  • ok here's where it gets a little more difficult. We know the game goes through the seeds 256 times per second, but what is that length of time in seconds? simple: 1s / 256 = 0.00390625s, or 3.90625 milliseconds. the game goes through all of the seeds once in 3.90625 milliseconds! that makes it extraordinarily hard to hit a seed right?
    What that means is that there is 16^4 possible combinations, hence 16^4 different seeds. 16^4 = 65536 thats pretty simple to understand right?
    0-F is 16 different "values". the seeds in FR/LG are only two bytes, meaning they are 4 of these kind of "values" in a row (ex: 0f35,etc)
    the simplest way to describe hexadecimal is that each digit place (1s, 10s, 100s, etc) can be a value of 0-F(all the values a digit place can be: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F)

    basically its just a different way of writing a number. The reason you need hexadecimal is that hexadecimal is the way the game stores data
    wanna know how we know the amount of seeds in the game? It might be a little harder to understand than the rest of this stuff, since It delves slightly into hexadecimal.
    that means the game goes through 16777216 seeds every second (65536*256 = 16777216)
    hmm ok well, the simplest way to start would be to state the following: in FR/LG the game goes through all of the seeds 256 times per second. when it reaches the last seed, it starts back at the first seed again. you following?
    Care to let me walk you through some of the math? I think if I go slowly, you'll be able to understand just fine. It's one of those things where if you don't start small it's very overwhelming :)
    It is VERY interesting imo. It's also a challenge :P Kinda like a code you gotta crack, but the code has multiple hitches in it so you gotta solve one part at a time. The only problem is that it is extremely difficult to hit the same seed twice.
    in FR/LG it's just like emerald, where the frames advance automatically; all you have to do is wait the appropriate time length, then enter the battle/take the egg/etc on your target frame.
    To put it in the most simplest terms, we are trying to figure out methods of timing that allow us to hit a seed multiple times.

    The math stuff I was posting was basically a little formula that tells you what beat at the tempo you entered will you have the greatest chance of hitting your target seed.

    That's what we're doing at the most basic level.
    The zapdos is interesting, because I found two different spreads that are both good;

    30 / 23 / 31 / 30 / 31 / 31 bold and 30 / 19 / 27 / 30 / 31 / 31 timid

    I can't decide which one I want, though I'm leaning towards the first one. I still have time however, because the little hitch is significant enough to halt all progress and throw us back to square one again :/
    I can't transfer it though. My gba is broken and I need a new one. I'm planning on getting 2 and a link cable, but I can't do any transferring right now. It kinda sucks, but in reality, doing it in FR is helping my research on the RNG in FR/LG. Once I get past this one little hitch in the progress we've made (we as in the people working in the FR/LG research thread), I can go catch my hp grass 70 Zapdos

    I mean, the CB set for lc ponyta calls for flare blitz, which is 4th gen only so meh :/
    rapidash learns it in the newer games, but not in the older ones. they just reversed it lol. but the good news is, all I have to do now is SR for nature/IVs. I already got the parents I need (though it was a enormous amount of work, with flame body/magma armor no helping) I'm shooting for quint 30+ (30+ / 30+ / 30+ / iffy / 30+ / 30+)
    btw just a heads up, after I finish mixed priority ponyta, meowth is next on my list for lc :) (It might take just a bit longer than normal, because quick attack is 3rd gen only, FR/LG only, where the natures aren't set upon egg creation >_>)
    I'm doing him a favor. He has a small trade thread, and needs the mons. besides, I came to wifi to get lc going and off the ground. And I like helping people out; if it costs me a mon to help someone out for their trade thread, so be it, I can clone the mon again.
    The Jolly spread isn't that bad, although it will be outclassed by ALOT of other people.
    I should stick with non shiny flawless stuff if I were you.
    Ofcourse, unless you want something to be shiny realy bad.
