Ofc phrases like this aren’t really mafia phrases (self-pres is the like tertiary win condition) but it’s a common newbie mindset and I view it as organic as any alignment

This was actually in Assist Trophy LOL. I don’t think it was also in an IPL game (unless you mean Snap Trap in the OC)

But it was given to mafia N1 and therefore never passed to another player so that was fun

When I’m mafia I don’t even bother to deep that stuff lol and it’s certainly not enough to shake my townread of him that pre-dated the buddying anyway.

if you're town and Shane is town and Flanders is scum then that's the greatest position in the world for him you're basically always dead before him as you say and after you die he gets the free credit which shoots him up town reads wise

of course he can also be town with a correct townread if you are town, so I'm not saying this is the case but it does seem weirdly passionate/white knighty to me especially in that moment (I do think he has been towny as a whole regardless)
 
wrt massclaim: if we get a mafia today we're good but if we hit a town instead I do strongly advice a massclaim D3; technically without the vig firing we'd be at 9/4 in that scenario and it isn't required, but 8/4 on a misvig and we're kinda in the danger zone.

ah ok sorry, I don't mind having that post in thread anyways since it's probably the clearest reason why I've stated this game and is useful for even future reference in future games for people to consume

in regard to a fairy, you could be right idt you're completely off track I'm really not sure if her alignment but what you're saying...could? be true I guess but she can be a pretty passive player on the best of days in regards to forcing worldviews I think, so it's very hard for me to say

it was the water factional

it's not a terrible role, in fact it's a completely fine role but there was so much jank in the game rather than a few alt roles that it messed with some new players understanding of core mechanics

I think the length didn't help either

Yeah you’re right about all of this, it’s certainly been flagrant enough that Flandrs gets less towncred if I die, which is probably a good thing. Interaction reads out of animosity tend to be a bit better than interaction reads out of buddying unless the buddying is subtle enough anyway

Oh right, that makes sense haha. Yeah we should definitely draw a red line under the entirety of MRM it wasn’t a good or well-hosted setup.

Maybe that’s half of Flandrs’ appeal, he’s reading the mafiascum wiki so he can talk about mech stuff on a decent understanding level without also being tainted by the super crack heavy setups (mainly the IPL one where it was supposed to be relatively vanilla role madness and balanced lol)

People didn’t apply Assist Trophy logic after Assist Trophy because the OP was emblazoned with “this is crack hf”
 
Anyway catchup reflection is that a lot of the players who were hard on me yesterday have eased the pressure, with the exception of Shane (who only apparently hopped on me as scum around deadline anyway) and also Clouds who I feel yo-yoed his read on me a bit. He tried to broaden the conversation away from just me which is good, but maintained an undercurrent that I’m probably (but not definitely) scum and threw that into a few posts, not backing it up with a vote anywhere. Could be actual town mindset solving but could also just be positioning himself well for EoD.

Marth certainly eased off his scumread of me without telegraphing it much, and Hydro didn’t even really talk about me when he came back which I find strange because he used his mayor to almost vote me out yesterday lol

A lot of the other conversation didn’t leave a major impression on me but I need to go to volunteering soon anyway and I read it slowly after just waking up. Just like last game, Alice’ posts don’t stick in my mind at all I need to ISO her some time lol. Other thing related to her which I find strange is Shane townreading her just cos she was sad the newbie died early twice: I believe it was probably genuine emotion from her, but it’s NAI, if not slightly scum leaning if saber did actually martyr someone.
 
Should also comment on a fairy but I think it’s very WIFOM. She was Oprahing and sure that could be because Shane/me is T/T and she’s scum and wanted to stoke the flames while looking good because she didn’t take a side, or because we’re T/S and she wanted to look good regardless of who was scum because she treated both of us as as scummy as each other, or because all 3 of us are town and she was legit just trying to get us to shut up.

Genuinely don’t think I have a view on which is likelier just based on the Shane/Me argument.
 
But I do think it’s slightly towny for her to get riled up by Shane in the same way I did, and when I discussed that with her after it cooled off she made it clear that she understood that I got riled up but that she thought I was scummy for different reasons to that based on the argument. Not sure how much I buy the last bit because I think the stuff she usually scumreads me for off the back of arguments are fairly contingent on me instigating but it’s fine if she disagrees with that, she refuses to tell me exactly what she thinks my scum meta is :P
 
Tommy I softed that I sent clouds a bpv and he confirmed. I feel like if you’re town you would have read that interaction but instead you skimmed over it and just decided to vote me again to stay consistent with day 1.
