My first problem is that I don't have the RNG program everyone else seems to have despite the fact that I downloaded the same one as everyone else. There is no "DPPt Seed Finder" button.

And yeah, SS makes it a bit easier because of less NPC movements messing up your frame. If you're not already using it, pikatimer helps a billion ^^
I haven't even tried. I got halfway through the tutorial and went, "lolwut?" at what it was telling me to do. But I would love to learn.

No doubt. I can barely stand SRing with good parents, let alone tapping a few thousand times or SRing for weeks for a good IV layout.

Lol...I'm not doing this as payment...I'm doing this simply because I have a bit of respect for shop threads. A little while ago, I saw a guy trying to start a shop on serebii...was around 14ish, and all his pkmn were NUs w/ IVs that were 15 at best. I gave the guy an EV-trained munchlax w/ near-perfect IVs, and since then the kid's been grateful ever since. I donate to try and spread the wealth...not out of apology...lol
