Yes, you should get down to the second and the use Pikatimer to adjust if you miss your target. Once you know the time, supposedly you can do the reset while the daycare man holds the egg, but you will have to test this yourself. I have yet to test it. I'm waiting until after I have an AR that works on Gen 5.
You have to do some work and breed a pair of pokes with different random IVs and no perfect IVS. You breed until you get a baby with the right nature plus at least two or three perfect stats inherited randomly. Then you make a note of the stats inherited by the parents, and then you substitute your real parents and soft reset for the same time. It's all in the post.

What kind of ditto are you trying to pokeshift? If it's just a breeder and I have the same nature on my thread, perhaps you'd like to trade for one of those instead? I can pokeshift, but it's a hassle.
