  • All qualms with OP are ultimately just "minor" qualms in the scope of things. Even the worst arcs of OP (in this case, MF) are better than almost any given point in say, Naruto. So yeah, you're right in saying "only a bit," but then the little bits are the only thing that exist between OP and perfection-- so there's nothing to quibble about except the little bits. :P
I definitely agree about Ace being a likeable character-- that he has a great character design, attitude, and a natural charisma and power that earned him a huge fan base despite being able to count all his pre-MF panels on 2 hands. I just didn't like Oda using the innate greatness of his character designs as a crutch or cover for real character relationship development.

I mean, we didn't need the ENTIRETY of Luffy/Ace's childhood saga, but even a fraction of it that could have been inserted as flashback at any number of points in the plot line (after thriller park when Luffy looks at the vivre card, pre-impel down when Ace asks Jinbe to look over his brother, or when Garp and Ace talk in Impel Down).

Yes the story is about the straw hats, but I don't think it would have killed to get Ace involved in one of the arcs more. Considering Oda's ability to plan ahead and put plot together, I don't think this is too much to ask.
Took this off the thread because everyone there is tired of talking with me about MF lol

Alex, the biggest crux of marine forde's failing was that Ace, who should have been a more critical character of the series, was killed off before getting a chance to really do anything. Moreover, his character wasn't used or developed enough for us to really care about him as much as we should have when he died. :/

When Ace turned to face Akainu, it was more like "wow, this guy's a dumb ass." than any sense of vindication. When Ace got killed it was more like, "wow, sux." than any real emotional response. When Luffy went crazy to save Ace I was more confused than anything (since Luffy had always purposefully ignored Ace, and their bond wasn't developed or explained at all). When Ace screams out "This era's name is WB!!!!!" I know this moment should have been one where I felt huge emapthy with Ace but really I didn't-- because I didn't know WB or Ace well enough to really feel emotionally attached to either. These characters had barely had an introduction; how could I fell like they were the center of this universe?

When Luffy goes to save Robin or Nami, we felt tremendous emotional attachment because those character's back stories had been explained. When Merry Go died, I don't think anyone could read the scene without crying because of our attachment to the ship through the adventures of the story. When Luffy goes to save Ace? "Uhh, okay... Luffy, you're a dumb ass." When Ace dies? "Um... sux? Ace, you're a dumb ass."
I understand you point. But still, the battle shows all the damage calculations in a cool way, also shows how tyranitar can successfully bluff a choice item :]
Does this unreserved list look right to you? I'm confused if mons under low priority needs a revamp or simple SCMS changes. Thanks!
Sure thing. You can also use Skill Swap on other mons to the Intimidate user and you'll get a second Intimidate too! Cresselia gets Skill Swap interestingly enough. Gyarados and Salamence, yeah, forgot they used Intimidate before Moxie, lol
Hey, I had to leave suddenly. The idea is good, 2 intimidators like Hitmontop + Landorus-T works very well and render physical attackers useless. It's an interesting idea, Scrafty would be the next intimidate user, but I can't think of a good fourth one, maybe Staraptor.
Yup, definitely a great spread. I'll continue keeping my head low until I can have some fun with the flavor. :3 Keep up the great work!
In addition to RestLum, and this might be very gimmicky, there are also pinch berries that raise the defenses. With Synthesis on a good switch, or Protect or something, it could potentially be an option. Just saying. But RestLum is a whole lot better.

    Also unlimited Sitrus.
Geez, that is an awful lot of counters...that may need Fire-types to address, like Breloom and Skarmory. Definitely throwing my support behind your stats.
Yeah, I felt I had to post because your spread is just like the one I had in mind (but yours has less HP and that proved to be a good thing by the calcs), so it's the one I'm going to vote. I frankly can't see how people are afraid of a <90 Base Attack pokémon, it's like Virizion isn't bottom-tier UU...
I just pretty much joined here because I do competitive myself. I am pretty good at it,but I kinda wanted to sharpen my already great skills with the tutoring they have here.
    I like Pokemon,Ao no Exorcist,One Piece,etc.
My intention was to finish it this morning (I had forgotten about it until PK told me), but I ended up not getting the chance. I'll be adding everything that in the thread to it tomorrow afternoon.
    Thanks for the reminder! :)
