'm asking this because people are saying it's easy to deal with but not providing actual answers.

I tried it during the suspect, using the sample Triple steel rain but it felt more like an issue of the team rather than of arch itself as I had to use it as a response to some things and it got overwhelmed pretty regularly. It also felt like some games it was just absurdly punishing from the coverage + stamina. It's been a while so I could be misremebering but I'd like to know some options I could include in teams to more reliably deal with it outside of clod.
The reason Arch isn’t super broken is that there is plenty of offensive counterplay for it, the fact it doesn’t have longevity, the fact it HATES hazards, and the fact it’s so hard to swap in. Not really any defensive counterplay but still. Archaludon needs to be around full to pose a threat to you. Anything below that creates huge vulnerabilities to anything faster than you, such as :choice Specs: :Enamorus:, :choice Specs: :Walking Wake:, :Great Tusk:, Swords Dance :Iron Valiant:, and :Iron Boulder:. Or just use :choice specs: :Ampharos: people!

i was wrong about gliscor's banworthiness when dlc1 first dropped
Were you pro-ban or anti-ban?
Either way it was really strange seeing Gliscor of all things on the radar and I was anti-ban at first because I hardly saw the fucker, only to then fight the legion of Gliscor released after Freddy Fazbear departed from the tier and rained down Toxic hell onto OU.

same situation as you: i was anti-ban at the very beginning and then swiftly turned to pro-ban when i realized "oh wait this thing is actually as stupid as njnp said it was". i'd wager a good portion of eventual pro-ban users had the same experience. a lot of the community was wrong about gliscor in the beginning, just like a lot of the community was wrong about hypnosis and sleep in general pre-dlc2, or about orthworm/shed tail at the very beginning of the gen, or about deo-s on day 1 of dlc2… well, just generally a lot of things get looked at the wrong way when there's not enough information to make a proper judgement. it's nobody's fault in particular, that's just how people work. making the correct judgement call during that time (like njnp did) is an impressive feat

That's ironic. I've often fought Scarf Dragapult...when I Tricked a Scarf on them. That tends to neuter them for the rest of the match, although I was sweating bullets before I realized that.

This reminds me, is Dragapult as scary as it once was? I don't find it as intimidating. Maybe because I'm so scared of meteors, fire, electricity and the like from other things like Arch, Gouging, Raging and whatnot.

People love that boots double status pult rn, and its def good against many structures...i always love a good old classic Banded Adamant Pult, I farmed that exotic64 HO team from pre-DLC so many times just by killing the glimmora turn one (it's like a 60% roll to OHKO i think, which doesn't really matter, only difference is if rocks go up or not), iron valiant comes in, my empoleon comes in as they miss hypnosis, i flip turn into scarf sneasler as i soak up the spikes and then dire claw OHKO the valiant

You definitely want to get rid of rain too so some form of glowking should be there with chilly reception as I don't think any of the weather ability pokemon (except pelipper) have a momentum move that doesn't also kill it. The spanish transmasc core could be pretty good actually

Suddenly your team has 4 different mons just to counter rain

Yeah I forget about these. It's one of those mons I used to over prepare for, though lower elo Scarf Meow would be more than enough.

The amount of people that still leaves their Pult in against Lead Meow even to this day is amazing.

What’s the double status set??

I am unreasonably excited about getting to 1500s for the first time
I don't even know why I'm here, I just kept using Kingambit and Kingambit 2: electric boogaloo and kept matching up against weather teams
am I a good player now?

It's not unreasonable to be excited about this, I'm just excited getting to 1300s after falling to 1100s by testing trash teams. Celebrate the small things, everybody is on their own journey and if this is a new high for you, then that should be celebrated.

congratulations for getting to 1500s! unfortunately, i have no idea what elo qualified someone to call themselves a "good player". hell, i don't even know if i'm a good player, i got to 1700s with four choiced mons + tusk + torkoal. i don't know whether that makes me good, the team good, or the meta bad

As the Kyurem vote continues (and it’s close — remember to vote everyone who got reqs): the council is approaching a potentially unanimous consensus on a next suspect. We may proceed with the test without another survey, opting to push back the next survey a few weeks to give sufficient time between while not stalling the tiering process altogether.

Finally archaludon will receive his due comeuppance. The world will see peace again.
My bet is on Roaring Moon getting addressed next. Gouging Fire and Archaludon need weather to be stupid and people only started having issues with them recently.

Any ideas on what will be suspected after kyurem?

:magnezone: :cresselia:
magnezone and cresselia, a match made in the depths of midladder to once again bypass skill requirements while looking like a top player
using these particular ru pokemon together may help fix your elo problems

But so far they is yet to face rain and do horribly against those veil teams threatening to steal the sheist award from their bare hands

but here, click this link if you suck on ladder and desprately need a team that easily for you to understand(its ok to ask for help) , remove steel and wallbreak with magnezone, then punch holes with cress, the rest is filler, magnezone and cresselia fit together like lego bricks and work on multiple teamstyles

I like posts like these, makes the grind less maddening. Everyone here has their share of troubles, even good players have admitted too and encouraged the use of sample teams. Helps alleviate the pressure of learning and asking for help around the site.

I'm guessing it's probably roaring moon in which case I will be happy about that since roaring moon is just as dumb as it was in dlc1, Moon still has zero switch ins. It also is probably the most unhealthy by a mile as annoying as archaludon is.

Also if you wanna ban Kyurem please vote, we don't need another home meta gambit situation

Roaring moon is in no way shape or form broken. People have been calling for arch's and gouging's heads on a spike since before the kyurem suspect even started.
I have a feeling gouging could be looking for a suspect but it will end up like the result of walking wake when everyone wanted it out when it was released. I could see arch getting a look.

Dragon dance tera flying acrobatics knock off sets still have no answers even if the Mon is a pain to put on teams, compared to something like Gouging Fire which has notable answers and takes a bit more time to get going compared to Moon which just runs away with games oftentimes after a single setup move

hopefully this new suspect is gouging fire but i wouldn't be surprised if archaludon is next on the chopping block. i don't see the latter being banworthy though, it's far too reliant on weather to do its thing unlike the aforementioned gouging fire, who is consistently a major threat on a game-to-game basis regardless of what playstyle it finds itself on
