Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
No... you copy the file you want, change the extension to .sa1 and .sa2, trade, save, change the extensions back to .sav. Done. Always have a backup copy of the save just in case.
There are some config files that would change it... I suggest altering the config yourself. The first VBA link you open will have different settings from the second VBA link you open (yes really). Make sure they don't have conflicting keys.
Yeah that video shows you how to do it. The latest version of the emulator (0.9.7) can do it as well so might as well use that one. But remember to check the pokemon with the latest legal.exe to see if the trash bytes are valid. Very important.
Well if you already have Desmume and a DPPt save file you have what you need. If you don't then you need to get them so you can transfer them. ;p
Desmume has an option to select a GBA ROM (must be unzipped) and it will load that ROM as well as a .sav file name the same as the ROM. I don't think it can actually play a GBA game but it will consider that ROM + save in slot 2 for Pal Parking purposes. Make sure you have backups of both the GBA and DS save before you Pal Park though, and I do not recommend you to use HG/SS for Pal Parking.
Yes. You need the DS emulator Desmume. You'll also need D/P/Pt and a save that has access to the Pal Park. Sometimes the emulator writes the wrong trash bytes for Pal Parked pokemon so you'll need to run anything you Pal Park through the latest legal.exe (found here). It only has support for pokemon Pal Parked from an English 3rd gen game to an English D/P/Pt game though so make sure you use those (HG/SS isn't supported yet, nor are other languages for D/P/Pt. My Emerald save is an English one so you don't have to worry about that. I'm going to take a look through your thread now.
