  • So I grabbed some Hornwort today- two small plants worth. The newts have already done some damage to it- I chucked in some filthy Rasboras and a feeder goldfish as well. They will spike nitrates a bit more in my otherwise pristine tank to give the hornwort the best shot (as if it needs more help). The goldfish will likely live, the rasboras....not so much. LOL

    10-20% water changes DAILY, my dad refuses to get plants as it "is bad for the filter". It was a brand new tank at the start of the season. The issue is that he has about 35 inches of goldfish (dirtier than normal fish by about 33%) in 33 gallons, which means that it is dramatically overstocked.

    My dad has an overstocked pond goldfish tank that keeps going white. The nitrates spike in both his goldfish tanks and it's so bad that 2 filters, each rated for 33 gallons (it's a 33 gallon tank!) can't keep up and even the mystery snails are dying.

    Suggestions?
    Also the goldfish are losing their color. MITIGATE plz

    I meant to post this earlier but it ended up on my wall instead. jrrrr is not my real life buddy. Even in the same town he once floated the idea of an irl meetup at the movies but he chickened out. Being Red Oni/Blue Oni works for a while but it's just gotten out of hand. I have Morm to mess with me now.
    Also what is selection of 5 planted plants that I can use that can take a shit kicking, grow fast and won't die easy. I want a few choices cause in canada we don't get much

    I want a FEW plants in my aquarium for shrimptown, preferably ones sturdy enough that a newt can hang off of or something.

    Chou! I was really touched by your farewell post, and it's one of the main reasons why I've decided to remain in the community despite sporadic activity. I won't be able to do JAP though :(

    Wow man. I have to say, the difference between the tone in your posts I used to know you for (intellectual and diplomatic) and the one you use now (bitter and blunt) is astonishing. Looks like the new Gen has us all disgruntled and up at arms, huh?

    I wonder though, why wasn't it that way with D/P? :/
